The before and after difference is dramatic. It's now a pleasure to play, with low action, smooth frets, and a proper bridge height/radius, among other improvements. Smooth communication, fair prices, and a quick turnaround too. Nothing against the big box places, but Will's shop is clearly the workspace of a very talented technician and artisan. The Martin Jr in stock was hanging with the other guitars was ready to play & she set me up to try it out. They had a good selection Martin accessories including a good assortment of guitar strings including the Martin brand so I also bought a spare set of the Martin LifeSpan Phosphor Bronze Light strings. I was short on time so did not get a chance to fully take in the ambience & experience of Dan & Sara's music store, but reading up on Crossroads before hand on their website & stepping into their store, I felt the warm embrace of some good vibes, and appreciate their community involvement in local music events in this very charming waterfront town. I like contributing to local businesses so I not only walked away with a very nice Martin acoustic electric guitar, it felt rewarding to give back. I hope to explore more of the Washington peninsula & look forward taking more time visiting Port Townsend & Crossroads Music.

Not only were they suuuuper sweet and made me feel comfortable even though I had no idea what I needed. Guitars I've looked at were priced competitively and ranged from beginner instruments to high-end Taylors, Gibsons and the like. I brought my Taylor in for service and was really pleased with the cost, turnaround and quality. These guys clearly know what they're doing, and that's a rare treasure these days. In an age when brick-and-mortar stores are being choked out by online conglomerates and franchises, Helmer's obvious competitive advantage is that you can walk in and get expertise, quality products and service, and the ability to see, touch and hear before you buy.

After saying they'd "go to bat for me", the staff in the store proceeded to give me crappy cajon after crappy cajon. (They're expensive wooden boxes that break if you play them with your hands.) After bringing this up to the office staff, they claimed no knowledge of the problem, said "Mojo has gone above and beyond", and refused to give us our money back. In short, DON'T SHOP HERE. Anything is better than having this place take your money and give you nothing but broken instruments.
