Absolutely the worst customer service in ANY store I have been to. Don't waste your time with this place, its not worth the gas spent to make the drive there. The employees are rude if they even take the time to notice there is a customer in the store. Not sure how this place even stays in business. Purchased a used Roland RD 2000 digital stage piano in "Excellent" condition online from this store on 3/16/25 for $1,999, plus $179 warranty. The listing picture showed the keyboard sitting inside a wheeled Gator case. I called CS to see if case was included and they said they'd call me back and let me know. Never did call. After waiting over a week without notification of shipment, I called CS twice who transferred me to Dayton store to see what the hold up was. They indicated that they were down on manpower in fulfillment and would ship it ASAP. Finally received keyboard on 3/28 (12 days after purchase) only to find that it did indeed come with the roller case (after I'd already ordered a custom made case for it) AND a setting knob was missing and knob-stem was snapped--far from "excellent" condition. There was no evidence showing that the damage happened during shipment, so it was apparently in this state prior to packing. I then had to load the monstrous piece of equipment into my vehicle and return it to my local GC in Southfield, Michigan. I ended up receiving a full refund to my gear card, but what a disappointment. Now I have to search for another one. What a bummer. I must add that Ben from Southfield store was great and made the return process flawless. This review is directed to the Dayton store exclusively. read more

Do not sell them anything, they owe every company money and if you call about a piece of used gear you will be on hold for ever, Sweetwater is usually 50 dollars cheaper. So...I'm really that dude that hates to complain, but sometimes you've got to call people out. I've been a traveling musician all my life, and I've bought a lot of gear and software from various GC across the nation. Now that I'm an older man who is legally blind and has time on my hands, I buy a lot of gear just for the pleasure and to pass the time. This is the third time I went into GC with hardcore cash and lots of open credit to purchase what catches my eye (no kidding, money to spend)even at my wife's chagrin, who is very tolerant and patient at my obsession and noise making. It's bad enough going in there and not being able to see, but I ess not getting any assistance whatsoever. While we stand there waiting, the employees engage in the most mundane and stupid conversations someone could have without the slightest "Can I help you find something "? This has happened 3 times in a row without fail. My relationship with GC is officially over, even if I hear that a bargain is good. The Dayton Miamisburg-Centerville Rd location is beyond terrible, and what's worse is that there's never no more than 2 to 3 customers in there (a dead location). ‍ Looks like I'm going to stick with Sweetwater, Musician Friends, and Zsounds. Bought a Fender Bassman 100T sight unseen from Cory at this location. Not only was he one of the most helpful phone reps I've ever dealt with in all my years of buying over the phone & net, but he went the extra mile for me to ensure that this amazing all tube amp was packed meticulously and with the ultimate care. It makes you feel valued as a consumer when a company goes above and beyond what is necessary in order to ensure that the hard-earned money you spend with them is appreciated. Each tube was removed and packed separately, then labeled, bubble wrapped and packed with care. Shipping was fast and the service was excellent. The amp arrived quickly and once tubes were installed, she sounded lush and thick. This amp has an auto-bias feature, which will pick up and notify you via LED if there's anything fishy going on with the tubes or circuit. Everything checked out perfectly and sounds amazing, can't wait to record and play out with it. Props to management at this location for keeping us buying from Guitar Center vs strictly online retailers or Amazon. On Thursday evening (Feb 11 2021) I met with Justin (the Guitar Repair Technician) at the Dayton OH store. I had the best customer experience ever! He really did me a solid and helped me restore my classical guitar which had some surface damage. He took really good care of it and went above and beyond to help me out when it looked unfixable. do not buy anything online from this company of shady business practices. i odered an item that was mislabeled and was not what i needed. i called customer service within an hour of ordering. i was told the operations manager was not there to process the refund but will the next day....the next day they shipped the item i did not want. i have been dealing with their customer service department for two weeks and they still cant process the return. two weeks! i recommend recording your dealings with them as i have so you can have a paper trail to give to your states department of consumer protection so a case can be opened on their practice of delaying returns so they can hold on to your money as long as possible. worst company ever. use amazon or find another company with more integrity. read more

I am an older guy. Been in and out of many many guitar places. While I had to wait a bit to get served, I was greeted by one great guy. I wanted to sell them my 2008 Gibson Firebird V got an excellent price, got to talk music and instruments. I felt very relaxed and felt like the musician I am. Nothing wrong with their products, selection, or set up. The two times I went in their I could not keep the associates attention. The first instance, the guy kept telling me this was his first week and told me sorry he couldn't give me an answer. He should have called or asked someone who would know. Then as I was checking out, the price was incorrect, now they called the manager but it was nearly 5 minutes. In the meantime the guy would walk away and ring someone else up on another register. When they did ring me up they didnt hand me my product but just walked away so I had to reach over the register and take it. The next instance the product price rang up incorrectly again so he said he would need to call the manager. The phone rang then he had a conversation with that caller for a few minutes, I just went and got the manager myself learning from my last experience. The manager said their prices arent always up to date. I would recommend making sure everything rings up correctly (if you care about money). read more

I was a little disturbed that there was a COVID19 outbreak at the Dayton Mall store and they continued to do business. I understand that for 2 days you were only allowed to pick up orders but the virus still spreads on boxes, etc. I went there to shop and thankfully did not have anything to pickup. I just think it was very irresponsible and there still are no guarantees the store is safe. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I was very disappointed on the treatment I got when I took my microphone i bought from them less than a year ago for $400.00. They did not want to help me at all. The first thing out of their mouth was that they can not do nothing for me and I have to call the manufacturer. It was amazing the difference of the treatment between purchasing and returning. buyer beware. I have to buy a lot more microphones for my church and I have to find a new place to do it. read more

They have a seperate section for each instrument, drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, pa systems....... the people are pretty knowledgeable and the prices are good. You can also go online and brouse all their items and even used items. They can be shipped to this store if need be. We have picked up 2 guitars, a bass amp, mixer . pa system, and the price range is from beginner gear to the pros. Worth your time to go here. read more

Walked into the store with not so much as a greeting from any of the two employees that saw me come in. I stuck around for a half hour to see if anyone would attend me or at least greet me, and.... nothing. Staff, while friendly and ambitious, is relatively ignorant in one vital area. Guitars. Three separate times I have asked an employee for help in ordering a part. On those three desperate occasions, I described what I needed abd what I needed it for. And every time, they ordered me the wrong part, thus, wasting my time and money. I know I could order my own parts, but I thought it would be best left in the hands of, "professionals." Save a bit of grief, and do 6 months of research on what you want before going here and asking for it. Because no one will know what you are talking about unless your explanation is painfully detailed. Update: So after picking up my guitar today (Les Paul standard) I discovered that one of my volume knobs had been chipped. A minor issue. And the other knob was non-functional. I was having the guitar worked on for a pickup switch out. Typically a simple procedure, but not this time. And I was overcharged for the procedure. All in all, poor service. I have been a loyal customer to Guitar Center for years, but now I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I had an awesome experience here with Taylor. I was very interested in a used guitar they had available but I happened to call literally 2 minutes before the store was closing. Taylor checked it out for me, gave me a really detailed report on the condition, and helped process the purchase for me. It arrived today exactly as described and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. BEWARE: I called Guitar Center and asked if they could restring my ukulele and the man on the phone seemed very nice and said yes. I asked how much he told me $20. I said "that's it?" and he said "that's it!" So I made arrangements to come in later in the week when the technician would be able there. When I came in, I told the technician that I had called and that someone told me that he could restring my ukulele. He seemed annoyed with me and said he could and it would cost $30 plus the cost of the strings. I asked how much the strings were and he said "you can use these" and pulled some off of the shelf. They were an additional $8 plus tax, coming out to about $40. I gently told the technician that I called and was told it was only $20 dollars and he said that the guy didn't know what he was talking about and that he needed to "educate others" in the store about it. He seemed hostile and I didn't feel like angering someone who was holding my precious ukulele and so I agreed to pay for the service. He didn't show me the strings in the package, but I assumed that because this was a professional ukulele with black, professional strings, that he would replace them with the same strings. When I came back to pick it up, the uke was in the case and I didn't really notice the strings. When I got home, I realized the strings were white and thick. They didn't feel right and it kept going out of tune. I know it takes a while for the strings to adjust, but after retuning 20+ times, it was still going out of tune and the strings weren't working with the uke body. I learned to play the uke while living in Hawaii and have played for 7 years, so I know how a uke works. I realized the problem was the strings, as they resemble the white strings you get on a low grade or toy ukulele. I called the store to try to resolve the situation and told the manager that the strings replaced were different than the ones I originally had and that they resembled strings on a toy ukulele. She told me that they don't carry toy strings but they don't carry the professional black strings that I originally came in with either and that I would have to order the strings online and then come in and get them restrung and quickly got off the phone. She had a less than friendly attitude and did not offer any apologies for the fact that I wasn't told that I would be getting different strings or for the inconvenience that I now have to start from scratch in getting my uke back to being able to be played again. There was no offer to make the situation right other than to come back when I got the strings myself and will probably be charged $30 or more again for the service. No thank you and never again. read more

Only go here if it's your last resort. In the last couple years this place has pissed me off more and more. All they carry now for DJ equipment is basically the little midi controllers. They don't stock any serious DJ equipment like Pioneer CDJs (which are the world nightclub STANDARD, evn though they tried to argue with me saying "those are kind of fading out" LMAO!!!! Don't think you'll see Teisto using a controller with virtual DJ anytime soon. You either use CDJs Technics or Vestax, at least they do stock the new Serato and Tractor. But what happened to the days when Guitar center had all the newest decks and mixers?? And mixers...Don't even get me started they don't carry anythink high end, and nothing even wort buying on the lower end. What a joke. And the rudeness of the associates, OMG. I used to go to the Cincy store spent a lot of $$$ and they would always give me a deal, such as "OK your spending $600 bucks, I tell you what I'll give you these 179.99 headphones for 130.00." And I appreciated that. At the Dayton store I desperately needed a new case for my turntable, was buying a laptop stand, new styluses, slipmats and some other stuff, I simply asked "can we do a little better on the price of the case (it was like $200) The associate rudely said "look do you want it or not?' I though F-no but I had no chioce I really needed it I bought it even though this A-hole pissed me off. Now just yesterday I called there asking about a new mixer, did they have it? or can I get a discount on the old model since thats all they had (not even at there store, another store-to be shipped) this guy kept just telling me to look on the websit, that he was busy, I said Look I have money right now I want to but a mixer!! He said he'd have to look into it asked for my nam and number, that he'd check and call me back. I gave it to him, he hung up and nobody ever called me back!!! I love it that he was to busy to sell something to me!!! Also on that crappy little numark midid controller they have in there, don'y even try it out because they don'y know how to organize any tracks in Serato Itch, all the BPMs are set wrong, the whole thing is just a mess. If I was wanting to buy one of those and I went in there, I'd think Damn this thing sucks, just because they don'y know how in the hell to organize the music in the sofware, and beatmatching tracks is ridiculous when all the songs are set at the wrong BPM... This place sucks and these people don't know anything. It's unfortunate because Guitar center in Dayton could be great. When they first open it was great. I think Poor managers (in proaudio anyways) and even worse associates, mixed with not even selling the higher-end professional level gear is Guitar Center Daytons downfall. I really wish they'd either get their act together or just close the Dayton store. It really is horrible how they run things there.... read more

Horrible customer service and dishonest. My wife wanted to surprise me with a new guitar for Christmas. She went to the music store knowing she knew nothing about guitars and would need help picking a new acoustic out. The stores Asst manager Chris helped my wife out and sold her a new guitar. She got the guitar out to her car, which he gave her no box, bag, or anything to transport it in, and upon closer inspection found multiple dings on the body, and two cracks in the bridge. She didn't know much about guitars but knew that it wasn't right. She went right back into the store and another man helped her this time and said that he himself knew it was broken and wasn't happy he sold it to her and at full price to boot. They ordered her a new guitar since they had no others of that particular guitar in stock. At this point she was upset and no longer wanted to do business with them which I wouldn't have either. When the new guitar came in a week later she went in to tell them she no longer wanted it. Chris, the asst manager was working the counter. He gave her attitude and grief and questioned why she no longer wanted the guitar. She explained she was not happy with her first visit and was going to purchase a guitar elsewhere. He gave her a hard time and denied remembering her, or selling her the guitar. This was the same guy that duped her into buying a "new" used, broken, full priced guitar and took full advantage of her knowing nothing about guitars. This jerk giving her a hard time after what he pulled. If your shopping for a loved one and know little about guitars stay clear of this business. Im sure their not all bad but better safe than sorry. Better my wife found it than me cause I'm not nearly as nice. My wife got the same guitar and a beautiful guitar case with it at Absolute Music in Fairborn for less than what it cost here and they were incredibly helpful/nice from what she told me. read more
