Very nice store. Clean, organized nicely, very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful to cater to our needs as customers. They offered assistance with guitars frequently and kept the place tidy. They had a lot in stock with much to choose from. Overall prices aren't too crazy for a store like this. Recently purchased an acoustic guitar from Guitar Center for our amazingly talented granddaughter. First off, the store is immaculately clean and organized. Service is excellent and all employees are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We were assisted by a wonderful gentleman named Paul. After finding the instrument we were looking for , Paul explained everything we needed to know and checked us out very quickly. Overall it was a very positive experience. read more

I had been a Sam ash loyalist for the longest time and usually had bad experiences whenever I went to guitar center, but since Sam ash closed I was stuck and kinda bummed. However, the last couple of times I've gone, I've been impressed. The people who have helped me have been excellent. Before today, the last time I was here it was pretty run down, but today reminded me of the Guitar Center of old and I'm glad!

I visited the store recently with quite an unfortunate interaction with one of the employees. He reported that his name was Phil, but I see other reviews stating problems with this same employee reporting his name as Chud. Regardless, this person is allegedly a manager at the store and the level of service that I received was far from what I expect, especially given the amount of money spent at Guitar Center over the years exceeding $10k. I visited to get some assistance with guitar tuning for a guitar that had a tuning mechanism that was somewhat unique and unfamiliar to me. The employee, "Phil", was not helpful, responded to my questions in a short and dismissive manner, and came across as abrasive throughout the interaction. Rather than assisting me in finding a solution or offering guidance, his attitude made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. As a customer who values knowledgeable and courteous service--especially in a specialized retail environment--I was surprised and disappointed at the lack of professionalism. This interaction negatively impacted my perception of the brand and made me reconsider ever using Guitar Center for any of mine, or my family's music needs in the future. My attempts to reach the store manager, Aaron, as well as a complaint put in to their website have gone without response. These workers have 0 shame . The staff is not the friendly type and they don't gave a damn. It's crazy how there is like only 2 - 3 people on the clock. I had made a call to ask them if my pickup order was ready. After about 20 minutes, I decided to drive up to GC myself. I was on hold for 40 minutes only for them to tell me that "Oh the Ops team isn't here today. Could have saved myself 30 minutes of gas if they answered the phone. In December 2022, I went to buy a $50 mic stand from this Guitar Center. In case I wanted to return it in the future, I asked the employee at the time if I needed a receipt to do so. They told me I didn't, because I was already in the system. So, I left. Later, February 2023, I came back to return the mic stand along with its original packaging without a receipt. I went to the front desk, where they directed me to go to the back room and exchange it there. It was there that I talked with the Inventory Manager - Jesse. When I explained my situation to Jesse, he looked me up in the system and found no record of my purchase. After that, he nonchalantly accused me of "stealing" and effectively brushed me off, telling me to "enjoy my free mic stand". He offered no other solutions and did not try in the slightest to help me, trying to make me seem like I was some kind of criminal. So, I walked away. After that, I went to the front desk to double-check if I was in the system or not. Jesse noticed me in line and basically said "There's no point getting a second opinion. I'm the manager, so I would know. You can try, but it's pointless." Naturally, I ignored his shitty advice and talked to the employees behind the register. Lo and behold, they immediately found my order and gave me a full refund. I've never received such hideous customer service in my life. How can someone like that be in a managerial position, where their first gut-instinct is to accuse me of theft? The fucking AUDACITY. Jesse didn't try to direct me towards the front desk, and actively discouraged any sort of problem solving. It was as if he was trying his best to hinder and gaslight me rather than help in any meaningful way whatsoever. Do not shop here; buy your shit online, or go to a different Guitar Center. read more

I called to see if they had a Martin D28 Martin Deluxe that I saw on their website was in stock. After approximately 15 minutes on hold I was told it was in stock. About an hour later I drove over intending to purchase it if the sound was good. I had to hunt down a rep. They could not find the guitar on the terminal in the acoustic guitar area. When I entered the acoustic room there was a guy adding some guitars to the wall, while I was looking he would just stand there and watch me like I was in his way. I figured he worked there so I asked him for help locating a specific guitar I was looking for and he said "I'll get to it when I can"..... kinda crazy considering there was literally no one else in the store. I waited for like 10 minutes to see if he was gonna help me. Guesss whatttt, nope!! OVERPRICED! Customer service..... What customer service? After walking around for about 20 minutes, no greeting or offer to help. Despite the fact there was two guys at the door. I found the AMP CORD I was looking for (a cheap 3ft cord for $15.97). The least expensive. (BUY ONLINE! Amazon $9.99 for a better quality 10 ft Cord) With only 2 people in line to pay they manage to keep me waiting for over 10 mins. Leave the personal advice and concert stories for the floor. I'm a Texas Country Artist. I have spent more money than you can imagine at guitar Center. I cannot imagine the thousands upon thousands of dollars I've spent in the store on PA, sound boards, wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, TWO Taylor guitars, strings, pics, XLR cables, stands... omg... but I will always be just another customer in this store. The employees are no different from your basic Walmart employee. I realize after spending over $2800 on my 2nd Taylor guitar, that I did not need it. I brought my first Taylor in for a repair, and somehow was convinced from a sales person (because they couldn't fix it in time for my next show) that for as much as I play, I needed a concert series guitar (that today, I honestly don't like at all). I don't play it at all because it is nowhere near the sound production that my original much cheaper Taylor has. Also, while on my way to play an acoustic show at the TEXAS STATE FAIR in Dallas, I stopped by a guitar Center in Round Rock because I needed strings and pics... Then I realized I forgot my wallet at home. I called my manager already in Dallas who called the store and give his credit card over the phone... Even though his credit card has purchased my equipment on my file for tax purposes before they would not let him purchase for me. They knew my situation, looked like they wanted to empathize... They didn't. Just a bunch of kids working in a store. That is what Guitar Center is. Jack black school of rock behind every register. Prices are not any great deal... and good luck finding your strings or pick gauge. Never good Stock. I went buy pics this weekend before playing San Antonio Rodeo; they never have my gauge... Well let me at least buy a couple of XLR cables... no... The price tags were switched around, I couldn't tell what brand was what price... I just walked out. I'll buy my stuff online thank you. I purchased a 4 pack of introductory guitar lessons on 7/31/23. At that time I was not advised that I was signing up for a subscription service, and at no point did I authorize the company to keep my personal/credit card information. The company then summarily charged me for a subscription service on 9/8/23 for $120.00 without my authorization/approval. This is also when I still had unused lessons for which I'd already paid for. When I brought this to the attention of the company customer service manager to try and resolve/refund, I was advised that they would have to escalate the issue to a district manager to perform simple customer service adjustments. As of this writing, they have asked me to outline the issue multiple times verbally/in-writing and there has been no motion on my refund or deletion of my personal/credit card data. I've called daily to try and speak to someone, and no one ever answers and I feel like my service issue is being stalled/avoided to see if I'll just go away. read more

Manager with long hair and glasses was very rude to me and my friends that i had come along with. I was trying to see sold of my equipment and he told me there would be a long wait i said that was fine then he rolled his eyes and said he would help me. he quickly looked at all my equipment , a guitar in great condition, a fender amp, a microphone and a cordoba ukulele. He told me it was all worth nothing and maybe my ukulele would be $20 even tho it was a $100 ukulele in perfect condition still in the case. I wasn't upset about him not buying my items i was upset with the way he was talking to me. He was rushing me and saying my Items were worthless. any questions i had he would shut me down and just say "nope". HE was very unprofessional and rude. I walked in with my Larrivee LV03 and plugged into a Fender Princeton and the salesman tells me I will damage the tubes with my LR Baggs pickup. If the salesman is this misinformed about electronic circuitry, he should not be a salesman. Why is this place still open? They've locked all their guitars to the wall. You'll need a "associate" to unlock one if you can find one and convince them to unlock one. I stayed away from GC due to hearing pretty bad things about the store, but when I saw they had an item I wanted for sale, albeit used, I went ahead and gave them a try. The item itself was delivered from a different store, so there's that. However, it was wrapped so badly, the UPS guy was having a difficult time carrying it, and asked me to open it and check the item before he left. The item physically was okay, but later as I began to use it (it's an electronic item), I found that it had a few classic bugs that these items get. No wonder it was returned, but I'm surprised their quality department did not notice the glaring bugs, as they were a central part of the device's functioning. So, I got a hold of their customer service, who were nice, and said I could bring it to this store. When I finally found the right counter, wow was that rep there... just not a pleasant person. He acted like a combo of a drill sergeant and what I would imagine a pissy parole officer to be. When he was ready for a customer, he would actually point at one, and then point at the floor next to himself, saying, "You. Here." What are we, his wayward children about to be chastised? Other than that, he just grunted and sighed through most of the exchanges. With exception of one lady in the line. He was nice to her. Anyway, yeah, I see why they have a bad rap. 7325 San Pedro, suute 105,San Antonio Texas. Josh sold me a Martin D28 that was used and told me it was new. I didnt find out til 6 months down the road because i was supposed to get 12 months no interest, instead i was notified by credit card company with $500 dollar interest charge (i had it on auto pay). After looking up serial # i found out it was 7 years old. I called guirar center and the manager told me it was too late. He said that I should of known it was used by the "red flag" of 3 thousand dollars. They sell new ones for same price online. He also told me that the salesman was not obligated to tell me it was a used guitar. The guy was being a complete ahole. Ill be filing in small claims court for $3,500 dollars. I told him that when you go to buy a new car they dont sell used ones and say they are new. He redponded that many Mexican often buy used cars and think they are new. I could not believe my ears. Yikes, someone has an attitude problem. And it's every staff member at this Guitar Center. I called ahead to this location to ask if I could sell back some of my guitars, and a very confused employee told me she couldn't help me, that I should just come in and speak to someone in the store. So, I rolled up to this location with four guitars in tow. I'm in the middle of moving to a new house right now and didn't want to take these old guitars to my new place, so I was ready to get them off my hands pretty quickly. They had all been in cases in the back of my closet and not played for quite some time. I ended up talking to an employee who took a glance at one of my Ephiphone SG's and said, "yeah, pass, you should just donate that to a church down the road." So I handed him my next guitar, an Ibanez acoustic/electric, to which he just said, "no, next." The third guitar was a beautiful sunburst fender--the employee plugged it into the amp and played loudly for a minute or so and then handed it back to me saying "yeah, I'm covered in dust now, I don't even need to look at your last guitar. Pass on all of it." A couple of things here, staff of GC. Admittedly, these were not specialized or vintage classic guitars, but there was not a scratch on any of them. They're used guitars. Meaning they've been used. Sometimes things that have been used show signs that they've been used. Regardless, they were all functioning and kept in good condition. And lastly, this kind of rudeness from an employee is largely uncalled for. It's straight up disrespectful to act like you're the ambassador of quality. If this employee would have simply said, "I'm sorry, unfortunately we can't accept these," I would have been on my way, cruising down the highway, and wouldn't have thought twice about it. But this dude was 10/10 condescending and it seriously bothered me enough to stick with me the rest of my day. What's worse is that I looked online at Guitar Center and other comparative websites like Reverb.com, and all four of those guitars were listed used at upwards of $150. I've always been a loyal customer of Guitar Center, but I won't be going back to this location. See you never again, señor superiority. Stopped in G.C. San Antonio on San Pedro, to pick up a connecting cable, after looking through every cable on display, and asking three different employees, I requested that they check the computer inventory. It was in the back and they pulled it for me. ( Thank You). When I went to pay, the speakers at the front desk were blaring out the most foul lyrics I've ever heard. I told the cashier, the music was a little much and I would like to pass on a complaint to the manage. She answered she didn't pick the music. I was in a hurry and headed out door, stopped to have my receipt checked, the song that was playing end with a statement " $&@# you ". The next song started with the same statement "$&@# you". I told the door man the music was just to crass, he said he didn't pick the music. I felt like the employees we're basically telling me the same thing as the music. So I turned around, returned my purchase, and left empty handed. I like shopping at most GC's, please clean this one up so I can shop here too. read more

My nephew needed to rent lights for his party. Brian made the rental transaction as smooth and as comfortable as possible. He was accomodating, professional, and knowledgeable. This branch is huge. While awaiting rental preparation, we perused the demo area for dj's. It was amazing. Being an 'retired' dj, I was fascinated by new, more powerful audio technology but yet more portable. It has started me pondering if I should get back to gigs I did when I was younger coz I still have the passion. Let's see what God wills. I went to this location extremely excited to buy my husband a guitar for his birthday and unfortunately when we arrived the man at the door letting in customers was extremely rude. He used a very condescending tone to ask if we were even going to buy anything. I am unsure if it is because we appeared young but this not appreciated by myself or husband. If you're a stickler for service, I recommend you go to Sam Ash but if you've got your heart set on a particular piece of equipment, chances are Guitar Center will have it. I've been coming to Guitar Center since they opened (actually waited in line on opening day) and it's my husbands Candyland (the way I feel in William Sonoma is the way he feels in Guitar Center). He's bought almost every single piece of equipment he owns at this location. Mainly because he's a bass player and this place is one of the few stores that carries a wide selection of bass guitars both used/new. Their amp selection is the best around along with their pedals, music software and mics. Like others have mentioned, the service is spotty. Sometimes you'll get a teenager who is too cool for school and sometimes you'll get a hardened roadie who knows his stuff. read more

They will help you buy the right strings for the right Guitar. I learn every time I go into the guitar center I just let them know that I'm not the most knowledgeable person in the world but it comes to Guitars. Don't even bother if you're trying to sell anything used. I stood in line with heavy equipment from a drum kit only to have the manager tell me it wasn't all completely assembled so he couldn't buy it. The equipment was in good shape, mostly assembled (some parts I had in the car because as I mentioned it's too heavy to carry all of it in at once) but the first thing out of his mouth was no and then he proceeded to condescendingly tell me what was wrong with everything I had although I told him I had everything for the kit in the car. I picked up three items for a Christmas gift this year and the customer service was just bad. First of all, I had to go to two sections of the store to pickup since I bought a keyboard and two pedals. I couldn't just pick them all up at one counter. That meant I needed to deal with two separate (rude) employees. The keyboard guy took a long call while getting my keyboard situated. I was on my lunch hour and he didn't bother to apologize or place the call on hold until he finished. The pedal guy rudely demanded my ID and when I tried to laugh it off he kept a pissed off look on his face and made it an awkward experience from beginning to end. Products are great but I'll skip an in-store visit next time and either go to another place or pay extra for shipping straight to my home. read more
