Guido's is definitely off the beaten path. As a visitor to Buenos Aires, I appreciated being taken here by one of my local friends, otherwise I would've never known about it.
The place is very small and full of fútbol memorabilia, but the more distinctive aspect of it is that you don't order from a menu. The server asked us if we had any allergies (I can't eat shellfish BTW) and from there he got us four random, awesome appetizers. For the main plate, he asked what kind of pasta we liked between penne, spaghetti or filled pasta (there were more but I can't remember now) and he got us whatever the chef wanted to prepare.
Same with the wine, all we needed to select was red or white (red of course!) The entire meal was really, really good.
I would recommend anyone visiting Buenos Aires to make it a point to go to Guido's. The experience is worth leaving Puerto Madero, Recoleta or San Telmo for a while.
Something important to know before you go, bring cash or your Visa debit card. That's the preferred method of payment. Lastly, we paid less that 40 dollars for the entire thing (two persons): appetizers, entrees, dessert, coffee and a bottle of wine. read more
