Going to one of the family who raves all the time about GCC and we were headed there and decided to treat them with what they like. Although they eat non veg we were having all vegan today. Veggie Manchow Soup (3/5) - very different from everything we have had. But still good. Nice spice level. Veggie Fried Rice (2/5) - as with all Brampton Hakka restaurants they use basmati rice as well and we don't like basmati in Hakka cuisine Veggie Manchurian Balls (1/5) - Very disappointed with our favourite Hakka dish. The sauce very different and balls too mushy. The sauce just had some hit but very flavourless Hot Garlic Tofu (2/5) - Lacked garlic. Just pieces of tofu, in a spiced red coloured sauce and hardly any garlic. Chilli Mixed Veg (2/5) - all the mixed veggies in a similar sauce as above just brown in colour. Veg Noodles (2/5) - Good and quantity and still no flavour. Wish it was more spice and some more seasonings. Truly disappointed. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I had ordered dry chilli chicken and ended with very bad food poisoning. No comment on the service and ambiance as I had ordered via Uber eats. I ordered take out yesterday September 15th, 2024 at around 8.00pm. Mixed fried rice, mixed hakka noodles and chillie fish with gravy. As usual the rice and noodles container was not full. the quantities were poor. And while I was waiting in the restaurant for my order to be prepared, I saw a mouse run out of the kitchen and towards the cold drink fridge near the counter. The staff (girl) too saw the mouse and jumped. She went into the kitchen and I asked her what she was going to do about it. She said that she would call the owner. I'll start off by saying that the fish Pakora is good, we thoroughly enjoyed it, we did not like the saucy Chili Chicken or the pineapple fried rice. All the components had about 25% too much salt, and the breading on the Chili chicken was immediately mushy, even though we enjoyed it immediately. Although the City of Brampton and Mississauga may have its share of Indian-Chinese ( Hakka) type places. There is something about Guddu's taste and flavour that can't be denied. This place is very unassuming, your not staying here for dinner. In fact, initial impressions I got were that they weren't finished " doing up" the place. Regardless, I didn't come here for the decor. I came for the food. The lunch specials are quite good, and during the lunch hour you will find people getting take-out, with the odd few sitting at what tables they do have. My favorite food at this place bar none, is the Manchuarian Veggie. I have eaten at many Indian-chinese restaurants across the city, and let me tell you this item on the menu caught my by surprise. It was very fresh. They also have other excellent items such as the noodles, and of course chilli chicken. I was told by a friend that this place serves indian-chinese the " delhi" way, coupled with the delhi flavour and taste. I must admit, I did taste a difference from other Indo-chinese places. Nevertheless. The food here is very good. Again, don't plan an evening out with family to this place, but do get take-out. read more

I recently moved to the Brampton North West area after living in the Brampton South East area. My usual Hakka spot was Hakka Flavours on Queen st. I was craving chili chicken one day and the drive to Hakka flavours was way too far. I opted to go to Guddu's and order their dry chili chicken. First of all, there was no rice included so you had to pay extra for that. I took mine as take out and when I got home, the chili chicken was very red in color (looked like sweet and sour chicken). I'm accustomed to chili chicken dishes looking more brown than red. I would have to say they use a lot of breading in their chicken which makes it VERY soggy and gross. I did not end up eating most of it. Costed almost $15 for a chili chicken and side of white rice. Will never return. read more

Tried them during lunch special on a weekday. Their chilli shrimp with fried rice (upgrade for $1) was not something I would recommend. The rice was okay but the shrimp was not tasty at all. It was deep fried with gravy that was watery and had no taste of Chinese Hakka in it at all. It's usually nice and spicy too, but even the spice level was low and I am not sure why it was chilli shrimp to begin with. Try another Hakka place in the area and avoid this one! read more

Definitely one of my new go-to Hakka places in Brampton. I had been told many a time to come check this place out. I was not disappointed. I ordered some Chicken Pakoras and Dry Chilli Chicken. The Pakoras were some of my favourite. They were perfectly seasoned, and has just enough crunch to them. You won't break your jaws over them, and the chicken is tender. Some places I've been to, you really have to chew to get it down, but this place does it great. The Dry Chilli Chicken was great as well. I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of onions I got in my dish though. The chicken itself has been marinated and it boasts a lot of flavour. Pairs well with either rice (fried or steamed) or noodles. I've heard their Chicken Biryani is some of the best. So I will definitely be back to try it. Giving this place a 4/5 because for the price you pay, you're getting most of your money's worth. I think it's a little on the pricier side? And as far as ambiance, there was none. It's a small place on Van Kirk, but there's no decor, there's a TV that is on CP24 the whole time. Considering it's catered to more of a South Asian crowd, I would have liked to have seen some sort of decor. read more

This isn't authentic Hakka...the owners are Indian and the flavours don't sync up with what I'm generally used to. The food was more indian fused and it didn't have the kick you yearn for in Hakka. Ordered Manchurian shrimp fried rice (they use basmati rice, the colour was not red as the usual), chili chicken (watery), Manchurian chicken (dry, not bad), and the Hakka special noodle with chicken and shrimp (not so special, noodles sucked, meat was cubed up and dry). Overall, this was a womp womp womp story. Giving it 3 stars because the food was edible and I didn't get the runs ...but definitely not worth it. Having explored authentic hakka restaurants such as Lin Garden and Fredericks in Scarborough, which easily put this place to shame, I will not be returning. read more

We went here off of the recommendation from In-Brampton that rated this spot #1 in the city. I don't know what criteria they used for this rating who who bribed the reviewers but this was by far the worst Hakka we've ever had. We ordered Chilli chicken dry and Gobi Manchurian Dry(cauliflower). The chilli chicken didn't come with rice which is a standard at every other Hakka spot we've been to and wasn't even mentioned till after our order was ready. As we collected our order we were asked "Did you want rice?". Ridiculous! Both items were obscenely breaded. More than half of each dish was bread. Very little chicken was used. We've had chilli chicken from a number of different establishments throughout the GTA and this was a complete rip off. All filler and very little substance. Given that this order was to go, a vented styrofoam container would've been preferable to allow steam to escape and prevent the ridiculous amount of breading from becoming a soggy mess. The chilli chicken also did not resemble or taste like what everyone else prepares as a standard. It was more like sweet and sour than chilli. It wasn't even that spicy. We were so disappointed and dissatisfied with this experience that it's 2 days later since the experience and we're still so disgusted that a review had to be written. Just order recently... except the dry chilli chicken, all the other dishes were bland( tasteless) no taste at all chilli panner- was bland, chilli chicken with gravy was bland, kungpoa chicken was bland... veg manchurian was bland .... looks like the cook has changed, all the dishes were filled with green pepper and red onions (looks like only these 2 vegetables are used in all the dishes) we used to order from here on a regular basis but recently was highly disappointed... they need to look into ASAP read more

We've eaten here many times. The prices and portions are very good. Certain dishes are great and others are just ok. The chilli chicken has too much gravy but there's a pineapple chicken dish that is delicious. The service is always friendly and restaurant always clean. Food was okay, but sloppy practices ruin the experience. Usually Indian hakka caters to vegetarians and guddus even puts vegetarian dishes in green on the menu. Unfortunately when I got my Manchurian tofu home there was a giant piece of chicken in the mix. Gross. Luckily there was meat eaters around (who confirmed the obvious chicken) but come on! Hakka veggie noodles were average, pineapple veg fried rice was interesting, good quantity and not bad but more pineapple please. Manchurian tofu sauce was good but don't bread tofu, just deep fry it otherwise you end up with tofu with a slimy paste on it by the time you get home. Guddu's Chilli Chicken - a place with great food and customer service In our family if we take a vote on our favorite cuisine Hakka Chinese would be a clear winner (after Indian of course). Thus, when I saw the flyer for 'Guddu's Chilli Chicken' I wanted to immediately try it out, however the name made me reconsider as it conjured up an image of a chicken joint. However, my aunt stopped by the restaurant and got a menu and we discovered the place had a wide assortment of vegetarian dishes. As it was close to our home we thought we would check it out. We walked in and were greeted by the person behind the counter who turned out to be the owner of the restaurant. He had a friendly manner and we got talking and discovered a Delhi connection ;-). He was knowledgeable about each and every menu item and made great suggestions as well. Once we placed the order it took approx 20 mins to get it ready which seemed to fly by as the owner kept us engaged the whole time. We had decided to take the food home as had loads of boxes to unpack. We left after wishing the owner (Guddu) good night. As soon as we reached home we took out the food and were surprised that the portion sizes were so generous. The food looked delicious and as soon as we took a bite we became fans. We had ordered 'Vegetable fried rice', 'Gobhi Manchurian' and 'Lovely Gobhi'. Each of these dishes had the perfect taste, texture and spice level and reminded me of Hakka Chinese food I had growing up in India. The food was finger licking good and we became customers for life. It was 6 years back that I had first visited 'Guddu's Chilli Chicken' and since then not only me but my family & friends (Greater Toronto Area & Buffalo) swear by this restaurant. Our family has continued to get food from Guddu's for occasions ranging from birthdays, anniversaries to family get togethers. If you ask for my recommendation, then I would say do try their 'Vegetarian Fried Rice', ' Chilli Paneer', ' Gobhi Manchurian', ' Lovely Gobhi', ' Vegetarian Hakka Noodles',' Veggie Spring rolls',' Veggie Corn Soup', 'Szechuan Vegetarian Noodles', 'Szechuan Ginger Noodles' 'Kung Pao Tofu', 'Tofu with Mixed Veggie'. Actually almost any dish works and you can request them to adjust the spice level according to your taste too. They offer catering and also have great lunch specials. I would say if you are looking for a great Hakka Chinese restaurant in the Greater Toronto Area, then head over to Guddu's Chilli Chicken. They are located at Unit 3 - 205 Van Kirk Drive, Brampton, ON L7A 3V4 and they are open 7 days a week (Mon - Thurs from 11:30am - 9:30pm / Fri - 11:30pm - 10:30pm / Sat - 12:00pm - 10:30pm / Sun - 12:30pm - 10:30pm). There is ample parking in the plaza always. The restaurant does have a sit down facility however people prefer to usually order in and pick up from this restaurant. The staff (especially Mrs. & Mr. Guddu) are friendly and courteous and also knowledgeable about the menu. This restaurant receives 5 stars in SRM's book. read more
