I would NOT recommend Guide Property Services. Our apartment building, Westwood Vista, caught fire over a week ago on 2/19/22. The fire alarms didn't go off, I didn't even know there was a fire until our hallway was FILLED with smoke already. I had to rush me and my 3 young children out of the building from the 3rd floor. My face was covered in soot, and my nose & clothes. The girl that helped us out of the building, God Bless her, had smoke inhalation & went to the hospital. I can't stop replaying everything in my mind. My children are traumatized. The worst day of my life.
They are giving us minimal information to keep us at bay. I reached out directly and never heard a direct response back regarding my situation. They send out a mass email every other day, will little to no information. They have us in a hotel as of right now, a hotel with a mini-fridge, no microwave or kitchenette. ServPro found Asbestos on the 3rd and 4th floor, after the fire, they still won't give us an answer on when they will be ending our leases so that we can find a new home. CLEARLY NO ONE CAN LIVE THERE IF THERE IS ASBESTOS FLOATING AROUND. I have heard from other sources that the fire was caused by a "malfunctioning appliance". They just had us out of the building a month ago in a hotel because the electric panel had to be upgraded. I guess there was break-ins to units while we were in the hotel, even though they promised us they had it secured. Property Manager, Andy, randomly quits after this. I didn't even hear about any of this until the fire happened.
They've boarded up all entrance points to the building now, and are putting a fence around the building today. But yet can't officially tell us that the building is going to be closed, and we can't live there again? My lease is up in June anyways and I was not going to re-sign. There are many families in this building, many of us on housing assistance. My housing case manager through SHA & the inspection teams can't even get in contact with property manager "Sara Brown", to inspect my unit to confirm it is uninhabitable, so that I can get a new voucher and find a NEW HOME for me and my 3 young kids. Or if "Sara brown" would just start the process of ending our leases, that would start the process of getting a new housing voucher too. We could be homeless/in a hotel for another 2-4 weeks until we can get into a new place. Oh, and they originally told us they were going to be giving us $65/day for food, as a credit on our rent account. That is nowhere near enough, no credits applied yet, I don't even want the credits since I won't be living here anymore. I want my lease ended, my deposit back, ETC.
Everything in my unit is RUINED by smoke damage or asbestos now, my grandma passed away two years ago and I have many pieces of furniture inside my place that are hers & irreplaceable. It makes me sick. I am a single mom on a small income, it took my years to get the things we have and make our place a home for my children.
OH, and they have an ant problem. I live on the 3rd floor and I am getting ants? And mold around the window sills. I lived in an even older building previously in N. Seattle and never had ants, or mold growing around the window sills. None of this can be healthy.
