This is a pretty standard guitar center: Highs - selection of electric guitars and amps you can play around with. Assorted gear, most at reasonable prices. Good selection of used acoustic guitars. Cons - Layout is a bit hectic. Some of the guitars stocked are really low quality and overpriced. Acoustic guitars are in a large sound proof room, making it awkward to have more than one person trying out guitars at a time - and there is always someone in there practicing. Staff is hit or miss - some are great, knowledgeable and helpful, others not as much so - but that's chain retail for you. Generally: I'd rather shop at an independent guitar shop, but they are getting harder to find, so when in the area and I need a few things, I will stop in without complaint. read more

Horrible customer service. Walked in looking for a specific mic and asked the guy working there. He responded rudely "it's right there man". It was locked and I asked him to unlock it so I can purchase one and he walked away making me think he was getting a key. I waited for 5-10 minutes and he never came back. I asked another person who was polite. When I went to pay, the same guy who was rude to me earlier was at the register. He was on his phone on Facebook live and speaking aloud, (I thought he was speaking to me) but when I tried asking him if he was speaking to me, he pointed at his phone in his ear mouthing to me that he was "on the phone" in the middle of my transaction. This was so unprofessional, rude, and such a trashy way to present yourself. If he doesn't want to work there then just quit. He's making your company look horrible. We are local musicians. We will be spreading the word about this experience if not addressed. This was between the hours of 7-7:40pm April 27th. I purchased an SM57 mic. read more

Excellent customer service!! We ordered our son a beginner Dreadnought acoustic guitar for his lessons. Unfortunately, he dropped it at the lesson last week and the neck snapped in half. Thankfully, we purchased the protection warranty (I highly advise everyone to buy warranties on any product) and we put in a claim. The process was super easy and quick until they asked me to provide proof of disposable. So I explained charity isn't going to take a broken guitar and we did not have a recycle center near us that would accept the guitar. I was told take it to the store have them call the warranty company and we will go from there. We did that and Julian at the Laurel location was so helpful, so patient, and resolved the matter right away for us!!! Julian certainly proved that great customer service still exists and we plan to purchase a new guitar with them again!!!!! read more

I have a $300 paperweight because I did not purchase extended warranty for a fender guitar. I have 2 acoustic guitars. One was given to me used over 43 years ago. The second one is over 27 years old. I also have a steinway 55 years old and a traditional drum set as well as an electronic set all in the same room and all play beautifully. Last July I purchased a Fender acoustic with electric pickup.About 5 months later it would no longer stay in tune. I then noticed that the front face had developed severe cracks that have since made it unplayable. A completely inferior instrument. I brought it back to guitar center explaining that I was quite dismayed. People in line behind me all agreed about inferior workmanship. I was told point blank that since I did not purchase the extended warranty they would not stand behind their instrument and I should reach out to Fender. Considering the age of my other instruments I truly didn't think it was necessary. How wrong I was. Once told that they wouldn't do anything, The sales rep asked if I would like to look at other guitars. I smiled and said no thank you. What audacity! Over the last few years I have spent a great deal of money at the Laurel location with plans to spend a lot more. I swear I will never enter any guitar center again and will share this with anyone I speak with. As an Executive Chef, I am ALWAYS aware of what I purchase and cannot believe for one second that your purchaser didn't know what they were buying to sell at an outrageous profit. I just want to say I'm extremely grateful to the staff at this store! I want to recognize the store manager Adam and one of the associates' Sheldon. I've been up there twice with trade-ins and once with a return and they get me in and out of there in good time. I appreciate Adam particularly because he gives me good service, he looks out for good deals for me, fairly prices my trade-ins and he treats me like family. let me tell u guys about this guitar center.. 1st off I live 20 min away, I bought a rev7 from here, unfortunately there was an issue with the platters.. I called and spoke to Janee who was more than helpful with me. she inturn asked her manager Jordan for help. when I tell u that This guy Jordan went above and beyond to help me fix this issue, I couldn't believe it, his help was beyond acceptional. He tried at least 10 different times speaking to pioneer and they gave him crap the first 3 times but he escalated it and they were able to do a trade. I would not get this type of service from no other stores or no other guitar center. I appreciate it sooooooo much and yes because of their service and the passion they put into helping me I suggest this guitar center to anyone looking for equipment and great service to back it up. I didn't see wild teenagers like the other review, but I did come in on a Tuesday in the middle of the day. Basically this is medium range music store. Better than Music and Arts off of 29, but not as complete as the guitar center or Chuck Levins in rockville, or Bills Music in Baltimore. I have been here twice in the past three weeks and both times I left because I was completely overwhelmed by the teenagers in the store running wild and trying to destroy everyone's eardrums. It really is insane. Not sure what Guitar Center policies are but they need to get it under control. These are clearly not actual customers. They are just there to make noise and outdo each other. How to lose a sale and customer by Guitar Center of Laurel, MD. 1) Friend contacts potential customer and advises him the store has a drum set he has been looking for. 2) Potential customer contacts store by phone to confirm they still have the drum set. Associate one advises they do and to ask for her or a manager when potential customer comes in. 3) Now customer travels 45 minutes to store with cash in hand to buy said drum set. 4) Customer advises associate two he has some used gear he would like to consider for trade-in and is interested in a drum set. 5) Associate two disappears and is not seen again. 6) After about a 20-minute wait, associate three asks customer if help is needed. Customer repeats # 4 above. Customer asks for associate one (who is off today) or to speak with a manager. 7) Associate three hands customer off to associate four. 8) Customer brings used gear in. Associate four looks at gear and starts looking at computer. 9) Associate three goes into enclosed cymbal room and texts on phone. 10) Associate three comes back out and advises manager says they will not take individual drums but only drum sets on trade. OK, no issue there. 11) Customer takes drums back to car while associate four waits on other customers. 12) Associate four continues to look at remaining used gear (cymbals) for trade in and then advises he is not interested in trading with no explanation as to why. Associate four begins to wait on another customer. 13) Surprised, customer waits on associate four to finish with other customer in order to ask why no interest in the cymbals. Associate four advises they are worn.... Cymbals have no keyholing or cracks but do need polishing (it has rained for days here). 14) There is no additional conversation offered about the drum set the customer originally went to purchase and had advised three associates of at this point. 15) Former customer leaves store with cash in hand meant for drum set purchase and leaves without said drum set. 16) Former customer contacts local reputable DRUM STORE to search for similar drum set as to the one located at the Laurel, MD Guitar Center for former customer to purchase. 17) Former customer had shopped at Guitar Centers since 2007. read more

Guitar Center recently opened a new store in Laurel Town Center. Perfect timing, perfect location! I'm getting back into playing, but had no desire to drive all the way to Glen Burnie to have my old guitar set up. The new store here is in a convenient location, clean, orderly, with a friendly helpful staff. Their technician Alex did a fantastic job on my old cheap guitar, which is now a real pleasure to play.
