We had the pleasure of eating here during our stay in Pentwater. We did not read any yelp reviews before we ate here... Thank god! We had a good experience. Our food came super fast! I got the prime rib sandwich and it was quite good! My husband got the prime rib and said it was just ok. It wasn't cooked to his liking. I have been to Gull Landing probably 15 times in 10 years. It's a given that the service is slow, (it's located in an awesome beach town and there is a flood of vacationers in the summer) so we just plan ahead for the slowness. But my main problem is with the food and drinks. They are not good the majority of the time and the prices are really high for what you get. Can't believe I kept thinking that "it will be better next time" all these years. After this summers experiences, I have now decided that I'm never going back. A group of eight ladies chose to eat lunch at Gull Landing on Saturday, July 8, 2017. After ordering sandwiches, we waited 1 1/2 hours to get our food! Tables that arrived after us were served & had paid their bills, and were gone well before our food arrived. First time eating here. Very pricey for what you get. To start off the waiter told us the specials. I had prime rib special, my wife had ordered the white fish special. My one son ordered ribs and the other a burger. They told us 40 min for food which was ok as they were busy. 5 min after ordering the waiter came back and said they were out of ribs. 5 min later he came back and said they were out of the white fish special. REALLY???? The food did arrive in 40 min. Very dissappointed. My boys said burgers were good but my prime rib was very tough and potatos were luke warm at best. My wifes fish was ok. We stopped here for dinner last week. Had a discount from restaurants.com They have lots of outdoor seating that is a lot of fun on a nice day. There are live bands a couple of evenings each week. The restaurant is right downtown near the marina. You can peoplewatch those wandering around town. I had the coconut shrimp and it was good. It was on a skewer instead of the normal butterfly presentation but it was really tasty. My husband had fish which he really liked. We were too full for dessert so can't help you there. read more

I went here for dinner tonight with my family- party of 11. The service was terrible. They forgot to bring out our salads and soup. It eventually came out with our food - an hour after we ordered. Manager provided us with free desserts so that was nice that they were willing to make it right. The mushroom ravioli and bean burgers were real good. Overall food was average. I am a big user of Yelp. I travel a lot and I use Yelp in anytown I am in. Recently I was in Pentwater and was looking for a place to eat. I had eaten at Gulls Landing quite a few years earlier so I checked it out on Yelp. I saw that its rating was quite low. We ended up going with a group of 8. We all ordered dinners - most of us seafood and all eight of us really loved our food and the service was quite good as well. I usually find the Yelp rating to be right on, but in this case I really felt compelled to right this review since we all really enjoyed it. read more

My fiancé and I went here while on a family vacation and absolutely loved the location. In fact, that is the best thing this restaurant has. The food was okay, a little bland but most definitely better than most restaurants around per our limited experience, and the service was the same, but the ambiance and the drinks were fantastic. Their sunny deck overlooks the lake and they have some creative specialty drinks and an extensive beer and wine list (owing in part to the attached wine and cheese shop). I got the loaded Bloody Mary, we started our meal with the Mediterranean potato skins, and had the lobster cakes and Cajun burger for our meal. The Cajun burger was hardly Cajun, the lobster cakes a little mushy (and smothered in Alfredo sauce), and the artichoke dip that came with our app tasted more like a very mild hummus than a zesty artichoke dip. Also beware the mashed potatoes which are very garlic mashed (and the menu won't tell you that). Overall, the place was fine, maybe even close to good. I had no complaints. Labor Day weekend Friday night. Outside was pretty busy but we found a table we wanted. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Cute too. We ordered chicken Caesar salad and a coconut shrimp salad, both very good. I'm picky when it comes to the lettuce and leafy stuff in my salad but the romaine was tasty and fresh. Didn't taste like it came out of a Sysco or GFS bag. Iced tea was also good and not out of a fountain. Served with fresh lemon as it should be. I do believe the other Yelpers' experiences and that they could have been better. But for us I think we lucked out tonight. Service and food were perfect. I dropped a star because the prices were on the high side, especially for salads. No reason why a salad should cost as much as an entree, period. Drinks a little high too. I get that it's pentwater and rich Chicago snobs come to visit often, but value is value no matter what. No one wants to feel taken. read more

The patio seating is beautiful especially for a drink, however catching a buzz is the only way you will be able to wait out the interminably long wait for your food. We went on a Wed for music while we were at the sand dunes. The food was decent in fact it was pretty good. The server and service was HORRIBLE. The server brought a bottle of wine with the cork in and set it on the table like I have a opener in my pocket. The wine glasses were for white not red and the glasses were soaking wet. We dined at the Gull Landing last week while visiting Pentwater. We have dined there four or five times over the years. It has always been good until our most recent visit which was just awful. It took and hour and 10 minutes to get our food from the time we were seated. All of the meals for the nine of us were either cold or luke warm at best when we were finally served. The prices on some items like the lake perch are ridiculous. The meatloaf was nasty. The $14 Ruben Sandwich was very small. We will not return. read more
