My two children attended RMS for the 2024-2025 school year and will attend this upcoming school…read moreyear. They are now 2.5 and 7, and were 1.5 and 6 when they started. They both love the school and their teachers. My older child has several health issues and the public school was not able to keep him safe and learning there for kindergarten, and we are so grateful to the RMS staff for their wonderful care and support for him during his 1st grade year. Before we found them, I wasn't sure if I'd have to figure out how to homeschool him (while working) but he's very social and I really hoped to find a school environment for him that would work. I am grateful we did. They have been very flexible to meet his needs and integrate him into the school community. This was the first daycare/school setting for my 2.5yo and she cried the first two weeks but then adjusted and is happy there. She is very attached to her teachers and classmates. She loves going to weekly French class, music class and PE, doing her work and going to recess each day. RMS has many engaging school-wide events for the children, from the International Peace Day celebration to the International Day luncheon, from the Thanksgiving potluck to the Mother's Day and Father's Day events. The upper classes have many activities too, including monthly field trips, ice skating lessons for 8 weeks in the winter, a spring play and spring art show and more. The director is kind, personable, and always makes time to talk. I was so impressed that during the first week of school, she already knew all the children by name and took time to greet them. We are looking forward to another wonderful year at RMS.

Teaching quality at RMS is outstanding. Emails or phone calls to the administration go ignored. Policies, procedures, and school calendars are changed frequently with little warning and no parental input. The school PTA means well, but has no communication with the administration. The owner has provided no contact information and is unreachable. To date during the current COVID-19 crisis, we have only received one email from the administration telling us they are "brainstorming ideas". No information on tuition, virtual learning options, summer plans, etc. FCPS sends out daily emails, by contrast.

The staff and teachers are warm, caring and kind but also encourage academic growth in a challenging and developmentally appropriate way. It was the perfect way to start their schooling! We love SHMS and highly highly suggest it!! I wish there were more stars to give this special place!!

SHMS is an amazing place. Our son attended in pre-primary and I've never seen a child so excited…read moreto go to school every day. The staff is wonderful, supportive, kind...top notch. The school's founder, Ms. Minarik, sits at the front door every single morning to greet each student with a handshake and engages them in conversation. Our son was only 2 when he was there but that routine became one of his favorites and we loved watching the way staff interacted with the children. This is a school where every child feels special and the children have wonderful role models in school to learn from. Staff turnover is low because people love working here and it is evident from the moment you walk through the front door. The classrooms are set up beautifully and class sizes are quite small in comparison to some other schools we visited. Our son's teacher knew how to find the strengths in each child and make them shine. The assistants were there because they wanted to be there and it was very clear they love children and the work they do. We had to move at the end of the year but if we had stayed near Reston, we would have kept our child at SHMS as long as possible. This is a school with heart.

Ms. Nazli and her team are all phenomenal with the babies, and they truly loved my daughter during her time at MCHL. We had to make the difficult decision to transfer her due to my work office changing locations. We are very sad about this, but the positive impact her teachers and classmates have had on her is here to stay. Thank you to the staff at MCHL for showering our daughter with so much love during her experience. We are forever grateful.

From the staff to the teachers, owners, leadership and daily activity teachers they bring in, the days are incredibly well thought out. The rooms are set up incredibly well and children lack for nothing. In addition to the kids opportunities, the parents have seemed to get along incredibly and the PTA volunteers are active and create great participation. As a historic testimony to the growth and consistency of MCHL, we have 10 children on our block alone that span 12 years of MCHL with different teachers all having the same great experience. All of the other parents that we have met and known at MCHL seem to convey the same message. I recommend at the very least interviewing the staff and teachers at MCHL when it comes to making a decision for schooling.
