I went here with a guitar that was valued minimum of $250 and up and so I asked him how much they were willing to pay. They offered me $73. What a slap in the face how disgusting is that. This isn't the first time they have been like that, and I never left review before, but thought today was appropriate. When my husband was alive, he bought a lot of things from them and they have been nothing but slime I would not recommend them for anything. In fact, I would give them a negative rating if I could. They are such a joke. They say that buy things and this guitar was in excellent condition and he even said so and still had the audacity to offer only that. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS!!! read more

I visited this store today and was surprised to find that it was clean, organized and fairly well stocked, unlike my many previous experiences at various other GC locations. That said, I was in the store for over 45 minutes and was never asked by anyone, if I needed help or if I was wanting to purchase something. I started in the drum department and worked my way through the keyboards and guitars, playing various instruments, and was never approached by anyone. Although I did see several employees that nodded at my presence, not one said a word to me. Although I like the store in general for the selection of instruments, I am worried that they are becoming the go to place to try equipment out, but buy it online at companies like Sweetwater and Musicians Friend. That same trend killed the golf industry retailers. Maybe they should focus on customer service, support and sales to survive. Musicians need a local store to get help and equipment, so I hope they are willing to step up. read more

My son wants to come to this store everyday . If it was up to him he would be here all day lol . He has bought a guitar from here and multiple instruments . Every-time we go, there's always someone willing to help him out with his questions. This store has every instrument you could think of. The store is very clean and organized. Ordered used speaker online that was listed incorrectly. Phone rep was great told me how to return it to this store. Most the staff I deal with here have been good but this guy was a condescending a$$. I would ask a question about the refund and he would just shit me down saying I don't need to know that. WTH? Every question I had he would try and shut me down. Then after completing the process of returning the speaker no receipt, no email just the refund will show up eventually. I asked to take a pic of the screen and he literally huffed and puffed. I had to call customer service in the parking to confirm it was returned and they sent me an email reflecting the same. I could hear other staff around me giving good customer service and I'm asking myself how did I get so lucky to get this guy. I went in today to trade-in some gear: 3 guitars that needed new homes. I was a little apprehensive at first because this was going to my first experience on a trade-in at Guitar Center. After driving an hour, I was greeted with a smile by Chris, who's previously delivered excellent customer service on my previous visit. He provided me with a quote which I believed was fair and completed my transaction to 100 percent satisfaction. This place was busy with customers but I didn't feel rushed and it was obvious that other associates were as attentive as mine. 10/10 read more

We ordered a used Marshall amp from Guitar Center, shipped to this Roseville location. We drove about 45 mins each way to go pick it up. When we got home none of the cords were in the box. I called the store and Manny, the manager got us the cords in less than 24 hrs. He went out of his way to make our order complete. Great customer service. Thanks Manny!! read more

I ordered an electronic drum set on December 24 after being told it was in stock at the Roseville store. After payment was taken, Guitar Center emailed me saying the item was not actually in stock. When I tried to cancel, customer service (Bert) and a manager (Tyler) both told me they refuse to issue a refund, saying "that's just how Guitar Center works," even though the item won't arrive until January 5 and is being shipped to the store, not to me. They also confirmed another local store had the item, but said they "don't work that way" and wouldn't help. Selling items as in stock when they are not, then holding customers' money hostage, is unacceptable. I'm posting this so other customers are aware before ordering. read more

Traded in a massive amount of gear (6 guitars, like 20+ pedals and an amp). I've traded gear to guitar center before. I know you're gunna get wildly low value but I just can't help but appreciate the convenience of not having to wait months for things to sell, ship, etc. in all my past experiences with GC, it's pretty obvious they don't love the buy in process. No one is ever down right rude, but they usually aren't chipper when they see you're selling something. This was my first time at the Roseville location and what a vast difference it was to every other location I've ever been to. Ben helped me, and he was the friendliest associate I've ever encountered. Easy to work with, made great conversation while keeping the process moving, and never seemed like it was a bother to him (I know it was a ton of work!). The other employees in this store seemed great as well. Everyone was friendly, helped each other out to keep things flowing for other customers, etc. it's also a very organized store. This is definitely my new main GC. It's a bit further away than the Sacramento one for me, but the customer service was top notch. Highly recommend! read more

Since moving here, this has been my store to grab all of my musical instruments. This past time, I was helped by a worker named Manny. He helped me to purchase a brand new guitar, acoustic amp, and a few other things that we were gathering for a friend. Manny was helpful and knowledgeable about everything that we asked him about on top of taking care of three customers at one time. I imagine a lot of people give this store bad reviews for several reasons but none of them applied to my visit. Every time I've come to the store, I've always been treated well and given exactly what it was that I was looking for. UPDATE: They also messed up my order somehow and gave me the wrong amount of guitar strings too. Im going to have to call the support line for assistance. David/ Dave and Ben are incredibly knowledgeable and made the purchasing experience very easy.

First a positive note... since new management took over, the store is organized and no longer a mess. That is as positive as I can get with everything else. Don't just walk up to the associate who works at the workbench on guitars. He only has short answers to questions and no eye contact. I realize he is busy and needs to concentrate on the task at hand, but retail is a customer service business. This is not a one time issue. Recently I asked him if he could answer a question and he said "yes". But he didn't stop what he was doing and his answer was stock and unhelpful. He seemed annoyed. I get his annoyance though. May I suggest to the manager that he be setup somewhere in the back instead of on the floor? This is so he can work on projects without interruption. He is a guitar technician not a salesman. There is hardly any gear hung up behind him anymore for him to sell anyway. I would not use his services because of the current setup. That's all I have. read more

So my grandson has a smaller electric guitar that he hasn't used for a while. I don't play guitar but I was having trouble tuning it. I went to GS and purchased an electric tuner so I could tune it up. After I tried tuning it, it just didn't sound right. So I thought I would take it in to GS and have one of the employes possibly tune the first two cords to at least get it started. I ran into an employee named Ben and asked him about it. Even though there were numerous employees working he told me his guitar guy was on break. You would think that anybody working at a store named The Guitar Center could grab a guitar and tune a couple of chords but I guess not. Then he told me to watch YouTube which I had already tried. Then to top it off he said something about having me drop it off and that it might need to be realigned or something like that. We're talked about a small kids electric guitar that's probably worth 50 bucks. Bottom line is I was very disappointed in the customer service I was provided. It would have taken anybody with any knowledge of guitars about 60 seconds to help me out but Ben wasn't interested. Very sad read more

The only person I could speak with for any help was a very nice guy from the warehouse area. He had obviously could not help with pricing or availability. When I asked another employee who was working on a guitar how to get help he seemed annoyed and told me I'd have to talk with a sales person. That ended the interaction! We have very little choice in where to purchase instruments and supplies in the Sacramento area any longer. All the small businesses are gone, with the exception of Skips, and Kline. So we are stuck with a corporation, and not a small business owner. As far a selection goes, GC does all right. Skips (on auburn) used to beat GC hands down, but Skip passed (rip) and the resurrected location is bare bones. So, GC it is. Fair selection at market prices. There will be no negotiation on prices. They've added a repair center, which is a plus. Sheet music, instruction manuals? Tough luck. They have one small display with only a couple choices per instrument/per skill level. I'm not even sure they deserve the three stars I'm giving them, but I have no choice... they are what they are. A generic corporate slick marketing schill. read more

I hate to leave a bad review because I do love bringing my daughter to this store. However, after my last experience I have to. I took my daughter's bass in for strings and setup (it was buzzy). The friendly guy behind the counter couldn't really answer my questions but said the tech would call me before starting the work. He even added a note on the work order to call me. Well, I got a voicemail saying the work was completed. When I went in to pick up the bass the same friendly guy behind the counter asked the tech to talk with me. The tech was dismissive when I said that I had wanted to talk with him before he started any work and that I probably would have changed my order based on the discussion. His parting comment was a snide "Im sorry you feel that way!" If I had had a chance to talk with him I would have canceled that work order and instead would have given them a new bass to setup. And when I got home my daughter tested the bass - it's much worse than before and some of the screws are so tight that it damaged the body. But honestly, what upsets me way more than anything is the disrespectful dismissive attitude. Is so unfortunate because it's avoidable and unnecessary. GC could/should be a place with a cool vibe where musicians and aspiring musicians want to hang out and chat/connect with staff and other customers. I have nothing but good wishes for GC - hope you can do better. read more

I've had several great experiences with the Roseville Guitar Center; though I live closer to Sacramento, I make a longer trip for a reason. The staff are super friendly and not at all condescending to a beginner like me - they're very knowledgeable, won't ridiculously upsell and are willing to work with you. Lucas was helpful in helping me settle on a guitar that was a bit out of budget, and offered a few ideas to help. Gibson and Manny were very friendly and made conversation while I checked in and out a guitar that needed saving from my horrible pickup swap attempt. And despite being the only tech on site, Jon was on the ball and got the repair done in great time; and was patient with me while I tried to convey what I wanted in the pickup repair. If I had to give some critique, it would be that there can be a bit of a wait inside. Not a whole lot of staff at a time, plus phones and some customers that want a lot of assistance can make waiting for checkout take a while. Though my trips were usually at busy times, so this may not even be the case for you. All in all a great store; the prices are decent, there are always power cords and cables to test guitars and amps, and the staff are friendly and willing to help! read more

Customer service is horrible, came in with my family looking for some new gear. Store was empty couldn't find anyone to help. Husband walked up to the counter where two employees were busy just talking to each other. At one point he finally asked pen of the employees who stated someone would eventually make their way to us. There was already two families waiting and no employee to be found on the floor. If you have three families waiting and two people at the front you would think someone would find time to help. Every time I visit here I feel like I am intruding and an inconvenience to the staff, and I very rarely even need to ask a question. Every single time I go in the staff seems annoyed at any customers presence, whether they are simply needing to check out, or (god-forbid) they need assistance. The only reason I go is when my son (who plays guitar) gets gift cards for his birthday, and every time I am reminded that for some reason they don't actually want anyone shopping there. read more

He actually thanked me for leaving a review with my honest opinion so that he has the opportunity to fix it. As a long term customer that buys a lot of stuff from Guitar Center in store and online, I was able to communicate all the issues, new and old that I have experienced. He assured that he is training his employees on how to provide top notch professional customer service. He is making sure that they know All Customers are Important. Jeff made a me Great discount offer to turn the bad experience into a Great experience. He never asked me to change or remove the negative review. This is my idea to remove the negative and replace with a positive because I know he is retraining his employees so that every customer has a Great Experience at this store. Service is nice enough, but we were left to wait for a looong time. Had to change our evening plans because of it. We came here because a mic stand that we had ordered online came to us crumpled and obviously not usable. Then we wanted to exchange it but they didn't have the exact same one so we had to return it and then was offered a more expensive one (nice selling tactic guitar center...) lol. I really thought that they would have exchanged it for free since if we definitely not our fault and that's how I would think to keep customers coming back. Especially if your customers are spending hundreds of dollars for expensive equipment. It doesn't exactly instill confidence. I think next time we'll look elsewhere. (Also covid regulations were ok. They had rules but it was pretty much not regulated as people were just going around and doing whatever they wanted such as playing all the keyboards and guitars without sanitizing them after) read more

So I'm sadly disappointed in their customer service and let me explain; I purchased two guitars back in June at this particular store for my daughter. One we were able to walk out the store with, the other was a special order item. After following up 3-4x throughout this waiting period, I was told it would arrive by Black Friday. So, it's 11/28 and I called so I could pick up the guitar. It's 5pm on the west coast and PRS' warehouse is in Maryland. Guitar center calls me to let me know that they spoke with someone at PRS (ummmm.... No, they didn't because they're closed) and my order is now pushed back until April. Sounds to me that they got the guitar in, sold it on a Black Friday special and now have to order another guitar and it won't be here until April. The fact that they lied to me about speaking with someone at PRS just burned me. So... they can credit back my account and I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I visited Guitar Center on a Sunday afternoon just to do a price check of some items. The store was busy, but I wasn't there long before Alyssa assisted me. She took me around the keyboards, explained differences in brands, and models and answered all of my many questions. All the while she maintained a professional and friendly demeanor. Plus, this gal can really multi-task. We were interrupted a couple times by a customer and one of her fellow workers. Amazingly, Alyssa was able to answer the customer's and her coworker's questions, while still working on my quote. I didn't come to buy that day, but because of her awesome service I did. The minute I walked in the door with a warranty guitar cord I was told to quit stepping on it. Then we bought two guitars and were told to bring them back to get tuned up because they've been abused on the floor and the next thing I know they want $100 each. They weren't even polite about it. They didn't come with the bars so when I asked for them, they wanted to charge me. And he kept they kept repeating themselves over and over. This place is run by a bunch of brats who don't know nothing about music or musicians. Then when I came back to have my Jackson tuned up to the tuning I like. The tech there starts to give attitude because I mentioned that real musicians come from the bay area where I am from. Therefore, he said I insulted him and that I told him he wasn't a real musician. This is the kind of attitude that goes on inside a Roseville Guitar Center. Do yourself a favor and drive down to Sacramento's guitar center where you'll get a little bit better attention and quality service and I definitely can recommend this because I've shopped with Guitar center for over 25 years Doesn't everybody get tired with the management coming back and giving you their stock answer yet nothing gets done you have had that group of brats there for years. I've been a Guitar Center customer for decades. The people who work there are really nice and helpful to deal with, and the jam night was great. This review is not about that, it's about the hostility coming from their Corporate office. If like me Guitar Center got your email address after a purchase your probably dealing with a staggering amount of SPAM EMAILS. I've tried to unsubscribe in the normal fashion, but they didn't stop. When the link to unsubscribe disappeared I started calling customer support to stop the spam mail. I ended up getting what sounded like a call center, and was told it takes a week for their marketing emails to stop. For weeks I went through this process of waiting on hold, being told the exact same thing, waiting a week, where the spam email keeps coming. Then I started asking for a supervisor, but no supervisor was ever available. I had also noticed when I checked out 1 of the spam emails that a marketing claim seemed strange. The ad is in the picture below. The claim was that ALL THINGS ELECTRIC are up to %20 off. So I went to the Guitar Center website and couldn't at first find the sale. After a lot of searching I found a few items that had the discount. This is fraudulent and dishonest practices. Years back there was a big issues of Guitar Center taking advantage of their employees regarding how and what they were paid. I was forced to make a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Unfortunately after I made the complaint I was told on the FTC website that they cannot stop the harassing spam emails. Nor can the FCC. So, this is a friendly heads up, if you don't want to be harassed by Guitar Center were corporate Guitar Center basically tells your tough luck, we can do anything we want. NEVER EVER GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, OR BELIEVE THEIR MARKETING CLAIMS UNTIL THROUGHLY INVESTIGATING THE FINE PRINT OF THAT CLAIM. read more
