My wife and I have done purchases and re-fi's with others but after our experience with Garrit,…read more"Team Mcguire" will be our only source for home finance in the future. Garrit has everything you would want in a loan officer. *Proactive - He really got to know our situation, researched and told us what was truly best for us do. Basically he did more than get us what we asked for he exceeded our expectations and got us a rate and closing costs that were far better than we expected. *Knowledgeable and Experienced - I am one of those internet research type of guys and I have to tell you I have been researching a re-fi for our house for about 2 years now. I talk circles around most big bank agents that have approached me in the past. Garrit however was another level and was very eager to not just tell me how it is but to take the time to make me truly understand how everything works and the different options available. *Upfront and honest - Not much to elaborate here except that Garrit tells it like it is, but always from a positive angle and never from a viewpoint of defeat. An example would be something like a credit issue.... Garrit doesn't run, he gives you the facts and puts you on the track to repair and achieving a goal of financing (in our case re-fi). *Fun - Just a good guy to be around... one of the few people I have met who can maintain the highest levels of professionalism balanced with a positive, fun and energetic attitude. My wife and I could go on and on here... but we will just leave you with the following. If you are buying or re-financing in California take the time to contact Garrit McGuire at Academy Mortgage... you wont regret the decision. Paul and Heather Everett Livermore, Ca.

    Gwen Swain - Waterstone Mortgage

    Gwen Swain - Waterstone Mortgage

Occasionally, home loan purchase applicants experience difficulty obtaining a loan because of…read morecredit challenges, being self-employed, low appraisals or income to debt ratios. What happens when none of these apply? Waterstone Mortgage, and the Gwen Swain team in particular can make your life hell for about 30 days because you were exceptionally well-qualified but unfortunate enough to apply for a loan with them. If you want to stop reading now, here is the takeaway: there are conservatively 100 better qualified brokers in Idaho and nationally who should be considering your loan application. Gwen apparently cultivates a major online presence, focusing on first time and refinancing borrowers. I was referred to her by such a borrower (a relative), and thought I was in competent hands. Literally 24 hours before the close of escrow, we were still negotiating the wording of documents we had to sign, and escalating problems up the Waterstone food chain because Gwen and her team could not or would not respond to resolve issues. We were days from closing when Gwen said their underwriter would need "more time". Why? No one could say exactly. Did they need more documents? No, just "more time". We have had no fewer than 18 loans/refi's in our home buying and owning history and NEVER have we encountered a more incompetent, poorly trained and less caring group of mortgage workers. Our realtor, the escrow and the title team were uniformly aghast at Gwen's lack of competence and caring. At one point, she told me she "wasn't making anything" on my loan. That might have been the most honest statement I heard in the entire 3 month experience. Save your stomach lining. Apply anywhere but here. Every word of this review is true and can be proven by documents and emails.
