We were greeted by Peggy the Inn Keeper with a smile and just a downright peachy attitude that rubbed off on us as soon as we entered. I reserved "The Cottage" which was a typical small town 2 bedroom house right next door. It was perfect for us since we had another couple with us and after a night at the underground Irish pub, we were thankful that we didn't have to be quiet when we came back. We also had a great time playing the Wii and relaxing in the living room. I highly recommend The Cottage to anyone. Now for the breakfast, truly amazing! The 3 course meal left me full for the rest of the day and Peggy's expertise in the kitchen was on full display through the presentation and quality of the breakfast she had made. Peggy really made the morning fun with her bubbly personality, and hearing some of her stories was one of the highlights of the morning. To top everything off, I somehow managed to leave my toiletry bag in the bathroom and didn't realize it until later that night. So here I was expecting to drive the hour on my lunch break to pick it up when I checked my email and Peggy had sent me an email stating that she found it and had already mailed it to me. Talk about going above and beyond what's required. I can't thnk you enough Peggy for an incredible experience. I'm already planning our next trip back so we can see some more Irish bands at O'Malleys!

It had a vibe of a deserted pumpkin patch--random picture ops like phone booths and other oddities scattered around that didn't seem to quite make sense. There was a sign for a general store, but it didn't look open, if it was ever a store at all. Then, we found some double saloon doors leading to what appeared to be a bar. A sign inside said, "If you want a drink, call Jeff." Now, I don't know where Jeff was or what he was up to if he wasn't tending bar, but I wasn't about to find out. We snapped a few pics of the dusty artifacts, but didn't venture too far. After all, we were on a quick weekender, and the idea of a trip to urgent care for a tetanus shot didn't seem like the best plan. Kenna is quite amazing with her presentation and the quality of food exceeds any expectation we've ever had. Unfortunately, a quick getaway this time quickly turned into an unpleasant experience. After dinner both of our keycards stopped working. We called the Inn for assistance and knocked on the main door but received no response. Luckily, another patron of the Inn easily slid a credit card into the room door jam and unlocked our door. We were lucky to have someone help us get into the room but equally concerned with the fact that the room door had to be left open/unlocked for the remainder of our stay to avoid future lockout situations. Additionally, the lack of effort it took for someone to open our door is more than concerning for safety reasons. To top off a lovely day and a hiccup with our keys not working the Inn elected to charge us extra (above our nightly rate) for unknown reasons. Again, calls to the Inn were not answered or returned. I don't usually take time to write reviews and would have overlooked our room keys not working if it wasn't for the unknown charges on our card. It's sad to experience what I would call a potential for a 5-star review be handled so poorly due to a lack of any response from the Inn. I hope this review prompts the Inn to improve the quality of communication and duty of care for their patrons.

He explained that all the shops are closed on Monday and Tuesday.. Then he told us to wait a minute, and he got a coffee pot and brewed us a cup! We were blown away by his kindness. As we chatted with him we discovered he wasn't even working! He had just stopped in to check on something for his boss. THIS is what small towns America is all about!
