Had a great shopping experience here around the holidays. Went to get a guitar and kit for my daughter. Store was very organized and everything was easy to find. Huge selection of guitars and other music items such as drums, guitar accessories, speakers and so many other items including those that allow you to personalize your instruments. Located in a shopping center just off of I695 this was easy to find and parking was a breeze. Employees were attentive as at least 2 people asked if they could help me while I browsed the store shelves. When I had questions, I had no problem getting them answered by team members there. I got exactly what I needed and had a fantastic experience. The location also offers lessons which I took advantage of and signed up my daughter so she can continue to build her skills. read more

Staff is kind, but I will say that they seem to avoid attending to customers unless bothered to do so. I also purchased a small used amp and asked them to order a foot switch for it. A week later, the foot switch arrives so I took it home only to find that it's not compatible with my amp. It has all been resolved at this point and was only a minor inconvenience. All in all the store is a pretty nice place to shop, but could use some more training for the employees. read more

Bought a Gibson Les Paul and didn't have the tool it comes with. (Pretty much all Gibson guitars cone with this tool). Didn't think about it at the time. A friend also bought a Gibson not long after and it didn't have the tool either. Pretty sure they take them out of the guitar cases and do god knows what with them. The staff here is always super rude, and not helpful in the least. I called in about an item I saw was in stock online, and they said it was. I got there, and not only was it the wrong item, but I stood in the line (by line I mean I stood next to the counter by myself) as they helped everyone else but me for like 15 minutes, and then only helped me as they were still helping anyone who would walk up and interrupt. I ordered and paid for my order using PayPal 6 hrs. ago I called twice, and they told me it's a fraud protection thing. Have never had a problem with getting anything like this. The young man who answered the phone was very disrespectful asking me "Oh you want to argue with me? What kind of customer service is that. Their website listed a guitar as "in stock". When I arrived the guitar wasn't on the floor to play or see. Employees don't walk the floor looking to help customers, I had to seek them. I found three hanging out in the office and when they saw me in the doorway they didn't even say "hi, may I help you?" They just looked at me until I said "can you help me please?" One employee then found the guitar in their stockroom still boxed and brought it out. He stood there saying nothing. I said " are you going to unbox it?". He said "are you 100% going to buy it? My manager said that if I open it and you don't buy it then we have to list it as open box." I said "I'm not buying any guitar sight unseen" and walked out. I went home, jumped on the Sweetwater website, saw multiple angle pictures from three different serial numbered guitars, selected one, bought it. Here are some tips Guitar Center. 1). I spent $3000 in this store in the last month or so on guitars and effect pedals, effect processors etc... I visited this store at 2:30 today to get some help with missing samples in my pro tools first software. The young Technician seemed very knowledgeable and asked I bring my laptop to the store so he or someone else could assist in getting them back installed. So I drove home to get laptop and returned the to the store to get what I thought would be 5 minutes of help.( Driving time 1 hour) The shift change of personnel was done and I had my laptop and asked the same question for help. This new sales person (kid) told me They would not help me with my issue and told me the 1st guy does not know company policy. I cannot understand how one hour of difference brings two completely different customer service attitudes. Decided to come here and purchase some gear. It was late evening. Was greeted and helped right away. Guy was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The only caveats were; he did not wear a face mask, he kept touching his face, mouth, nose etc then touching the brand new equipment. Pretty gross, especially during these times. We ended up buying quite a bit and got some really good deals. The guy went out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted and needed. Should be five stars but lack of consideration. read more

I honestly do not understand why the rating of this store is so low. It mostly seems like petty people, upset because their own negative behaviors are called out, or they want to blame the store for online issues. :/ A lot of them are also super old. The store can be short-staffed, but that is a company wide problem due to COVID, I assume. Please find a better way to approach your customers if you have a concern regarding equipment use. Today I went to guitar center to get a little drum practice in. When I got to counter to rent the practice room, the employee told me that I broke the kick drum head from the last time I was there. I asked him "Are you sure it was me?" He said yes. He was told that an instructor noticed that the drum head was "beyond repair" and I that I was the last one in that room. I don't know if I broke the head or not, I can't prove that either way. Here's the issue... Fact: My last visit to guitar center was over a month ago. The second week of November. Fact: I received no notice that I had damaged anything. Guitar center has my contact information in their system. Fact: The kick drum was busted TODAY. I asked the employee when the heads were last changed. He didn't know. That tells me that there's no record of when heads are changed or any maintenance thats done on the instruments. Fact: In my 10+ years of playing drums, I have never busted through a head. I don't play that hard. There are more facts, but you get the picture lol. The point is that it's not my responsibility to check and see if the heads are close to being busted. I spoke with the manager, and he said that he often tells his staff that the drums are looking kinda busted, and that they need to be better taken care of. read more

Guitar Center norms: - no employees at the cash register - no employees on the storeroom floor - employees who have no idea what they are talking about - employee at the exit looking for stolen items in your bag like you're freshly paroled Frankly, the customer service at Guitar Centers are generally horrible. I would say this place is slightly worse than average. I don't necessarily blame the employees. Maybe corporate doesn't realize it takes more than 5 people to work at the only music store in town. Or maybe they pay them like crap. It's worse for musicians who actual play enough to need regular upkeep and maintenance for their instruments. You have to come into the store to get a pack of strings, or a few picks, etc. But it takes forever. And you have to do this every month or so. read more

I made several small purchases at this location but when I needed assistance FORGET IT. I had an issue with an employee telling me he wasn't on the clock yet so he wouldn't help me and also found a manager that was a down right A*S. I've had nothing but good experiences here. I got both of my guitars action lowered right on the spot, I mean hows that for customer service? I sent my guitar away through another store chain for fret buzzing and it came back the same way. Grr.. Someone commented that Guitar Center is becoming like the Wal Mart of guitars.. so what, I bought in my Musicians Friends catalog (or was it Sweetwater?) And they price matched my guitar. The employees are usually rude, sarcastic, condescending, and not to thrilled to help you, sometimes they will go get someone else to help you, but that person never shows up. The manager is even worse, he's an older white man with white hair, never ask this guy for anything, in the past 10+ years I've been going here (teens through mid 20s), every time I've had to interact with him, it was a negative experience, you would think being the manager he would be kind and respect the customers, but hes impatient and acts like there's always something better he could be doing. I was about 15 the first time I bought a guitar, and he was helping me decide on one, midway through a question I was asking, he interrupts me and asks "do you want this guitar or not?". I have frequented this store many times over the years and after the last year of bad visits I knew it was time to write a review. The employees here have no problem treating you horribly. I was not only spoken to as if I had no clue what I was talking about by some guy in a band that's probably going places, I was only given $30 for an amp that they said they could only get $40 for. I actually saw the same amp for sale and when I pointed it out, they said that the price had just dropped to $40 on it (even though the tag didn't say this). I just want everyone to know that you should do your research before going in there and your best bet for a true opinion is to go to an independent music store. They are around. Google them. This location was recently a tremendous help to me when I brought in my Casio Privia keyboard. I had many customer service reps and the manager helping me. They were very helpful with getting the right power adapter for a keyboard that is over 15 years old. They were very friendly and had great product knowledge and the store is stocked with a good amount of product. I look forward to visiting again. Awesome service! Complete morons work here. I arrived at 6:30 and knew exactly what I wanted. I had to grab the products myself and constantly remind them that I wanted this mixer that was in back. 8:00 PM rolls around and 2 employees are trying to figure out how to bring up my credit and use a coupon. They erased the whole sale and it took them another 20 minutes to ring it all back up. I really cant believe this place would get repeat business. This is not an isolated incident either. Guitars are stacked on crowded short racks, and everything is covered in construction dust. No way am I paying full price for such poorly cared for instruments. As a kid, I was a big fan of helicopters, so, naturally, when I heard a guitar store was opening in town, I had to check it out. The wine selection is less than desirable and the wait is usually 30 minutes to an hour, but you can usually find the right spaceship to fly home in.
