I showed up at this Hotel with Normal expectations only to be disappointed, I cannot stress enough how nasty and run down this hotel is. On top of the dirty filth on just about everything there were even bed bugs on the mattress. I even asked to be moved to a different room after the owner told me that they had plenty of rooms, And just as dirty as his own hotel he told me they were sold out just 10 minutes after checking in.. So I tell him I will be going somewhere else because I am not staying in a room with bed bugs , no desk chair very little light in the room and the counter top was dirty with a used bar of soap on it.. you can't make this up in a holiday horror film.. Not even a hotel phone in the room. read more

$86 for a room with 2 beds when I clearly didn't need the second. Cigarette burns on every flat edge including the bathtub. Heavy Heavy cigarette smells, leaving fan on and door open does nothing. Door lock broken and door sags so much door deadbolt lock won't align so basically you cannot lock the door in room 229. Ceiling in shower collapsing Boogers on the walls Freezer compartment frozen shut Look how carefully and lovingly they placed the complimentary coffee, etc.. TP dispenser hanging out of wall Dirty remote The iron holder was on top of a shelf with parts of a toilet paper dispenser. Iron just carelessly wrapped with its cord and thrown on top the towel rack Trash behind furniture Plumbing so loud I felt bad for the guests that shared a wall, I'm sure they were woken up it was so loud to flush the toilet. Overall a disgusting place read more

Was told $56, but was charged $80. But I did get water stains on the ceilings, TP holder hanging out of the wall, cable tv that I had to fix myself, a door that doesn't seal well so when people stand outside to smoke, the smoke comes into this room. And it lets all the traffic noise in as well. Then there is the drunk sitting on the steps right outside moaning and shouting for hours. Other transients hanging out in the parking lot being loud, also drinking and smoking. I should have just stayed in my truck. read more

Upon my arrival at this fine establishment I was stunned to see the spectacular splendor that is a room at the GuestHouse Inn. The rooms had a beautiful view of Loves Gas Station and an antique plastic bag chandelier hanging from the fire detector. The helpful concierge provided me with the finest dirty towels I've ever had the joy of drying off with. In the morning I awoke to the sight of roaches in my bed and the smell of asbestos. I highly recommend staying at the GuestHouse Inn for anyone who would love to contract a rare, airborne STD. read more

We decided to check in here and we thought wrong once we got our rooms I went to my room and noticed big black mold all over the shower head and the shower. My parents room had a major leak in the bathroom where the ceiling was cracking really bad and it came through and medium size bubbling in the ceiling close by the cracked ceiling. Both rooms smelt like animal pee that soaked in to the carpets and it was nasty having Asthma I can not be around a room that smells gross or had anything bad like left from behind. The guy who was staying next door was drinking non stop beer after beer saying foul words. So we went back up to the front desk and left. This hotel is old and felt run down but with some modern furnishings which was nice don't get me wrong. All the accessible rooms are up stairs side by side and nothing down stairs. If you have a coupon that won't honor it for some unknown reason. If you are by yourself looking for a hotel I would certain look else where even though this hotel was nice price but they need to fix some of the rooms like get rid of the smell in some of the rooms, mold and dog peed carpets for starters if you want the hotel guest to stay. Over all last opinion or fact. It'll be up to you to judge for yourself. read more

Abysmal! Room was dark to hide the stains on the linens and ironing board. Rough drywall patching with no paint. Water damage hole above toilet, possible mold, and peeling ceiling in hallway. When I informed them of the problems they weren't surprised and said they were doing "renovations" which wasn't advertised anywhere. Requested a new room, was told they were booked solid. Wifi was unusable in the rooms. Went to a nearby McDonalds and got lodging elsewhere. (in my search for availability for the date duration, this hotel appeared proving that they were NOT booked up. So they are also LIARS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Parking lot was also falling apart. You could hear the nearby highway louder in the room than outside. Exterior in bad condition. read more

Complete slum! Busted off faucet. Stains. Cranky staff. Gouged vanity. Missing drawer handle. Shower leaks on the floor beneath the tub. Broken ironing board. (Iron missing anyway.) No screen. Bathroom door doesn't shut. Did someone have a fight in here? Refrigerator wobbles. Lamp looks like it came out of a zombie apocalypse. Walls in disrepair. I hope there aren't bedbugs. (Bed itches!) The Internet doesn't work. The TV keeps cutting out. Yuck. And, here's the kicker: $170 per night. Stay away. Stay far, far away. The only thing that might improve this is the liquor store next door. . . (I hope we don't get charged for the missing iron. We just checked in.) Rooms this bad should be illegal...in fact it probably is. Whelp, I warned you. If you ended up here it's your own d@## fault. LOL. This is so bad it's laughable. read more

I cant even give this a 1 star. DO NOT STAY HERE. PERIOD. I am reporting this hotel. They charged my son $72 to stay here cause every hotel was booked up and he was exhausted. The AC was not working and they gave him a fan. REALLY??? WHERE IS THE MAINTENANCE MAN?? I called and asked this really mean woman WHY they put him in this room???? That is inhumane, especially with a service dog. HOW can people run a business like this and get away with it???? The window has no screen and the lock on the window doesn't work!!!! Im highly upset. The lady said she didn't know the AC didnt work..yea right---- try again. She also told me she had more rooms. My son does NOT lie. Why would he say the lady said there were no more rooms and stay in a room with no AC. She also gave him a fan and she gave him a fan. WOW. WOW. WOW. She told me to contact the manager on monday that she is just an employee here--- WOW. I plan on contacting more then just a manager!!! read more

The only reason they got a one is because you can't give a minus. This place needs to close. The worst place I have ever stayed. Nasty, broken, unsafe, loud and gross breakfast if, that's what you want to call it. There should be some kind of law against this place. The health inspector needs to check it out. I wash d my hands every time I touched something, yuck. read more

Horrific. It is just astonishing that this place is open AT ALL. It is a health hazard and utterly unsafe by any definition. Reeked of smoke, mold, + rotten debris. Clientele=Unknowing travelers or unsavory characters up to questionable activities. Doors did not close much less lock...appear to have been kicked in....black mold thick on the floors, ceilings caving in....Furniture very well could have been salvaged from a landfill. I spent as much money to stay at this rip off dive as I would have spent at a NICE facility just up the road. The unpleasant woman who checked me out was special. In addition to the other complaints- this place charged me $15 per night for my dog. I had one show dog with which I travel who is well trained, behaved and very very very clean. The entire stay at this place was not worth $15. I can only assume St Joseph has no Dept of Public Health or Safety and no Police presence from what I could see. AVOID at all costs. read more

HORRIBLE. DIRTY. And BAD SERVICE! Air conditioner didnt work in room, so had to ask to be moved by a disgruntled woman at the counter. Then In the next room the tv remote didnt work. When I asked about that, the reply was an argument detailing about how that could not be. My reply was, whatever the reason, it is not working. Gave up on that and went to dinner to return and find they had entered our room when we were out to replace the remote. WOW. Check the pictures out. The rooms were supposedly renovated. Sh#thole. read more

We were told that we could pay when we showed up at the hotel but we were charged before arriving. Once arriving I see why we were charged they knew once we saw the room we would have changed our mind.. My husband and I were almost to the point of eating the cost of the room and going up the road to Council Bluffs IA. I know that most people have cell phones now but there was no phone to call anyone, no alarm clock. The room was big enough for our dog kennel but we were not told that we were being placed in an ADA accessible room.. After a long drive I was looking forward to a nice soak in the tub. But if we had a different room at this place I still may not have soaked it was disgusting. I would have never rented any of these rooms if I owned this place as they were under renovation and desperately need it, as the sign stated newly renovated. I know I see this on everyone's review if I could give it a negative star I would. read more

Specially the house needsthe employees Specially the inn maid and another employee was rude was told to get out for no reason and beds were dirty and room wast well kept and cigarette burns are everywhere to bed found we only asked for a different room cuz of the state of the room and the door thing for the key cards didn't even work read more

got 4 different rooms and all of them were filthy stained sheets and furniture along with bugs wouldn't recommend!

our room was barely adequate. The hotel is located right next to a busy intersection that is very rough and a truck stop. there was constant traffic noise. The deadbolt on the door didn't work and we had to ask to have the safety latch installed. The breakfast is minimal and bland. Overall, I would say this hotel is only good for a one night stay and go. It is close to the interstate and a few restaurants / fast food places. read more

Total nightmare. I honestly can't believe this place hasn't been shut down. The sink handle just came right off, there was broken pieces of god knows what just leaning against the wall in our room, hair in the shower, pieces of the ceiling coming off, and to top it all of BLOOD on one of the pillows. This place is unsafe and disgusting. Upon finding the blood, I decided that was the last straw. That was about an hour and a half after we checked in (with my two year old,) so we went to the front desk and said we won't be staying due to the BLOOD IN THE ROOM. The employee gave no apology, didn't offer us another room or make any kind of effort to make it right. He was actually kind of rude, as if we did something wrong, but said he'd take care of it. He didn't, he charged us. Definitely on purpose because hotels don't charge until you leave, they only keep a card on file in case you don't pay... So that was obviously vindictive. I've disputed the charge, contracted red lion hotels, and the BBB. This place should be leveled and rebuilt before it can be legally rented out. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more
