They were a great crew and reasonably priced. I would recommend Maier and Dougherty to anyone who needs well repairs.

Don't be an M&D Cash Cow!…read more First, this review is not about M&D's well drilling or pump installations. It is about M&D's servicing of the "control" part of an existing water well, from electrical panel to well head. It is about an older, not particularly well maintained, single phase, three wire 1HP system. I was completely new to wells when moving into this property. Over the next six years, I had three out of water (OOW) experiences. In each case, the not so white knights of M&D came galloping to the rescue and restored water flow. Why isn't this a 5 star review with gushing praises? Because in each case the "fix" was to replace the POC contactor M&D had installed! Only a bandaid. No attempt or even a suggestion to improve the system to be more robust in the future. When questioned on the frequent contactor failures, the tech blamed the electric company. It took three contactor failures and a visit by a tech with training wheels before I had my Popeye moment (and yes I share blame for being so slow). At that time, the last POC contactor M&D installed was humming so loudly it could heard 150 feet away (no exageration). Never in any of these OOW service calls was any mention made of installing a basic surge protector (which only helps with a voltage spike) or better yet a device like a Littelfuse Pumpsaver (does high and low voltage - brownouts can kill your pump) and uses power factor monitoring which should work with any pump new or old. To not suggest one of these devices, IMO, is dishonesty, ignorance or both. M&D was fired from this property for this and several other issues I am omitting to keep the review from growing much longer. The problems all point to the reactive nature of M&D service, not a proactive approach - how do we make this system more reliable for the customer? How was the system made more reliable? 1) I installed a high quality Square D contactor in a new enclosure, not exactly NEMA3R but with some tweaks, pretty close. Gives the contactor much better protection from the elements. Dust and moisture are the two biggest enemies of an electromagnetic contactor. Replacing the old enclosure, which was in horrible condition, was another recommendation never made by the not so white knights. 2) I installed a Littelfuse Pumpsaver. Not cheap but neither are the inconveniences of an OOW and the vultures hoping for a weekend shot at your bank account. Not to mention it can literally live up to its name. Since making these changes, there have been no service calls for over 5 years. Not a record but over two times longer than the mean time to failure with M&D "servicing" the system. Don't be a cash cow for M&D. Should M&D suggest system improvements? Why when the vultures can just circle overhead until the next electric company induced contactor failure (or whatever) and rack up another OOW service call. Know how your system works (it is not rocket science) and be proactive! Don't trust M&D. They don't have your backs.

Aaron scheduled the work and arrived on site at the appointed time, a few weeks later. They drilled a 64 foot well on the spot, found water, coordinated with the County for inspection and we now have a brand new well to support our building project. Thank you Aaron for the quality of your work, the timeliness of the operaiton and leaving the site as if it had been undisturbed. Aaron is easily reachable on his cell phone and he responds to emails promptly. Communication was a breeze. I would work with him any time again and highly recommend his services!

A bit hard to get a hold of. Just be patient and he will call you back. I met up with Aaron and we walked my property. He pointed out several locations including the one he thought would be best. He is second generation and his knowledge, demeanor, and confidence are definately a plus. I witnessed his crew work on a neighbors property and they were very conciencious. I will hire them to drill my well with complete confidence based upon their experience and what I have seen.
