She has really amazing communication skills which is key in childcare. We have never had any issues and I truly trust them with both girls (ages 3 and 4) .It's always clean and although our schedule is usually too busy to participate, they have many activities going on such as taco night, cooking classes for the kids, and parents night out. The only reason my older son doesn't go is because his school is too far for transportation of before and after care.

Our daughter attended Common Ground for almost four years. She had great teachers all the way…read morethrough. Nothing just positive things to say about them. So why 1*? The leadership. Let's start with the so-called "parents boards". Last I checked, half weren't even parents of kids who were at the center anymore. There is no election, no terms, no organization. The board president apparently is in charge of appointing board members. She will ask for volunteers- don't fall for it. Even if you apply, you will probably get ghosted. They are supposed to be in charge of hiring and monitoring the administration. So let's talk about that administration. The first executive director during our time here was let go for unclear reasons. Then they hired "Mr. G", who seemed to be quite close to the board president. And he ran this place to the ground. Tuition raises were common without explanation- but suddenly front office staff has brand new Macs, his friends are hired as admin, and he buys a brand new house. They randomly open a second location nearby the first one- seems it was owned by another buddy of his. They change food providers without reason to one that serves junk food- turns out it was because they were behind on paying the original one! Then finally he was let go/ quit- who knows, no one could get the story straight. From everything the board spun to the parents, he probably should have been charged with fraud and embezzlement, but the board declined to since they hired the grifter. So besides the finances, how did this impact our family? My daughter's transitions between rooms were completely botched by a constant lack of communication. Then when the second location shut down, they moved all the students over, and the original location was completely overcrowded. They moved one classroom into a make-shift room in the main hall and had to share it with much older grade schoolers. By the time COVID hit, we were about ready to pull our daughter out any way, so the decision was easy. If Common Ground reads this, don't bother trying to make excuses, you know all the above is true. I hope for the kids' and the amazing teachers' sake, they turn things around eventually.

As our daughter moved to the preschool and pre-k we realized our need for private kindergarten. We discovered that the Goddard School is the only accredited school in the area. This adds to all the amazing academics that made us continue to choose Goddard Schools over daycares in the area. We love that we have seen the consistency in the staff, many of them have been here since before we started three years ago. We highly recommend the Goddard School of Leesburg.

We enrolled our twin girls here at 16 months old. They had never been to a daycare. We left…read moreBeantree after 3 months. I initially decided not to post a review, but my husband convinced me that other parents may find my feedback valuable. Starting with the first week, our girls were consistently sick. We expected common colds, but they repeatedly got pink eye, ear infections, and one of our girls caught the flu. My husband thought it was too much but I convinced him to stay and that it was to be expected. However, since starting at our new school, our girls have not been sick once (granted, it has only been one month). The many rooms they rotate throughout the day is great for learning experiences, but I think it also helps facilitate germs between the different age groups. The adjustment was rough. Every drop off was filled with lots of tears and leg holding, but I fully expected this. This was the norm, even 3 months after starting. Overall, their teachers were very nice and seemed caring, but I believe it was hard to adjust because we could not depend on the same teachers being in the classroom at drop off. I tend to drop my girls off between 8am and 8:30am and sometimes there would be the usual teachers and sometimes not. This did not help with the adjustment. My girls thrive on consistency - I knew which teachers each of my girls "preferred" and when they were there for drop off, it made things a little smoother. They have monitors in the reception area that let you watch your child's classroom. I would typically make a cup of coffee (great perk!) and then go look at the cameras. After about 5 minutes, they would settle down and I would leave for work. One particular day, I made my usual cup of coffee and looked at the cameras. One of my girls was standing in the corner looking at the wall. It was very unusual. I stood there watching and just waiting for someone to go see if she was okay. No one did. It was heart wrenching. I watched for 9 minutes until my heart could not take it anymore and I asked the receptionist to come look at the monitor. As I was talking to her, one of the teachers went to my daughter, but only because they were gathering all the students to move to a different room. I left that morning and cried all the way to work. I felt so bad for my daughter and I felt like a horrible mom for having to leave her there and go to work. I decided at that moment I could not leave my children there anymore. They do not have the capability to watch your children remotely (which I was fine with - hacking is real!), but I need to be able to trust that my children are being taken care of and that trust was gone. That evening at pickup, their teacher did apologize and stated that it probably appeared worse than it was and that she was talking to my daughter from a distance. Maybe that's true, maybe not. Even if true, I want my children to attend a place where if they go stand in a corner facing a wall for 10 minutes, someone walks up to them to ensure they are okay. After we notified them we were leaving, the director asked for a meeting. We met with her and one of the teachers. If I wasn't already set on leaving, this meeting would have settled it. To further explain the corner incident, they said they typically leave Twin A alone in moments like this and she eventually comes around. During this meeting, they also decided to diagnose Twin A with anxiety. I was angry. To be clear, she does not have anxiety but she does take time to adjust to new people - as many toddlers do. They should leave the medical diagnoses for doctors. Additionally, they provided us daily reports and not once did a daily report or teacher say Twin A stands in corners or that they think she has anxiety. I also watched the monitor every morning and never observed this either. They proposed putting my twins in separate classrooms. I am a lawyer, also not a doctor, but it seems like that would worsen a twin's anxiety if they'd been together all day every day for 18 months. We started at a new school days later and to say they are thriving would be an understatement. Within a week, Twin A, with her supposed anxiety, was smiling during drop offs. Seeing my girls grow and enjoy their new school as happy AND healthy toddlers made me realize they don't have to be sick all the time and they don't have to be sad at drop offs. I feel awf They did have a lot of positives too - They have great perks like coffee for the parents in the morning and to go snacks for the kids in the afternoons. They also provide diapers, wipes, and diaper cream which is really nice. I think this is to be expected for the cost you pay, but price aside, not having to regularly haul a ton of diapers in for 2 toddlers (they go through a lot!) is a huge convenience for this busy mom. It was one less thing to remember in the morning. During our time there, they had a spirit week which was really fun - we enjoyed dressing the girls up for the different themed days.

Ms. Amanda, the principal, knows everyone that walks through the door, both the kids and the family. Our son has some food allergies and Ms Amanda, Ms Paula and all the teachers have been excellent at working with us and keeping our son safe. The staff truly gets to know the kids and takes care of them well. They are careful with big transitions and try to ensure the children feel as supported as possible. The staff plans and executes lots of fun and engaging activities, like a Touch a Truck, a reptile show, splash days in the summer, soccer and music opportunities and celebrates all cultures exposing the kids and to a world of celebrations. Our son has blossomed during his time at Chesterbrook and we would highly recommend the school.

The teachers have been there for years and years and they enthusiastically love what they do and the children in their care. I regularly received email updates on what the class was learning, they shared photos and even did conferences to outline their curriculum goals and my son's progress as it reached to them. I shared this with my best friend and cousin who is a preschool teacher and she was blown away by the level of engagement and communication we told her we had with not only his teachers but the directors. The curriculum is play-based, which is what we wanted. Learning through play has many benefits and we wanted this to be a fun and engaging experience for our little guy. And it was! I was initially thinking it was crazy to send a 2 year old to preschool but it turned out it was so much fun and he loved leaving to go to "school" each week. In addition to LANK being a fantastic educational experience for my son, it feels like a really close-knit community of caring parents and caregivers. Both my husband and I have met so many families that we have now become friends with through the many activities for families throughout the year. An added bonus! I highly recommend this wonderful school - a cornerstone in the Reston/Herndon community.
