I signed up with Sam Ivy after my 2.5 year old dog, Teddy started exhibiting aggressive tendencies. He's a small, spoiled yorkie mix, who was extremely protective. Barking , guarding my door, attacking people who came near my room. This wasn't all the time but he was a loose cannon, which gave me serious anxiety. I looked online for dog training and the reviews for Sam Ivy were very impressive. So, I scheduled my intro meeting with Enzo. He was very in tune with my situation. Very detailed. He laid out the course. The goals, the mission. I was scared, excited, and optimistic. I cried. I laughed. I knew I needed this program. I knew Teddy did. I was however worried I wouldn't be able to meet the tasks at hand because it felt like a big commitment. I'd tried dog training in the past. I hated it. I grew bored, tired and didn't follow the program. I didn't click with the instructors. It was always a one size fits all and that's just not realistic. My meeting with Enzo made me know Sam Ivy would be different. Enzo then matched me with my trainer Holli. Enzo is intuitive. He knew the exact fit for me. Holli guided me through the program, setting attainable goals. Speaking in pragmatic terms. Always, always answering my calls and texts. (And there were many!) Providing the best advice, always so genuine. Dog training is not an exact science. No two dogs are the same, nor dog owners. So, sometimes a certain situation wouldn't work and Holli would pause, think. Then tweak it to suit Teddy's (and/or my) needs. I saw a change in Teddy's behavior immediately. It was so rewarding! I always looked forward to my sessions with Holli. It was fun and more importantly, productive. Teddy has made tremendous progress and continues to do so. I was worried that training would strip him of his essence but my boy is thriving! He doesn't bark like a crazy man. He's relaxed. He's more snuggly. He's just a better version of himself. My whole family has noticed. Also, my neighbors, my doorman, the UPS man, and my manicurist. Everyone has noticed! Sam Ivy was a life changing decision. I love this program. I will take these skills and apply them for life. Im sad its over! I might get another dog just so I can sign up again. To say the least, I highly recommend Sam Ivy.

Dexter, our standard poodle, was three months old when we started working with Sam Ivy. When we started, he wouldn't even walk with us on a leash and that was really frustrating. We purchased the full off leash package and were matched to work with Thuylinh. We had our doubts about whether a puppy could really learn all those commands, let alone perform them off leash. We had 25 training sessions. All of them were online (mostly using WhatsApp) and that didn't hold back Dexter's progress at all. Thuylinh taught us how to work with Dexter and he was doing the obedience commands right away, and reliably performing them all off leash way before we ever got to the last session. We're still in awe at his progress. We can walk him around our neighborhood without a leash. We can take him to a public park, and he will stay by our side and follow commands rather than running around and bothering everyone else. More than just the obedience, Thuylinh taught us how to establish boundaries and routines for Dexter around the house, and this has made our lives so much easier. She also helped us teach Dexter how to behave around our young children which was much needed too. We'd have been elated if Dexter just learned all the commands, but Thuylinh took us way past even our highest expectations. She was always available to help! You get what you put in, and we worked with Dexter all the time to get to this level. But it's worth it. Sam Ivy set us up for a lifetime of success with Dexter and we can't recommend them enough.

Where do I begin? This has been an incredible experience from the consultation with Sam to the training sessions with Holli. I rescued my adorable dog Hazel in January of 2024. Hazel was an absolute angel with an insatiable hunger for my furniture. Additionally, Hazel had separation anxiety from me (I couldn't really blame her...I'm pretty fun ). In all seriousness, the training was worth the money. I learned so many things that have been helpful including proper leash handling, learning crate/place and practicing obedience commands. Hazel is now a rockstar on the leash and no longer has separation anxiety from me when I leave the house. I just want to say a few things about Holli. Holli is the best trainer you could ask for. She knows her stuff, has a great personality and is super patient. I loved that she didn't make things overly complicated--I was able to take what she said and practice on my own between sessions. Holli also checked in on me throughout the week to see how training was going and was available to answer any questions I had. You will be so lucky if you are assigned Holli as your trainer-I'm going to miss having sessions with her each week! Thank you Holli and Sam Ivy! One more thing.... Here are some pics of my sweet rescue Hazel.... Please consider adopting a Pittie or Pittie Mix... they will fill your heart with so much

We were recently got a beautiful Great Dane puppy (Indigo) from a great breeder. Although the little pup was gorgeous and would melt your heart, she also was very opinionated, opportunistic and was smart enough to get her way. I went to Sam Ivy because Indigo was nipping and biting my kids and me. Sadly, this behavior deterred us from getting close to her. After looking at a few dog trainers both local and franchise, we got a consultation with Sam Ivy. The Sam Ivy rep (Brett) was very thorough and honest. He set expectations and discussed methods. Although I was skeptical about training via zoom, Brett's honesty gave us what the assurance to give this a try. Next, Emily (our trainer) contacted us. She, not only did she have experience with Danes, ensured all our questions were answered before signing the contract. Emily and the Sam Ivy team were very supportive. Emily was pretty much available 24/7. In addition, if she could not answer a question, she would ask her colleagues. It was very clear that these were animal loving trainers that wanted to enable their clients for success. Although Indigo was a "difficult" case, we managed to graduate from Proper Pack training. The nipping and biting stopped (I am attaching a photo of my two sons with Indigo- now they can hug her which makes me so happy). Although we are uncertain of what Indigo will do tomorrow, we are certain that we have the tools we need to deal with it. Happy Holidays and special thanks to the Sam Ivy Team!!

Not sure where to start, but we had an absolutely incredible experience. Our two dogs are rescues at about 2 years old and we had just recently moved to the St Pete/ Tampa area in June from CO. Our dogs had created a very large weight on our lives and we had delayed getting them trained for so long because we had no idea whether it would really work or not. We had looked at a few programs but once we found sam Ivy online and read some of the testimonies, it seems all too similar to our situation and we could identify with many of the "before" stories and it gave us hope that maybe we would have a chance to have "good dogs" someday.. all too often I received the "Who's walking who" joke all around the neighborhood. They pulled, barked, couldn't sit still. It had gotten worse as they had gotten older and we feared as their aggression started to amp up that they may be a liability to others despite how much we loved them and how sweet they could be with us seperatley. We lost so much furniture due to our jack Russell / boxer mix aggressive chewing and anxiety, and there was so much stress in so many areas of our lives caused by them. We truly were feeling tested every time people came and stayed with us in our house and we felt embarrassed as they acted out. They were jumping all over, humming each other and more and more it felt like we were living in their house.. we had tried seemingly every training tactic we had heard or read about.. insert Sam Ivy.. he came to our house and assured us we could turn things around if we put in the time and effort...we were hooked once we could see the research and evidence and felt that this was truly the right move for our family, we signed up for the Intermediate On Leash training and trainer Miguel --- wow, we LOVE our dogs! Three months later, we feel like we have our lives back and actually love coming home to our pups! The foundation of how the course is created is research based and with a high integetry approach on how to learn how to engage with your dogs..We were able to establish solid respect from our dogs we never had before which enabled us to take their behavior and obedience to an entirely new level. zero destruction anymore, our walks are enjoyable, our dogs are HAPPIER (of course we are too), and we are now getting compliments from strangers on how good our dogs are. They're obedience is impressive and their tricks and spot training are just icing on the cake. Our only regret is we wish we had done this sooner. Thank you very much Miguel & Sam Ivy, you are the best!

I explained to her that there were a few areas that he and I could use some help in, and we got the ball rolling. Brent showed up on the day of pickup and walked me through the process of what to expect during the time he would be training Kona and what kind of updates I would get. I got daily pictures and updates on his status. All I can say is wow, when Kona came back, he was a different dog. Brent spent about 2.5 hours with my family explaining how to integrate the training he used into our lives and how to use the tools he provided us with to make sure Kona succeeds. I think he trains the owners more than the dogs (lol). After we went through his training it was time to put it to use, he had my wife, and I walk Kona, and he gave us tips on how to correct behavior and relax and enjoy the walk. Our dog went through professional behavioral training through another company years ago. He had a solid baseline for learning and commands (sit, heal, place, etc.). Our primary issue was our dog's reactivity. We needed more help on how we as owners could manage this better. We decided to go with Ridgeside K-9 based on their stellar reviews and 4 week behavior modification board and train. Brent picked our dog up and was very thorough on what the plan was. We received a picture/video just about every evening with minimal communication attached. We were trusting their process. During the turn over, everything went well. We did notice our dog had lost a good amount of weight. He was never over weight by any means, but now we can really feel his ribs, spine, and hip bones. Nothing unhealthy though. We also noticed his bark was very different, and we figured it was due to him barking in the kennel during the turn over. Just over a week went by, and our dog's bark was still extremely weak. That coupled with our dog's weight loss had us a little uneasy. When confronting Brent over a phone call out of concern for our dog he became extremely defensive. He heatedly said our dog about drove him insane for 2 weeks due to his barking (which he never thought to mention previously), and then asked if we see a difference in him considering the training. I said not significantly. As mentioned, we've worked our dog for years, and the technique Brent taught us regarding our dog's reactivity is new to us. It had been just over a week and we were still learning to manage and get the results we need. However, before I could elaborate on any of this Brent completely flew off the handle. He was literally YELLING at me over the phone, saying I don't know what I'm talking about, we are the problem, and that I am a person who worries too much. I simply wanted to talk to him out of concern for my dog, and I felt like that meant nothing to him. My husband intervened on the phone due to Brent's disrespect toward me and it only got worse from there. We didn't get a hint of this instability throughout our prior interactions with Brent, and this left both of us completely in shock. Once things cooled down, Brent went back into a mode of wanting to help. Although this was appreciated, the damage was done. Brent has a lot of passion and pride in his work, but his temper concerns us greatly. It was like a switch, and there was ABSOLUTELY no excuse for that level of disrespect towards us.
