Gulf Gate Rescreening performed several services with excellence. At first I got an estimate to rescreen my pool after the renovation, but then we decided to redo the decking and eliminate the screen. They were flexible at changing the service to removal. They did a fast and thorough job at the removal, and the cleaned up well. Later, when we were ready to replace the pool area gutters, the came through again. They first removed the old gutters and the metal "wrapping" around the facia. We discovered the wood rot was pretty bad and postponed the install. We looked around for carpenters to fix the facia and found a few 5-star rated ones. We also asked Gulf Gate who they recommended and it was one of the 5-Star people we found. These guys were great as well. They convinced me to use cedar instead of pressure-treated and that led to us cancelling a new install of the "wrapping" but Gulf Gate, who had no problem with the cancellation. Finally, they installed the 6-inch Super Gutters, which are extremely strong and designed to support a pool cage. We are not reinstalling a cage, but these are the only gutters that would go with the straight-line modern architecture of our house. They look great and are big enough to handle a hurricane (which also means they are a bit pricey). I definitely recommend this company! read more

They answered the phone right away and had Jim reach out to me the same day to set a time for a walk through. He was very prompt, professional, and gave me a quote on the spot. He helped me select the screen and the work was performed while I was out of town. Just got back and the visibility of the Phifer, 18x14 fiberglass screen in charcoal is fantastic. I was worried charcoal color would impact the view because it was dark but in fact it absorbs the light with no reflection so the eye just sees past it. Extremely Disappointed - Poor Communication and Major Oversight from Start to Finish We initially chose GulfGate Aluminum for this project based on a positive prior experience with their estimator, whose honesty impressed us. A couple of years ago, we hired them to screen in our lanai. During that process, the estimator discovered that the "no see-um" screen we paid for had not actually been installed. He was upfront about the mistake and applied a credit toward a future project. Because of this integrity, we felt confident moving forward with GulfGate to build a 17x20 enclosure with a paver patio extension. Unfortunately, that confidence was badly misplaced. From the very beginning, there were serious missteps. GulfGate showed up several days earlier than scheduled to begin the project--without confirming with us. As a result, a palm tree we had planned to transplant had to be discarded because their workers needed to remove it immediately in order to proceed. This was a frustrating and avoidable situation that foreshadowed the poor communication that would define the rest of the experience. Early in construction, they also removed the entire gutter system along the back of our home, even though only a portion needed to be removed. Again, no confirmation or consultation beforehand--just action without regard for the impact on us as the homeowners. The most significant issue, however, stemmed from the roof style they installed. While our original plans included a hip-style roof, those were submitted before we received conditional HOA approval, which clearly required a mansard-style roof. We promptly provided GulfGate with the updated HOA documentation and were assured they would handle everything accordingly. As a local business owner and a professional, I understand that mistakes can happen. I'm also not in the construction industry, so I didn't realize the wrong roof had been installed until we received an HOA violation letter. We notified GulfGate immediately and requested a plan for how they would resolve the issue, while at the same time we attempted to appeal the violation ourselves. Over the course of the next month, we received no feedback or guidance from them about a possible way forward, and our appeal was ultimately denied. Even after that, we were left waiting even longer while they worked to devise a plan, with no clear updates during that time. When we finally informed them that the structure would not be allowed to remain as-is, they still did not offer a concrete resolution. Instead, they scheduled a final inspection and issued a new installment bill, as if the job was complete. Fortunately, the city inspector who arrived failed the structure, citing the lack of HOA approval. It was only after several weeks of pushing for accountability that a supervisor finally got involved. He admitted he "didn't know how this happened", and finally agreed to prioritize the rebuild with the correct specifications. While the replacement structure was eventually built correctly, the process to get there was riddled with miscommunication, delays, and a disturbing lack of customer consideration. Throughout the entire project, communication from GulfGate's office staff was severely lacking. Appointment confirmations were either nonexistent or so vague ("either this day or that") that we were never certain when someone would show up. We were left constantly guessing and chasing updates--a burden that should never fall so heavily on the customer. While the installers themselves generally did good work, that too came with caveats. After the second rebuild, they left behind scuff marks on our pavers, trash and debris, and several unexplained paint-like markings on the pavers. When we brought this up, the initial response was to suggest the markings were from crayons and not likely their fault. However, after I pointed out similar markings on the aluminum structure itself, clearly made with marker during reconstruction, they finally agreed to address the issue. In the end, as a direct result of the reconstruction, we are now left with visible holes in our pavers where the first enclosure had been installed. That damage remains. Now that the permits are finally closed and the last bill has been paid, we are simply thrilled to be done with this company. This project took close to a year to complete. Good luck to anyone who decides to use them. We are extremely disappointed and cannot recommend GulfGate Aluminum. read more

Contracted Gulf Gate through my pool company for a pool cage installation, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. In hindsight, I wish we had opted to hire a different company directly. From the outset, working with Gulf Gate was problematic. On the first day, the crew damaged our fascia/soffit, exposing the plywood roof and leaving nails from shingles exposed overnight. It was evident they did not anticipate us inspecting their work. Additionally, every single beam installed was scratched, chipped and dented despite the fact that we purchased new aluminum. The crew attempted to cover up the scratches with black paint instead of bronze, making the issue even more noticeable. More concerning was their handling of structural beams. They removed these beams without providing adequate roof support, which was distressing as a homeowner. I had to intervene personally to ensure the roof was supported, a situation made more difficult by the crew's lack of English proficiency. Furthermore, there were issues with the screen door installation and damage to our fence post, which they used as a cutting surface. Despite these problems, Gulf Gate was slow to address them. After the initial installation, they were reluctant to return promptly to fix the issues, with a delay of over a month. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, Gabrielle from scheduling dismissed my concerns, stating that their work had passed inspection, showing little regard for the quality of their workmanship. When Matt, the manager, eventually contacted me, his response was inadequate. He suggested that scratches and dents were normal for outdoor structures, which was unacceptable given that we paid for new, pristine materials. Matt's demeanor during our conversation felt dismissive, and his comments about the size of the company compared to our project were unprofessional. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the incomplete work and the lack of documentation of the issues, the manager (at the office not sure of his name) responded dismissively, saying, "I'll just have my crew pack up and leave then." Matt's approach to addressing my concerns was unprofessional. He refused to acknowledge the substandard quality of the work and was dismissive of my frustration. When I pointed out that I had every right to be upset, and he won't dictate my reactions to the situation, Matt responded by stating, "Well, how about this, I'll dictate when my crew comes out to fix everything." This response was both unprofessional and unhelpful. While Gulf Gate did return to address MOST of the issues after a month, several problems, such as a large dent in a beam that was missed during our walkthroughs, remained unresolved. This experience underscores the importance of getting it right the first time. Our fence still has holes and aluminum in it/on it. Facia is still scratched and dented in a specific area. This review aims to provide an honest account of my experience with Gulf Gate. Photos documenting the issues are available for reference. Monday had a new beam installed to replaced the dented one is all scratched up. **response to owner Indeed this is exactly what this platform is used for, I've left very positive reviews on companies and negative ones, but once again it's a review platform it's being used exactly how it should be. Everything is true in this statement which I why we did photos along with every error noted. Our door was hung wrong for over a month they did not resolve it in an appropriate time frame. If me cursing at the situation NOT YOU offends you, if someone's choice of words has that effect on you, maybe you are the problem. UPDATE - Background story below. Manager reached out to me and offered to honor the original price bid. However, we already contracted with someone else and did not feel good about working with a company that was clearly trying to take advantage of storm damage victims. The whole situation never should have happened. We wanted our entire pool cage rescreened. Gulf Gate gave us a written estimate on 9/28/24. We also wanted to consider a clear view screen and they scheduled someone to come out on 10/11/24 to quote that. We decided during that conversation that we wanted to just do the basic rescreening quoted on 9/28. We were then informed that they would not honor the quote that was less than 2 weeks old and it would cost us an extra $1,900 for EXACTLY THE SAME JOB. We were shocked and upset, given that we were repeat customers of Gulf Gate. They ended up knocking off $700 but still wanted $1,200 more than their recent quote. They claimed it was because labor and materials were now more expensive. However other companies who had quoted us recently were willing to honor their quotes, and a company several neighbors are using also gave us a quote post-hurricane in line with the original Gulf Gate quote. Needless to say, we chose a different company who is not trying to take advantage of people with hurricane damage. We do not recommend Gulf Gate and will not use them again. read more

I've used GGR for several projects, with good results. So when I needed to add a patio area to my pool area, I hired them again. The project included taking down the old screen and installing a new larger screen. First of all, the project was started months after I signed a contract with GGR. A demo crew took down the old screen, but left it and the old aluminum posts sitting over and in my pool. My pool guy was unable to access the pool for a month, resulting in his words "in a swamp", green and opaque. Nails littered the bottom of the pool (which my pool guy removed) and I now have permanent rust spots all over the bottom of the pool. Over a year later the pool area was still without a screen or the pool light replaced. The reason for they gave for the delay was "the hurricane mess", but my job was scheduled nearly a year before any storms hit. I have a 5lb dog and young grandchildren and was counting on the screen to help keep them safe. The company asked for my final payment, which I declined to give because they had not completed the work. I asked them to reduce the cost and I would hire my own electrician for the light and repair the walkway they had torn up myself. That was fine with GG, but they would not forgive the bill because they said now payment was overdue and I lost my $2000 on time payment discount!!!! Ultimately I paid them $3000 of the final payment, $3000 more than I should have but in these times a company can ruin a customer's credit rating. My pool area and lanai are totally dark at night, with a hole in the pool where the light should be and caution tape up so no one trips on the walkway they tore up. Estimates to complete the work are $2000 for the light and $500 for the walkway repair. I am a retired nurse living alone and don't have that kind of money. They took advantage of an old woman and it is just not right. Only use this company if you are an attorney who can hold them to their contract. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Let me preface this review with stating that I made multiple attempts to contact the owner ROM GOMES before posting my review. Nic (she's not Nicole as per her introduction to me) would neither connect me to Mr. Gomes phone nor provide his direct email. Her exact words? " oh, that's not gonna happen". The level of incompetence displayed by all members of this Gulf Gate Aluminum team was beyond astounding. These young people are misinformed, unable to listen to the homeowner, and actually rude!! And this is before we moved forward to CONTRACTING. I would hate to see what the installers are like. :( We had a cage estimate which I accepted immediately, and then just as fast , they pulled back. Why? They said they were limited by property setbacks. WRONG. They were limited by permitting regulations. WRONG. I'm on a first name basis with my planning and zoning folks the Gulfgate team doesn't even know who has the jurisdiction of my property here in Venice. Guess what? I do because I am an informed homeowner. :) Each time we tried to call and have a conversation to clarify, rectify and move forward with the project, we were interrupted and told we knew NOTHING about the property that we have owned for 10 years. Nic and Matt argued with us, spoke over us and never cared to have a dialogue. I would avoid Rom Gomes and Gulfgate for any project at your home. Not remorseful for wasting your time! Went on a ride to nowhere with Gulf Gate Rescreening for 32 days. On 1/12 requested appointment with a checklist of items I needed an estimate for. After a nudge I received an appointment on 1/30 (18 days later), walked the job and discussed the work for almost two hours, their estimator said I'd have an estimate by Wednesday (3 days later), waited a week and sent a follow-up and was promised a prompt response. After two more nudges 14 days after the estimator was here, I received a voicemail from the guy that I had the appointment with that was supposed to send me a bid in 3 days (this is now 14 days after the appointment), "they aren't going to bid on the job because they can't guarantee their work/corrections with the pool cage repairs and no longer do window screens." The list was longer but these were the main things as detailed in my appointment request on 1/12. WHAT!? Can't guarantee their work!? Don't do window screens!? It was in my appointment detail and the estimator measured all the windows/etc. which took a lot of time for him todo. I actually didn't ask for a work guarantee so those words struck me funny, since we are talking about cage supports and rescreening. Their core line of work. Anyhow, it was a colossal waste of time with little organization from their office to the field. I'm sure working with them would've been an unpredictable mess. I feel like a dodged a problem vendor here. 32 days of waiting, wondering, and then receiving the ultimate disappointment. Smh. These guys are not champs in this space. read more

Since posting the 1st review 16 days ago, the company reached out to me. Somehow my earlier efforts to try and resolve my issues had slipped through the cracks. Now, they have responded. The problem is a little complicated, and involves water/ rain issues. This vendor and my HOA do not agree on the source of the problem. The "why's". It falls on me to get the answers and make the case for "what", "why", and "how", in order to proceed with the actual fixing of the problem. Which is likely going to be my dime, and will involve HOA approval. Good luck to me. Have used gulf gate rescreening twice now on 2 different properties and both times the reps visiting the property have been very courteous and thorough. They take photos to show the damaged areas and email you a proposal showing the screens they want to repair. Both times they had found damage where I didn't realize there was damage and after checking those screens, sure enough, tears or holes! I asked about a finer screen that would have cost me more money, however they advised against this as the winds in our area need to pass through the screen, something I never would have thought of. From the initial contact with Daniel, the sales manager, to the job being done by two very efficient installers, we had a first-rate experience! We appreciate when people say they're going to arrive at such-and-such a time... and Daniel was just that person - he was prompt with his arrival, not to mention professional, not pushy, listened to and answered all our questions, and a really nice all-around guy to talk to. The two installers, who also arrived on time, were very efficient in their work of a total rescreening of our pool cage, along with being super helpful in cleaning out leaf debris that had been collecting for years... and also thoroughly cleaned up after themselves at the end. Any furniture that needed to be moved, they also returned it back to its original place. From start to finish, they were here for about 4 1/2 hours. The bonus was we had a date for our install but Gulf Gate called and asked if we would like to push up our install date (an opening in the schedule). So, everything ended up being done within a week of our initial call. I used Gulf Gate to rescreen my Lanie back in March. I paid in Full at that time. They just sent me a Bill stating I am late with Payment. Ah No! Lets talk about their work. The finished product was fine however it took them TWO DAYS as they ran out of Material. They left a pile of old screening material around the lanie and even in the Pool. One of the workers banged his ladder not just once but twice into the Pool cage. If you choose to use them WATCH them very carefully for Clean up and Billing. They are careless. read more

I have used Gulf Gate for 2 projects. One was a large lanai that had to be partially removed to install a spa and travertine deck. They had to bolt the lanai back down after the install. They were excellent and always on time and very reasonable for the price. Then I had a small window screen project post hurricane. The windows were up 2 stories and the screens got blown out during the storm. I called around to a lot of re-screen places because I thought it was probably too small of a job for Gulf Gate. I got no response from the other companies so I took a chance and called Gulf Gate. They were here within a week and they made two new screens and installed in about 2-3 hours. I never write reviews but I really feel they are a quality company and they did an excellent job. I highly recommend them and would use them again in a heartbeat! read more

We are new to the area and wanted to get the screen panels replaced on our deck/lanai. I called Gulf Gate on 10-29-22 and left a message. They got back to me on 11-2-22. They stated they would be out for an estimate within a week but were very busy, could be longer. I understand that. So I finally called 11-18-22. They then told me that our condo was no longer in their territory due to the amount of work they had. It may be in the future but not now. I asked why I had not been contacted about this. They stated that we had been called and a message had been left. We are new here and the voice mail has not been setup yet. Perfect job in terms of price, quality install, customer relations, punctuality and cleanup. A rat chewed a corner of the new screening. I called and they said somebody would come out and give me an estimate. Because of my previous experience, I said "Don't bother with an estimate. Repair it and bill me." I put the date in my calendar and forgot about it because I knew I would be at home when they arrived. Today I got a $65 bill in the mail for replacing a 4x10 piece of screening. Receptionist was very nice and professional explaining to me the guys will call me from the job and give me a price. If I agree they will do it right then and there. My quote for rescreening 6 panels of which 2 were super small was 1,200.00. I told the estimator no way!!! . I was unfairly declined by my insurance company as many were for storm damages and have to pay out of pocket. I felt that this was a scam. The gentlemen finally came down 50% on his price and screens were done in less then a hour! Daniel called me up the following week to come and give me an estimate to fix my cage. (Paint, change out rusty screws, pressure wash and will have to be rescreened) When I spoke to the person on the phone he told me after pulling up on the computer the size of my pool cage it would run anywhere from 4,000 to 6,000 but he would have Daniel come out at look. I was going to wait to get screens fixed and just do full cage facelift. However, when Daniel called he said it would run 10,000 to 12,000! What? My pool cage is not big at all! Be aware! At that price I could almost buy a new cage! Is this company chasing Insurance money? Very disappointing to say the least. I told Daniel not to even bother coming out. Gulfgate Screen was on our Vendor list at our Condo on Siesta Key... It's been taken off after my experience!! The guys came in with Dirty Boots!! I said "Are your boots clean?" He wiped them back and forth on our Area rug and said "yes" The quote was for 2 side panels on our lanai $160.00. Thought it was pricey but I had no choice. After they left I noticed that the bottom 1' was Not Done!! I called and complained. The girl said send a pic. I did and No Response.. I called her back and she said "What's wrong with it?"
