Although the food came fast as is was a walk-in order, the food tasted subpar and unmemorable.

I've enjoyed Gum Wah's Chinese food since I was a child growing up in Midlothian. Everything they serve is delicious and they are always busy, so I know other people feel the same way I do. Definitely worth trying out where you come to town. read more

This place was my favorite for years.. the beef fried rice was always awesome with huge chunks of beef.. I ordered my usual the other day and it was mediocre and hardly any beef at all.. Disappointed read more

Always fresh such nice polite service. Egg foo young combo five and egg rolls they have special egg roll as well very good

We've ordered from here a couple times. Both delivery and pick up. The restaurant is not open so you can't dine in. I also ask for extra sweet and sour packets and never receive them unless I go to pick up the order and watch them add the packets. When you order online there are spots to add notes and that note always gets ignored. We ordered pineapple beef fried rice and no pineapple was added. Potstickers are hit or miss. Last time they were great. This time the dough was chewy. Egg rolls are usually good but tonight some of the egg roll wrap on the inside didn't seem cooked. There was also a small piece of shrimp in my vegetable egg roll. This could be an issue for someone that has a shellfish allergy read more

Ordered the roast pork and mushroom egg foo young and the pork was completely raw! DO NOT EAT

This place is a neighborhood staple and has the best crab Rangoon you'll ever try. The rice is also amazing. My go to is either their sweet-and-sour chicken or special orange chicken. Both with so much flavor. Highly recommend. read more

Recently switched owners... orange chicken definitely upgraded and is a family favorite. Beef fried rice was very oily the first time I ordered. The second time I ordered, I asked for less oil and it was much better. Overall, rice had great favor. read more

I have been going here since 1997. The service (Bruce and Julie) were always so kind an professional. The food was amazing. I hadn't realized Bruce had retired till today, when I picked up my order. The food is still good, but they no longer give you almond cookies or fortune cookies. Imagine getting Chinese food and not at least getting a fortune cookie! I hope that changes. By the way, Congratulations Bruce and Julie, you deserve it! read more

My Family and I have had very experiences at Gum Wah in past with their menus and service ! Recommend who enjoy their Chinese Food !

The steak & shrimp fried rice was overly greasy. I did call to let them know about . Two weeks later I went in and asked them to please not to use so much grease again even before I left I checked and it was more greasy than the first time. I told them I could not eat that to make it over or refund my money. They apologize and gave me a refund. Will not go back due to not wanting to deal with any craziness. Listen to your customers when asking for certain things I don't think it should have been to hard for them not to use less grease. read more

The food is really good and the service is great! Placed a pickup order very close to closing time and when I arrived the food was ready for pick up. The woman who took my order was very nice and friendly and the young man who gave me my order was really friendly. I love Gum Wah!!! read more

We tried this place for the first time. I ordered the orange chicken lunch special, which came with fried rice, cookie and a crab rangoon. The chicken is actually very good. It kind of reminds me of a chicken nugget or something, but it was tasty. I enjoyed the fried rice as well. The crab rangoon was ok. My fiancé ordered the pineapple chicken lunch special. His came with an egg roll, cookie and fried rice. He loved his food. He said it was one of the better Chinese places we've tried. The workers were extremely nice. There is a small parking area in front. read more

I don't remember this restaurant. It was unmemorable. Delivery was fast though. I think I had jumbo shrimp egg too young and fried rice.

Great service and food taste great! I would definitely recommend for some great Chinese food.

Unassuming little take-out only place in Midlothian. Got the chicken subgum lunch special which came with fried rice AND an egg foo young patty (veg). $10! Amazing food and a greater value, can't wait to try everything on the menu read more

Always good and hot Chinese food, delicious Won Ton soup, I've had several entrees over the years. They are all excellent, I've never had anything wrong with my entrees or receiving my order properly. I had a previous review but thought it was time to update that review. I was happy then years ago and still happy with ordering there now. How you order is up to you I always call my order in or go in for carry-out. They also have delivery service. Either way you will enjoy your Chinese carry-out. read more

Good. But what I ordered was short. Had takeout. One order of orange chicken really large for the price. The chicken was fairly decent chunks of white meat. Good. But the sauce, curiously served in the side in a separate container was plain bad. A sugary syrup with a remote hint of orange. Will not order this ever again. The rest of the order was ok. The egg fuyong was very good and fried rice was actually very good. I will really give it 3.5 stars. Will I go back. Yes I will but they need to fix the orange chicken. I will try something else. Update 1/26. Got a reply from the manager. I just love when they write back. It means that your feedback matters. Always a good sign Thanks for that mr manager read more

My Partner and I drive OTR trucks and was waiting on my truck to get loaded so we were hungry. We ran down to get some Chinese food. we stopped by and got food. They were very large portions. The food was great reasonably priced definitely be back for more hot and sour soup was great and the Singapore noodles were also great. Had lots of shrimp, pork and the curry sauce. The soup had wontons, chicken, bean, sprouts, and plenty of vegetables. Flavoring was great. Definitely be back. We live in Virginia. read more

Shrimp Fried rice was hard. Orange chicken is not like the one I'm used to getting they serve breaded chicken and the sauce on the side. read more

The Eggrolls were delicious me and my mom and grandma got fried vegetable rice and it was just white rice with soy sauce it wasn't good and it tasted fake read more

So first time trying this place was yesterday and the first thing that comes to mind is INCREDIBLE. This restaurant is hands down my new go to spot my orange chicken was incredibly fresh and it wasn't the super sweet and saucy orange chicken you normally get My wife had Mongolian beef and she said it was amazing but the crab Rangoon was so so good best Rangoon I've ever had no doubt and then I can honestly say you now have a repeat customer ! read more

Great food! Hands down the best crab Rangoon I've ever had in my life and I've had a lot. I've been a customer for over 20 years now. All their food is great but you absolutely must try the crab Rangoon. You won't regret it. read more

Was in town for business and decided to give this spot a try. The large chunks of beef and fresh vegetables the Mongolian beef had made for a good meal. I was not bloated after the meal and I ate more then half the large takeout box. The food wasn't excessive in MSG and it wasn't salty. The crab Rangoon was definitely better then most and a must try. This isn't your local hole in the wall joint which offers cheap food to fill your belly. The price is somewhat proportionate with what your purchasing. read more

This is by far thee worst Chinese food in the area. I ordered 50$ worth of food and everything was bland and and poorly made. I personally had shrimp lo mein and this is what I received. It tastes like chicken noodle soup. The noodles were gummy and there was barely any inside the box. The only sold a size large yet it was still only half filled. The shrimp fried rice was bland as well as the egg foo young. I tried to called and get this resolved and even offered to even just bring everything back cause my family do not like this piss poor slop. The chef or owner was beyond rude and told me maybe I should go to White Castle or McDonald's. I'm beyond disappointed. I wouldn't recommend this to a dog nonetheless a human. I wish this could've been resolved but after being yelled at over the phone. This is what the result was. read more

Food was okay but could not recommend this restaurant in good conscience. Service was good but the food was nothing to write home about. We will not ever go back. read more

I read a lot of reviews and view pics from friends about this particular Chinese restaurant, so I decided to try it, got hubby shrimp egg foo young and myself 2 veggie egg rolls. and Crab Rangoon Yummy, I will say the food was better than any Chinese food I have ever had. I tried this place last week. Ordered the lobster Egg Foo Yung, shrimp egg rolls, and potstickers. Everything was excellent. The potstickers were the largest I've ever had. Everything was fresh and piping hot. Highly recommended. read more

The girl on the phone was so nice, and the delivery driver went the extra mile (literally) to take us our order so we didn't have to go through Doordash. Wonderful service ordering delivery from these guys! This was a trial run for me and my SO, since the place we usually order from 1x a week is temporarily closed, so we were super pumped to hear this place had some great reviews. Some of what we ordered was great, but unfortunately some things were kind of gross. Marinated mushroom appetizer was a good portion and super tasty with plenty of umami and salt. Wonton soup was excellent! Crab rangoon was packed, and I mean PACKED with stuffing which was wonderful, but the dough was super thick and tough which was a let down. They were heavy instead of light and airy. Veggie delight was just okay. Mango smoothie was okay too. Garlic beef was largely inedible though and it was swimming in sauce-- literally. You couldn't even see the beef in its pool of soupy mess, and what was there was not much. Since that's my SO's go-to I'm not sure we'll be ordering again, but that shouldn't keep ya'll from checking it out. It's a lot better than any Chinese place in Blue Island, that's for sure! read more

We enjoy your food and LOVE that you use paper box containers and paper bags instead of plastic!

The owner is always very friendly and food is great. I would recommend the place. There is a slight language barrier when the older person answers but overall we understand each other. read more

It was ok not great just ok, I will not be my first choice ok it was ok, call ahead for sure lobby small two people inside is enough.

Chicken pineapple fried rice was criminal. Chicken tasted old. Pineapple, ditto. Jumbo shrimp egg foo yung was ... adequate. Chinese war mein, the noodles were laughable. Mushy, as if cooked FOREVER. Egg rolls were meh. Their food just isn't that good. I'm astonished by reviews that rave about the food. It was quite lousy actually. Tracy Score: Plastic read more
