A difficult & abused feeling experience with this firm…read more I needed legal help to process the estate of my deceased mother. I ended up wasting six months and about $4K, paid in fees, with no outcome with Geller Law. I was first requested to have a mandatory paid initial consultation session to go over my legal help needed. I was introduced to Julie S. during this session. After describing my specific case & needs, she informed me that Geller Law can handle my case. What followed was months of emotional stress & redundant conversations with the staff of this firm that yielded no results. It became clear to me that they didn't know how to legally handle my case. Some staff members were argumentative & appeared trying to take advantage of this emotional situation for me. There were redundant conversations that I was later billed for. I concluded that this firm is not the choice that can handle my case professionally. I terminated my work with them. The new law firm I selected to handle my case turned out to be more knowledgeable for my case. And, more compassionate with me. The process was handled smoothly & professionally to completion.

There is no question in my mind my children are healthy and safe today because of the immediate and…read moredecisive actions Laila Raheen took following a troubling situation that put my children at risk. Earlier this year, I found myself in an incredibly difficult position. Due to unexpected and unfortunate mental health issues with my ex-wife, I believed my children were no longer safe in the current custody agreement we had. I did not know what I could do or what my options were, but knew I needed to act immediately to protect my children. Ms. Raheen had represented me during my divorce three years prior. During that time, I had gained a great deal of trust and respect for Ms. Raheen and her paralegal Taryn Arp. Three years later when my children's safety became a concern, I immediately called Ms. Raheen again and requested her help. I was pleased to learn that even though several years had passed since my divorce, Ms. Raheen was still familiar with the facts of my case and she was prepared to tell me my options. She was decisive and acted quickly to move my children legally into my custody until we could ensure their safety. In addition, I also had Jennifer Huchler and Paralegal Taryn Arp working on my case. I valued Ms. Huchler's input and was confident in the work she did on my behalf. Ms. Huchler and Ms. Raheen were knowledgeable experts I could trust to safely voice my concerns to and ask questions of during our meetings. They were all easily accessible, quick to respond, and always thoughtful with my time. This was a difficult case with complicated issues. Ms. Raheen always made keeping my kids safe her number one priority, and she produced results that did exactly that. I am so grateful for the work done by Ms. Raheen, Ms. Huchler, and Ms. Arp.

Honestly, if I could give 0 stars, I would…read more Whatever you do, don't hire this firm. They are extremely expensive and, in my experience, seemed more focused on billing than on helping their clients. I worked with Teddi and Sunny, and I regret my decision. I spent over $12,000 on my case and was repeatedly told they could handle it. I shared how serious and urgent my situation had become, but I felt very little was done to move my case forward. After my first court hearing, they chose to withdraw from representing me, which was both surprising and disappointing. Another frustrating issue was being billed for reviewing and responding to numerous emails sent by the opposing parties. Even though I wasn't the one initiating those communications, I was still charged for the time spent addressing them, which significantly increased my legal fees. After hiring a new attorney, I was told that my case should have been handled differently. Looking back, I wish I had known more about the firm's experience with family law before retaining them. Had I known, I would have chosen different representation from the beginning. This was my personal experience, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this firm. For the amount I paid, I expected far better communication, advocacy, and results.

Very rarely does any judge sustain a demurrer. A demurrer says a complaint is not grounded in law…read moreand should be dismissed outright. In this case, unable to handle getting dumped by his ex, Plaintiff - Mr. Atchuthan Sriskandarajah (an attorney himself) - filed a defamation complaint against his ex & two other parties. The complaint was rather stupid and had very little substance. Mr. Lee Berlik represented the Defendants and absolutely crushed the Plaintiff. In fact, during discovery, when the Plaintiff realized that the case was backfiring on him, it was hilarious to see the Plaintiff cave in so quickly from his original request of $2.5 million down to 10,000 dollars. In the end, Plaintiff did not get even a penny & his case didn't make it past the demurrer. Plaintiff even tried going to the supreme court but the supreme court did not even want to listen to such a stupid complaint. I know enough about defamation law to tell a good attorney from a bad one. Lee is the best defamation attorney & knows the law inside out. I would highly recommend Lee!

I wanted to explain the situation, bring all documentation, and get an honest assessment as to whether or not I should be concerned about this meritless suit -- could this potentially become a serious headache and attempt to just get me to spend a lot of money for a case that would, no doubt, be dismissed? Lee listened to me; he asked the right questions; and confirmed my assumptions that the other attorney threatening a lawsuit had no legal bearing to do so. I felt so much better after our consultation, at least knowing that 1) What I assumed was validated; and 2) If I receive further threats against this attorney, I know who to call and who will be able to help me put a stop to the nonsense and abuse to our legal system. The consultation with Lee was worth every penny!

I came to work with…read moreher after reaching out to the Lawyer Referral Service through the Fairfax Bar Association, and I truly am so grateful for the chance referral that has led to top-notch representation since I first met her around May 2024. Through a protective order hearing, emergency hearings, a full day trial, and two settlements, Shirley always made me feel heard and has helped me see the bigger picture of the long-term. She is a mother of three herself and very attuned to concerns that mothers have, particularly when dealing with substance abuse and high-conflict individuals. I worked with three other attorneys prior to her in my custody matters involving my children, and I am truly blown away by her knowledge, empathy, and commitment to her clients. The difference in representation was immediately clear to me. Whether it was in Arlington or Fairfax, JDR or circuit court, Shirley has always gone above and beyond for me in two intertwined and complex custody cases. Shirley is exceptionally well-versed in family law and understands not only the legal framework, but the strategy behind it. She is thoughtful, thorough, and incredibly prepared. What sets her apart, though, is her ability to combine sharp legal skill with genuine compassion. She listens carefully, validates concerns, and then goes above and beyond to advocate effectively. Throughout my cases, I felt supported, informed, and confident that I had someone in my corner who truly cared about achieving the best possible outcome for my children. Her work ethic and attention to detail are unmatched. If you are navigating a complex custody situation and want an attorney who is brilliant, strategic, and deeply dedicated to her clients, I highly recommend Shirley.

That upfront honesty saved me a massive amount of time, money, and unnecessary anxiety. When it came to litigation and dealing with opposing counsel, she was an absolute powerhouse. She was able to see what I wasn't able to and her attention to detail in our discovery and filings was so helpful. She cuts right to the heart of the matter, and protects your interests without dragging out the drama. If you want an attorney who is highly efficient, completely transparent, and executes a case with total precision, Shirley is the only person you should call. I post this as a person deeply concerned about how this office serves divorce notices. The paperwork from my divorce separation agreement/address/phone number were taped to my door, not in an envelope, for my entire apartment building to see. I say this also on behalf of my soon to be ex-husband because sensitive information about him was in the document as well. When I went to alert the firm that this had happened and that they should put such notices in an envelope, the receptionist or paralegal was incredibly rude, and said "let me cut you off there and ask you to put your concerns in an email to....." This is vile, unprofessional, and unethical. If you want your information left on someone's door for neighbors to be able to see, go with this firm. I would rather hire someone with some discretion and decorum that would be expected of an attorney's office.
