One of us love their stuff so we decided to stop by here on a Sunday afternoon to buy a dress. Friendly, attentive, great customer service.

I dislike having to leave a one-star review, but my experience with my 2 online orders from Gudrun has been beyond frustrating & leaves me no choice. When I make calls (repeatedly) to try to resolve issues with out of stock items & refunds, the US staff is pleasant and sympathetic, but they have no ability to sort out the problems,--they "escalate my case" to the main office in Sweden, which unfortunately seems incapable of or uninterested in a resolution. As for the clothing itself, the two items I actually received I felt were overpriced and of only average quality, and the colors did not correspond to the photos in the catalog. I understand catalogs are printed up to a year in advance of mailing, so a customer cannot be confident of what is actually in stock. I think the company puts serious marketing money into lavish catalogs and photo shoots in exotic locales--unfortunately, the quality of the actual garments does not live up to the hype. At this point I have pretty much given up hope of being refunded what I am owed, and do not plan to order from Gudrun again. read more

One of my favorite stores to hit up when I come to New York... Also an avid fan of ordering online. Had hoped to come in and try on some of the items I had spotted in the catalog but after almost 10 minutes of looking through racks and not being asked if I needed help with anything, or even having my presence in the store acknowledged, by either of the workers I decided I'd rather take my chance with an online order and left. I would give NEGATIVE STARS if possible. The catalog and photos are beautiful, but nothing like the crumpled dress and sweater that arrived carelessly wrapped with a reused cotton ribbon thrown inside a paper bag. The construction and fabrics looked cheap, and for that I paid $328.03 !!! Shame on you Gudrun Sjoden for taking advantage of me, the consumer. My time and energy have been wasted along with my confidence in shopping for clothing on the internet. I will see how soon I am credited for the UPS return and the deduction of $7.00. Update: Because there's no option to offer feedback on the GS website, I will mention a recent online purchase here. I bought the Coffee jersey dress in S. The fit here is good., the pattern and colors pretty. However the fabric isn't jersey. It's stiffer material than a similar dress I ordered last year, and doesn't drape softly like jersey. Too bad because GS produced quality clothes two years ago. An update on my recent experience: Today I received notification that my money had been refunded for the huge overalls -- MINUS $8 for shipping. I sent an email, requesting removal of my name from their mailing list and I also have unsubscribed from future emails. I'm done with Gudrun Sjoden and I hope everyone will be aware of this experience I've had. One more thing: Gudrun crows about her "green soul" but every item is in a plastic bag within a plastic bag mailer. How "green" is that? sheesh. read more

I finally made it here and so pleased that I did. A lot of the clothing here is fun, some of it is whimsical and it's all super comfortable with many pieces feeling really well made. I spent over two hours here and sales woman Betty was so incredibly kind and helpful. She took care to listen to my shopping needs of the moment and made me feel like a very valued customer. I ordered $463 worth of clothes from Gudrun Sjödén America back in March. I returned all items and have only received $47 back in refunds. I have 12 email exchanges with customer service- a complete run around of nonsense. I spoke with customer service over the phone a few days ago. The conversation was a Nightmare- the woman was condescending and disinterested. After being on hold I was told there was some type of glitch from finance... what?! This is a ridiculous way to conduct business! Bottom line- when will I receive my refund - I need and want my money back! read more

Love the colors and the fabrics are also good. I get a lot of compliments. However, when I returned some items by dropping them off at UPS, I never got a refund. My UPS tracking number said the items arrived at the destination 2 days after I dropped them off. So today I called GSjoden customer service. I was told they were "lost" but because of my call, I would get a refund in 5 days. I wonder if all return items get "lost" unless someone makes a call. read more

Fun clothing! I have quite a few things now from GS--I like them all. Interesting colors and easy to wear. Actually love the dresses...But, I have no idea if ANY of the things I sent back have been credited to my account--as you can't access an account online. I assumed they were being credited until I read a review so I now need to go and check all of my credit card statements.... so inexcusable that this has been a problem for at LEAST a year. This is what I have been getting on the website....when I look for information about my orders: "Hold on - we're renovating my pages Hello! ​Colorful renovations to the functions of My pages are currently underway. We are improving and renewing the functionality and design. This will make it easier and even more fun for you to be our customer." Recently this was added --"My pages" are due to be launched in May 2019." I will be back to review again if this deadline is not met--it is mid-May--I am not hopeful. read more

The company somehow changed my account name to my sons name when he bought me a gift certificate. In the store, they revived an old account, and told me customer service would sort it out if I called them. On the phone with customer service, they blamed my son for messing up my account ( he couldn't have logged in, he doesn't have my password) and refused to honor the points for my purchases made in store. The agent was rude and disrespectful. She kept interrupting me. Before this I was a faithful Gudrunista, but now I see what people are talking about with the terrible customer service. I love the quirky designs and prints of Gudrun's clothes. Although pricey, I have splurged quite a bit in the last few years. In the last year the quality of the clothing has declined dramatically. I always wash the clothes on delicate and don't machine dry. Despite this treatment the stitching in non stress areas has unraveled on at least two items purchased in 2019. I recently contacted customer service in an effort to receive credit for my 2019 purchases as described in "club membership benefits", they were rude and refused to help me. The clothing designs are not complicated and manufacture is not pricey (made mostly in India and Bulgaria. Certainly another designer will soon fill the void left by this retailer read more

I have started calling myself Gudruns biggest fan in Oregon. I love her designs! I admit, I've been surprised to read so many negative reviews. I'm concerned now and will certainly watch for quality issues. I've dealt with customer service several times and have had acceptable experiences. They just had a sale in which I bought enough stuff to earn a hefty voucher, there was a lot of trouble getting my voucher but a customer service agent called me to make sure I got it and knew how to use it. read more

Awful customer service. On the web page, to apply coupon...website doesn't validate..archaic design. Enter in a text box. Web page indicates the discount will be applied on the paper invoice with the shipment. Noticed my credit card was charged the full amount. Customer service chastised me for using a coupon that wasn't from their website. Was very difficult. When I asked a supervisor to respond..least they could do was give me a small discount. I received a canned email lecturing me that I was supposed to only use their coupons. Escalated again with another canned response... never apologizing for my time being wasted. Finally gave up. Addendum, Though all were helpful in trying to resolve my double charge problem, I finally did speak to someone who understood the GS system well enough to just reverse the charge. She was extremely apologetic about the trouble I'd had and gave me a small credit bonus as recompense. So I think Gudrun Sjoen they either moved this store to SOHO (from BK), or opened a second location (I believe it's the former). They are now at 50 GREENE STREET between Broome and Grand St. I was walking around Soho and recognized the name from the subway ads and decided to take a peak in. The clothes are great! They fit a variety of ages and body types and are in great prints, mostly natural fibers. The two swedish women who worked at the shop were super nice and helped me with sizes. Unfortunately for me, almost all the smaller sizes were sold out in store and onllne. They told me it was the end of the spring season and the summer clothes would be in the shop soon. The cost for most items ranged between 95-150. It's sort of funny - they sell tank tops for around $85 and some dresses/tunics for around $90. I wouldn't buy a tank at this price, but I would definitely buy a dress. I deducted one star because almost everything I saw there seemed to be made in China and for the price point of these items I would expect manufacturing from a country that didn't have so many ethical issues surrounding production. read more

Clothes may be nice but worst customer service online EVER!!!!!! I received an item as a gift and am unable to exchange without notifying giver even though I am willing to pay any extra costs. On phone was told they could help me, spent 15 minutes giving information then told no after all. I have never before longed to have much more money in order to buy clothes. I longed to buy other things, but never clothes. And then I found Gudrun Sjoden. I have been there twice, and spent over $600 each time, which is often more than I spend in a year on clothes. I just love it there. The clothing is bright, interesting, comfortable, mix-and-matchable, and usually made from natural fibers, including organic cotton. The fact that it's often made in China doesn't bother me so much, as I have trust in the company, and believe they contract with reputable and responsible factories. Not all factories are alike, even in China. Smaller items do seem expensive for what they are, but overall, I find the pricing very reasonable, since the clothing is unique and timeless, and also really built to last. I constantly wear my GS clothing, so it's washed regularly, and it's still good as new over a year later. The sales associates are always friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and as a size 14/16/18, it's refreshing to be able to choose what I truly want to wear, rather than just what happens to fit of what is in a store on a day I need to buy something. One thing to take note of: their sizes really run large, so definitely try things on. Also, the design tends to be kind of loose and boxy, so don't go there for form-fitting items. read more

Perfect Retail Therapy! I have spent more money in the last 3 month on clothes from Gudrun Sjoden than I have in four years! I really love the fit, the designs...just about everything. I am a big girl, and I appreciate being able to wear these designs. (Last week, I bought a dress that I would never consider, but it is a smaller size than usual, and I think I look really cute in it.!) I love shopping in the store because the sales staff is very attentive, but not pushy. They all seem to really like what they are doing, and where they are doing it. A couple of times, I have had to order merchandise online. It is great anticipating getting a package from Sweden! After ordering from the catalog and returning a few items, as well as keeping some ( good experience no issues at all, credit was prompt ) I finally visited the store in NYC. OMG, great place. The sales assistants were very helpful with styling my choices and not pushy at all. The clothing can be sized up or down, depending on how you want it to fit, as it's cut very well with seaming and attention to details. Style wise you can go as funky or as practical as you want. Love the colors, patterns and designs. Bought 5 items when I only planned on 1. Thank you for a very fun shopping experience as well as some lovely outfits. read more

I'm from the midwest. and discovered Gudrun Sjoden through an ad in the New Yorker. I love so many of the pieces...I'm actually interested in clothing again. The clothes are perfect for my style, age, comfort, and budget...well, okay, a little high but not completely out of reach. And I am actually wearing color. (My friends and family are SHOCKED!) When my first order arrived, i was expecting to be disappointed...instead, I was nearly giddy! Now, when I have extra money, I am heading to the website. The clothing might be nice, but the online customer service is terrible. I purchased and included a gift card. The site said the gift card would be deducted from the total. That did not happen. Contacted customer service and they would not provide refund. GS Cust service said the only way to fix was to send back the items - do a return - and re-purchase. Have not visited the Manhattan shop BUT their catolog is lovely. Some of their things not exactly fashionable for the Metropolitan area (only my opinion of course)...looks a bit too much like Heidi wear. However, I did order two linen dresses, tights and leggings (footless tights really) and kept everything. Ordered two sizes in each dress...they take 7.00 off to use their return label, but well worth it - a fortune to drive into the city from NJ just to go to one shop. Purchased two pair of shoes as a gift for a friend. After 3 weeks of not receiving them I looked at tracking and they still showed the package was overseas. I'm in the US. I had to go out and purchase replacement gift because her birthday was in a couple days. I receive the GS order last night, 25 days later. Too late. I went to return them and found out they were final sale which I didn't notice. They refused to even give me a credit and were flip and condescending. They blamed UPS instead of taking ownership. I complained on one of their many advertisments in the comment section, warning people their order could take almost a month to receive and my comment was deleted. Notice they don't allow reviews on their website. Easy to stay in business when you just delete and silence any complaints. I will never trust this company nor will I support their bloviated self-impressed words with empty actions. Way to run a business GS. You must be rolling in dough like a pirate to throw away loyal customers. At least you won't get my dough anymore. Maybe Gudrun Sjödén herself is too busy to notice what's happening to her company. Their website is a disaster-- just try to order something when a sale is running, like today, and you are in for a world of hurt. The checkout process takes you to a page that says-- "something went wrong." Then try to get a hold of customer service or message them by email and Facebook...don't hold your breath, just move on and forget about this company. read more

Love love love this store. They have all sorts of fun colorful dresses, skirts, tops, shoes and other accessories. One of the really neat things about this store is that items are designed to coordinate with one another and many of the items are designed for layering. The sales girls are really friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that some of the tops are disproportionately pricey when compared to the cost of the skirts and dresses. I love Gudrun's flattering, comfortable clothing and her sense of social responsibility. The Green Street store, like the other Gudrun stores in Europe, is hospitable to its customers with nice seating, cold water (very welcome on a hot NYC summer day) and incredibly nice and helpful staff. My only wish is that this store was located in a less out of the way place. Soho is an area that is more popular with tourists than actual New Yorkers. If a Gudrun store were further uptown, I would shop there more instead of ordering from the webshop. How about Chelsea? Or the Upper East or West Side? read more
