Mr. Gurian is very unprofessional. He and his team failed to follow up on an issue, and claimed that my emails, and those of my advisor went to their SPAM folder. When I tried to reach him, he sent me an email saying "I think it is in both yours and the firm's best interest that we disengage" while citing slow responses to documents needed while we were out of the country months earlier. When I called his office I was told "I think he's on the other line". He then followed up a missed call with another email, and failed yet again to return my message, after emailing that he would. Of course he did this at the worst time of the year as well. I then find out that he had not been returning calls or emails to my advisor for the last year. The bottom line is that this firm is unprofessional, fails to return calls and emails, and is not the least bit proactive. If you are looking for a reactionary firm, that may or may not call you back, and treats their clients like an inconvenience, then Gurian may be for you.

I can't say that I am surprised by your response, or your incorrect version of the timeline, but thank you for proving my point by not taking responsibility for your lack of customer service. It speaks volumes that your apology was posted here, without an attempt to call or contact me directly. By the way, the documents needed were not easily obtained, especially since I was in the Middle East for the month of June, with a less than secure internet connection. I did explain this to your office, and I also gave them the timelines that I would be unavailable. Despite your claims, I kept in contact via email and phone, explaining that we had an extremely busy summer schedule until the end of September. I was very clear about my schedule and when I wouldn't be available. None of your requests were ignored. In fact, it was my request to visit with you prior to filing the return that was ignored. I find it interesting that with all of your "latest technology" that the attempts to email your office, by both myself and my advisor, were thwarted by your SPAM folder. I think we both know that is not what happened, and that your "professional disengagement letter" was your way to cover up dropping the ball, by not contacting me back. Once you realized by my question, that you failed to provide proper proactive guidance, instead of taking responsibility and doing the right thing, you chose to cut your losses. I now know that you were also ignoring the contact attempts of the very person that brought me to you, and I do agree that it was in my best interest to find another firm. Thank you for helping me see that so clearly. read more
