Their teachers go out of their way to help students that aren't even their own! Incredible atmosphere here. As a business owner myself, what I can tell you is that if you miss the days in which the business owners will try everything in their power to help you, and for them to actually care about you, the customer - this is the place for you. What you will ultimately get out of doing business with them will be the best you can hope to get anywhere nearby. The one negative review I see here - the writer strikes me as an impossible to please and/or passive/aggressive kind of person - my gut tells me he's crafted an intentionally exaggerated one-sided story because he was unhappy when he found out that his piano was not worth as much as he was hoping. Phil is in fact very polite, professional and upfront, so something doesn't add up in this story. When you come here and actually meet with Nancy and Phil, you'll understand. Other competitors in the area are also run by good folks, but Nancy and Phil are outstanding and are head and shoulders above. Check their Google Maps reviews and you'll see more praise for them. Highly recommended.

This store is to me as those used book stores are to book junkies. The staff are great. So helpful and knowledgeable but without the pretentious bs that can come with a store that's so important and niche. Quick story: I go there just to look at drums, as I've. It played in almost a decade and planned on looking for a drum-set into the summer. I was in no rush.I went to several music stores in the state and was unimpressed enough to keep looking. Within 30 minutes of looking at drums at BDC a used kit would call my name for the next 7 days. I'm so happy with my purchase and never would have found this gem without BDC. Looking forward to buying many more toys ASAP.

That all being said, I make sure to rush to Bill's when I need stuff because the alternative is going home and then going to...well, another store with an instrument in the name, and that has never been a good experience unlike Bill's. A few years ago I made an online purchase for a used pedal from Bill's. I showed up to get it and as it turns out, they had no idea where it was. They had spend an hour looking for it after I purchased it, and then they spend another 20 minutes looking for it after I arrived. To make it up to me they offered me a brand new version of the pedal at the mid point of the difference between the used one and the new one. I took that offer because it was a great deal. Since then I have bought 3 more pedals from them over the years, a microphone, and a whole lot of accessories. If I want to purchase another guitar at any point, I will definitely hit them up if possible.

The clear implication was that I was attempting to steal this little item. This young man clearly needs more education in reading people. I was pretty insulted and I will never have a need to return to Bills Music in Catonsville Md. There are numerous other places to purchase their product line without the rude, passive-aggressive treatment.

I tried to resolve the issue with scheduling but she kept on going on and on about the phone conversation we had earlier, FOLLOWING me around the store yapping. It was amazing to see all these customers though because I will be honest; it is little hidden inside this little corner. While I have a beautiful restored Yamaha grand piano that is everything I want at the moment, the piano bench that I have is terrible. The cushion sinks down after a couple hours and you literally have back pain after your practice session. After several lessons, I finally ask him where he bought this magical piano bench and it turns out it's this local piano store in Maryland called Piano Craft. After several months of painful practice sessions, I finally decide to call Piano Craft and inquire about a new piano bench. I called and left my number and information with the secretary and waited. And waited. A week later, I finally decided to call back and talk to the secretary again. This time, later that same day, a salesperson called me and asked me about the bench. She was actually very helpful and texted me pictures showing me the types of piano benches they had and we finally found my teacher's magic bench! She said that she would get pricing and other info to me later. Apparently "later" means never at Piano Craft so a month later, as a treat to myself, I end up ordering the finest piano bench money can buy from another store. My new Jansen piano bench never sinks down and can take all my practicing! I'm shocked that this place actually has good reviews. If you're a working musician, piano teacher, or busy person that has time deadlines, I cannot recommend them. I'm a person who likes testing out new places with a smaller purchase if I can. If this is they way they handle a simple piano bench request, I can't imagine purchasing a grand piano from them. I've been told they have a nice selection of pianos. I'm sure that's probably true, but this pianist will take her business elsewhere.
