Premier Inn - Reception Area Premier Inn Newmarket

would give zero stars but would not let me write a review…read more Stayed at the premier for new year! I am originally from Newmarket and was visiting my family from Florida. The experience was terrible to say the least! The first room smelt like cigarette smoke. We told them we can't stay there because my husband has asthma, plus the smell was horrible. They second room had no heat. We complained religiously and they would adjust the heat from the front desk.Everytime we returned from being out the room was freezing and I would have to go back downstairs to the front desk only for them to turn it on again. You should be able to control your heat from your room. They finally moved us to another room for the last 3 days of our 8 day stay. The keys to the rooms never worked out I would have to get replacements almost daily. What happened to the good night guarantee? The bathrooms in the restaurant were filthy and had blue mop buckets in the Mens room because the urinals were leaking. The housekeeping cart that housed the cleanliness was dirty and moldy. I have reached out to the premier inn and the corporate office to no avail. I guess because I am here in Florida I don't matter... I would never recommend to anyone.

Lovely place to stay . Very helpful staff. We visit here at least 5 times a year to visit family …read more Rooms are always clean . Reception staff cant do enough to help .. rooms do get slightly warm at times. Shame there isnt another chair in bed room cos sitting on bed at night kills the back,if talking or watching tv. Breakfast is served in the restuarant which over looks the heath where the horses and jockeys go out for there morning canter. Which is nice to see whether continental or full cooked breakfast theres plenty to choose from . Car parking is just across the road . But limited parking reserved for premier in. Otherwise you have to park on the next level up and pay for parking. Besides that. This if a fab place to stay .I'd definatley recommend . Right on the edge of town .. too everything you could need round you .. banks, petrol ,station, foodstores and the rookery centre is a stone throw away for any essential needs or anything youve forgot.

It's a lovely child-friendly hotel with lots of extra amenities - the National Trust Property…read moreadjoining, a swimming pool (a quick dash from the main door), enormous grounds (including a 7mile walk/cycle), a dining room for families in the Conservatory and a smarter option in-house : the Frederick. There's a cinema room downstairs which shows films (DVDs - familiar ones) at 6pm and 8pm. Children's games-room down the hall (air hockey table, ping-pong, Wii and Playstation, and a football table), a crèche (babies & toddlers) and a den (child care and activities for older kids). Hire bikes, big or small, and Beds are lovely and (a little too) soft, pillows are all synthetic so a bit hot at night in winter, but you feel cosy and the decor includes some beautifully chosen pieces from the fifties and sixties - the desk lamp in our room was all-Thunderbirds-Are-Go!! Loved it. A few annoying things - staff are all a bit spaced out, harassed or very young (experience is important). It's difficult to get their full attention. It's an old house, so it's a bit of a warren of halls and staircases. That can go either way, depending on you. It does affect storage options so don't expect modernity - practical? Yes. Sleek and easy to open & close? No. The pool needs more changing rooms, and at least one more shower (it ONLY HAS one). But it's a good size and a good depth (1.4m) - you can swim some decent lengths. Complimentary towels come to you all warm & toasty. The glass windows make it a lovely indoor/outdoor space. Bean bags at the poolside - a winner. If you've for the cash then this is an ideal getaway for tired mums & dads. Romantic dinners a deux, kids kept busy, family-fun things to do (rain or shine), you could make some great memories here!

We spent a wonderful weekend at Ickworth in Suffolk. The hotel is located within a former private…read moreresidence of eccentric aristocrats, in a very large park which is now managed by the National Trust. The hotel is part of a small hotel group who has spotted a nice niche with affordable luxury hotels targeting families with young children. Compared to many small, charming boutique hotels where children are not necessarily very welcome, at Ickworth everything has been thought for children and for the parents at the same time. The staff was super nice, very flexible (late check-out, help with activities, organising dinner in the lounge rather than the restaurant etc.). We made the most of the park (Italian gardens visit, jogging in the forest, ride on bikes with the children, poney) and of the hotel (restaurants, swimming pool, kids activities, lounge for parents). We also visited the market at nearby Bury St Edmunds which was great. We will be back and will probably try to get friends with us to share such a great experience. Only downside to note was the entrance of this wonderful castle filled by prams... (they need to hide them!), wifi isn't free (com'on!) and the service for the Sunday lunch was veeery slow as the place is so popular with locals on Sunday.

Garrard's was easily one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had!…read more I can't say enough of the service, as it was perfect. Service was top notch, the friendly staff offered everything they could and more (fans, buckets of ice, directions, recommendations, etc, etc). We could easily see that they take great pride in the hotel, their work, and creating an enjoyable stay for their guests. The hotel itself has cleverly named rooms after race horses (as Newmarket is a very famous horse racing and breeding area), decorated with a picture or two of the horse the room is named after, and tastefully decorated with a one or two horse racing knick-knacks. The hotel and the rooms have fresh, comfortable and modern decor, impeccable visually and also in cleanliness. They've integrated technology with a one card master key to enter room and operate everything, you can listen to the radio in the bathroom, and free/fast wi-fi. The eating area was also modern, comfortable and we had a wonderful breakfast chosen off of a menu with a judicious quantity of varied selections. There is parking for four (tight) spots at the back, but there is plenty of parking on the streets with no residents permits needed. I'm forgetting some amenities, but you have 24 hour access to the hotel, and umbrellas as well. Definitely go to this hotel if you're staying in the area, or even for a get away from London!
