It was awesome knowing they were with people who knew them and loved them. Our dog Charlie ran and jumped in the lake immediately! Happy as can be. A huge shoutout to Derrick! When our son was born 4 weeks early he went out of his way to pick our dogs up when we were stuck at the hospital. He truly loves the dogs and cares about the families. Fabian at the Dog Wizard was able to turn everything around for us thankfully. We boarded Bear at the facility in US 64 and Fabian worked with him daily. What he graduated from the program he was sitting and lying down in his place every time we asked. Before training he refused to go on walks because of his intense fear. Now, we take him on walks around the neighborhood every day. Not only was Fabian effective but he has repeatedly offered to meet up with us to work with Bear for no extra charge. Every two weeks we also can attend alumni classes on a Saturday at local parks which helps Bear keep up his training. I can't say enough about how great of a job Fabian did. He saved Bear's life. There are pros and cons to using this facility. The pros are that it is beautiful, many of the…read moresuites have 24/7 cameras so you can check in on your baby throughout the day, and it is conveniently located. The cons are that the front desk service is very hit or miss which can be distressing. Sometimes the reception folks are very nice and helpful, but honestly the majority of the time they are sulky and sullen. They won't even make eye contact, and any question you may have they make you feel like you're wasting their time. Additionally, many of the front desk staff don't seem to have a complete understanding of policies and pricing. I'd say 75% of the time when I call, the call goes to voicemail but the voicemail box is full, so I'm unable to leave a message. My dog is my baby so it's stressful to drop her off and feel like no one really cares about her or if I feel comfortable. I'm sure the staff that interacts with the animals is more enthusiastic but it is still a bummer. To be clear I've never had any issues with my dog coming home in anything but great shape and she doesn't seem unhappy when we arrive. I just think the customer-facing staff could use an attitude adjustment considering how much I spend here.

I emailed the record to them since their online platform was not uploading it. When I arrived for the designated appointment there was no greeting or welcoming face. I was asked if I wanted to speak with someone and when I asked who that was I was told it was the groomer. I said sure. While waiting I asked if they need to see the vaccine record and was told no they had it (thanks for letting me know). A woman came out of the grooming area and took my dog (but it wasn't the groomer whom I was told would be working on my dog). I was just left in a confused state and not very comfortable about leaving my dog there. They did a decent job on the mini groom and my dog did not seem stressed so well done .

Fasr forward to now, I called Julie, a little panicky because my spouses Parkinson's was progressing making it harder to make Willow as happy as she could be. Julie took Willow for a week long boot camp and what a change after a few days. She came back to us much happier and more than willing to do what we ask of her. She is much more cautious around my spouse and the incessant barking has stopped. Julie even spent time in our home giving us tips on Willows behavior and triggers. Barking , guarding my door, attacking people who came near my room. This wasn't all the time but he was a loose cannon, which gave me serious anxiety. I looked online for dog training and the reviews for Sam Ivy were very impressive. So, I scheduled my intro meeting with Enzo. He was very in tune with my situation. Very detailed. He laid out the course. The goals, the mission. I was scared, excited, and optimistic. I cried. I laughed. I knew I needed this program. I knew Teddy did. I was however worried I wouldn't be able to meet the tasks at hand because it felt like a big commitment. I'd tried dog training in the past. I hated it. I grew bored, tired and didn't follow the program. I didn't click with the instructors. It was always a one size fits all and that's just not realistic. My meeting with Enzo made me know Sam Ivy would be different. Enzo then matched me with my trainer Holli. Enzo is intuitive. He knew the exact fit for me. Holli guided me through the program, setting attainable goals. Speaking in pragmatic terms. Always, always answering my calls and texts. (And there were many!) Providing the best advice, always so genuine. Dog training is not an exact science. No two dogs are the same, nor dog owners. So, sometimes a certain situation wouldn't work and Holli would pause, think. Then tweak it to suit Teddy's (and/or my) needs. I saw a change in Teddy's behavior immediately. It was so rewarding! I always looked forward to my sessions with Holli. It was fun and more importantly, productive. Teddy has made tremendous progress and continues to do so. In March 2023, I brought home a 3-month old doxie, who was just so cuddly and adorable. I've had…read moredachshunds before and know they can be sassy, but my new pup, Norman, went from cute to nippy to full-on growling/snarling/biting/charging me in about 3 months time. He turned into a total a-hole, Mr. Alpha. Even though he was only 10 lbs, he had some sharp teeth and a bad attitude. I did some basic obedience training with him at my local PetCo, which was good for basic stuff, but he still had major behavioral issues. I thought maybe he would calm down a bit after I got him neutered at 9 months, but no go. This whole experience was so upsetting. I had never had a dog like this that was so difficult. All I wanted was to love my dog, and what I got was regularly bitten and a lot of stress. It got so bad that I called dachshund rescue places to see if they would take him - they said 'no thanks'. And I went so far as to fill out an intake form with the Animal Rescue League in August. I cried myself to sleep that night because I didn't want to give up on this dog, but it was way more stress and expense than I had bargained for. I spoke w/ Sam Ivy back in June and he told me about his behavioral program. I wasn't ready to make the investment at that point, but I liked what he had to say. I told him I wanted to wait until I got Norman neutered before investing in any more training. Fast forward to August - I was on the verge of giving Norman up and Sam texted me. I'll never forget: Sam told me to get rid of the behavior, not the dog. He convinced me to give Norman one more chance. So I made the decision to invest in the Proper Pack Behavior course. I saw all the great reviews for Holli, one of SamIvy's trainers, and requested her. Lucky me - we started training with Holli the next week. Over the last several months, Norman and I have been working with Holli, and I am so so glad I gave SamIvy a chance. Norman (who I refer to as The Whip since he's a Work In Progress) has come a LONG way. Is he an angel 24/7? No. But he's much calmer. He's more trusting of and respectful to me. He's no longer possessive of his food. Our walks are in control. His potty training routine has improved 100%. He doesn't bite me when I put his collars on. I can take him in public and he's been spot trained to sit and behave in a restaurant with me (can you say 'miracle'??). Our relationship is MUCH better and he's begun to understand that I am the pack leader and that I am the decision maker. Now - Holli is gem. She's no joke. She knows her stuff inside and out. Her expertise paired with SamIvy tools equals results. And remember at the end of the day, it is us - the pet owners - that need to be trained to manage our dogs. So this training was an eye opener for both me and Norman. If you are on the fence about making the investment to train your sassy-ass dog, trust me when I say it's worth every penny.
