Dr. Gumprecht almost killed me a few years ago during a routine surgery and I still deal with a handicapping condition as a result. I am very glad to see he has retired and in no position to hurt others. He never would consider any culpability on his part, instead trying to assign problems to a " coincidental, spontaneous " bleeding ulcer. After an exam under anesthesia by another specialist, that proved to be a dead end. All of this was occurring while I was was in ICU, recovering from loss of 9 pints of blood. (I am a small female.) I went to see Dr. Gumprecht a while back for a chronic ear/sinus combination issue, and at the time was also suffering from some ridiculous congestion that would not clear up. He got the congestion cleared up pretty easily and it didn't seem to come back (guessing some sort of environmental exposure since it has never happened again) and my initial impression was that this guy was pretty friendly and knowledgeable. I was really hoping he could help with the ear/sinus issue that I have been dealing with for about the last 30 years or so. Long story short, two office visits and an $800 charge for a nasal scope exam, I get a very gruff and short response of, "Lets do surgery on your sinuses and hope that it clears up the problems with your ears. Just watch this video about it and we'll get you scheduled." Um, excuse me, but that is the best you can do? Maybe explain what you want to do and how you think it will help? What about my sinuses is actually causing the problem with my ears? What is your plan to fix my ears if this doesn't resolve the issue? Needless to say, I did not stick around to schedule the surgery. I ended up going to another ENT doc who did a few more detailed exams and MRI's and finally got a more detailed explanation of my issue. Dr. Gumprecht was not incorrect that I needed surgery to correct the problem with my sinuses, but my ears were definatly going to need a seperate surgery to fix them. His bedside manner and lack of providing a detailed explanation of what my problem was and how to fix it was soo off putting that I will never go back to see him. If you want to charge me a lot of money and then start cutting and sewing on my nose and ears, you better dang well explain it in minute detail! read more

I may not be alive if it wasn't for Dr. Gumprecht. Now that might seem a little dramatic, I know, but for the past 15 years Dr. Gumprecht has been curing me of all my allergy, sinus, and ear infections. When it came time to finally correct my "genetically impaired" sinuses I trusted Dr. Gumprecht to "dig in" and correct my sinus problems. From his skillful knowledge pre-surgery, to his kind bed side manner after, he helped answer my questions and take away all the fears that exist with surgery. I still visit Dr. Gumprecht when I get sick or sinus infections flare back up, and he always seems to magically heal me. Dr. Gumprecht is a genuis. I wouldn't trust anyone else to clear my ear wax when it gets plugged up. He's an expert, extremely cordial, and super fast. I recommend him wholeheartedly! I went in to see Dr. Gumprecht for an ear infection. The office staff there were all very welcoming and made sure I felt comfortable. Dr. Gumprecht did a thorough examination and explained what he saw. We went over what the plan of action would be in the office and then what I would do at home. He was very helpful and caring. I will definitely go back for any ear issues I have and would recommend him as well. read more

After waiting for 30 minutes in an empty greeting room. Finally got to talk with Dr Gumprecht for no more that 3 minutes before he sent me to another Dr to get bone implanted hearing aids. I paid my $50 copay and made sure my Premera account had the proper primary care referral and left Dr Gumprecht's office. Upon showing the new EN&T doctor my hearing test results that I also shared with Dr Gumprecht - I was told that I did not qualify for bone implanted hearing aids and that was that! What a total waste of time and $100 for 2 copays! Dr Gumprecht should retire as he really is just giving out weak referrals. On top of this all I just received a $330 bill from Dr Gumprecht for his 3 minute worthless chat. Apparently Premera insurance will not pay him and it's been over 5 months since my appointment. Stay away from Dr Gumprecht - he and his "team" are not helping anybody... read more

I had ear problems all my life and have seen lots of otolaryngologists. Dr. Gumprecht was very thorough and noticed the underlying reason of the recurring ear inflammations. He gave me medication for ETD that is causing the inflammation instead of just another dose of antibiotics for the infection that usually follows the initial pains. I'm very pleased that the real problem is being treated this time. Yes, he ordered a few tests that other doctors never did, but the tests revealed the real problem. So maybe this time I will have a permanent solution and just maybe I can stop living on antibiotics. read more

Dr Gumprecht rejected a refill request for my son (18 y.o), stating that we needed an office visit for that as the last time he had seen my son was around a year ago. Same symptoms, diagnosed as something minor on the first visit, and my son was leaving for college 2 days later (flying). Didn't care one minute about the timing (it was a friday and of course he had no availability), leaving us with one option, urgent care. I found that very rigid and not really caring. read more

The care provider gave me a nose exam w/o enough explanation. He sprayed lots of medicine to my nose to numb and enlarge the pathway for the exam. He sprayed, left and had me wait, came back to sprayed more, and then repeated it again and again for 5 times. During this process, I asked twice whether the medicine had been enough. He didn't answer my questions, but continued with more spray. The micro-probe he used for the exam was only in my nose for a very short distance and time. The medicine seemed way too much to me for that. I'm not a doctor, but I can put a cotton stick in the same distance w/o any medication. I ended up having really bad headaches from the medication for over 14 hours afterwards and caused me not able to sleep at night. He diagnosed me with deviations in my middle nasal and issues with my nostrils. He drew very curved "S" shape on top of a nose drawing paper and circled both sides of the nostril areas several times to demonstrate that. He prescribed medications for those conditions. He also had me watch an old video for sinus surgery which was not helpful but another 30 mins to spend and wait (It was already long wait to see him). He was trying to indicate possibility of surgery to me. My primary referred me to get a second opinion. The second ENT doctor from the Evergreen hospital said to me he "completely disagreed with Dr Gumprecht's diagnose". I showed Dr Gumprecht's drawing to him. But he said there was no deviation at all, and in fact my nose and sinus were all healthy. The problems I was having were due to something else. It was a dramatically different positive experience visiting the second doctor in all fronts (manner, wait time, professionalism etc) In the end Dr Gumprecht charged me and my insurance an astonishing $808 for this one single visit. It was for a horrible experience, pain and suffering, waste of hours/days time, and scary mis-diagnose. I cannot say enough to avoid such a doctor. read more

IF YOU ONLY WANT TO HEAR ABOUT HOW YOU "NEED" SURGERY, GO SEE DR. GUMPRECHT. Office is nice and his Medical Assistant is very friendly BUT I went in for a sinus infection and he recommended a CT scan to see what was going on. I went ahead and got it. He gave me a prescription and sent me home. A week later I had to go to an URGENT CARE clinic because my infection got worse. HE GAVE ME THE WRONG ANTIBIOTIC!!!! When I returned to my "follow up visit" (just a reason to charge ANOTHER $300) he didn't even apologize for the prescription incident. This issue with my sinus started about a year ago and he told me it was because of a deviated septum (WHAAAAT??) In 24 yrs I've never had an issue. OBVIOUSLY he "recommended" SURGERY! A $6000 SURGERY! I've been infection free since Aug 2013 just with saline rinses. BUT I'm stuck with a +$1000 BILL (And I have REALLY GOOD INS) Also, their billing person, Dianne, is EXTREMELY RUDE when you call to set up a plan to pay off the account. Save yourself some headaches and go someplace else. read more

Dr. Gumprecht is a great Dr. When I was young I had bloody noses that lasted 45 min with blood clots the size of my fist. My mother taking me to the dr every time, the doctors doing nothing for years, I eventually grew out of it. But the sinus headaches/migraines kept getting worse and worse over the years. I went to regular doctors, and different ENT's I even tried a naturalist.. I was at the point if giving up when I got a head cold and randomly found Dr. Gumprecht's office. He put me on some medication for 14 days.. And scheduled me a cat scan. After talking with him about the results I ended up needing surgery. He was great about explaining what needed to be fixed and how he was going to fix it. I had no hesitation about scheduling the surgery, and I sighed in relief that finally someone took the time to fix the underlining cause and not just the symptoms. I had surgery and he was amazing about rechecking me every few days, then once a week until I was completely healed. His staff made me feel so welcome and worked with me when I needed to go in unexpectedly. I can't tell you how much he has changed my life. I can breath freely for the fist time in my life and I have not had a sinus headache or migraine since my surgery 6 months ago. I would and have recommended Dr. Gumprecht to anyone and everyone. There will always be that one person that is unhappy with anyone's service but I am living proof that he is a highly recognized and amazing doctor that cares about his patients. Hey, you know patients always complains about waiting at doctor office. well this is one place you will not be sitting too long in the waiting room. I just sat down and grab a magazine, next thing I know M.A called my name ready to me back to examine room. This doctor has a nice patient flow and he understand patients valiable time and his expertise and bed side matter is superb!!!! I visited doctor Gumprecht just once and it changed my whole perspective on how to approach the doctors. I visited the doctor for my cough which i believe i got from throat infection and stayed for a week, i was having this throat pain and I thought its a good idea to visit an ENT to check the cough. I was charged with 650$ for my visit. 318 for initial visit charge and 360 for a laryngoscopy test which now i think wasn't required. It was a 2 mins test and I was not at all aware what the test is called and they are going to charge me additional 400$ for that test. This was terrible when I received the total charge and had to pay 600$ from my pocket. There billing department was not very receptive too. I am not going to visit this doctor again and will be very careful before visiting any doctor now onwards. This is the first time i have had such experience. read more

I have been going to Dr. Gumprecht for over 15 years. My husband also sees this doctor. He is very smart and personable and has helped me tremendously with sinus issues. He keeps up on the latest treatments and got me started using Earplanes when they first arrived in stores; before then, I suffered from a lot of pain in my ears when I traveled by plane. I was treated with medicines for a long time before sinus surgery was recommended. The surgery has seriously helped reduce the frequency of my sinus infections. Dr. Gumprecht is also always prompt for office visits, which is really great. I have recommended him to many family and friends over the years. He is an amazing doctor! read more

CAUTION! Dr. Gumprecht is VERY expensive $318 for an office visit, and another $306 for a 10 second scope of my nose/throat (FOR STREP THROAT?!) followed by another office visit 1week later to see how I was when he didn't give me antibiotics for the strep until 3 days before the appointment, making the follow up appointment a transparent move to get another expensive office visit charge. He is a nice guy and seems knowledgeable, but I will forever grill every doctor prior to even considering visiting their office on what everything will cost and will refuse "simple tests" knowing that they may be entirely unnecessary, inappropriate for the actual symptoms, and obscenely expensive regardless of how quick and simple the test may be! He has changed the way I approach doctors from now on. I will operate on the assumption that greed may be their primary motivation for each test and office visit. read more
