Our chimney had some water damage and we needed to find a company that would take it down to a certain level in order to mitigate the bricks that were damaged as well as have it be a certain height for the gas fireplace we were having installed to be properly vented out of. On of top of that we needed a chase pan built and placed on top to make sure no more water damage occurred. Guardian Chimney Solutions was able to tackle the job with no problem! Joseph was very responsive with all the questions we had and was able to walk us through the steps. He was able to fit us in to his busy schedule in order to make our timeline of getting the chimney work done before the gas fireplace went in. His team went above and beyond the day that they were here. The way in which our chimney was built made it very hard to deconstruct the crown at the top. The job took longer than they expected but they still stayed until they finished the job and were very kind and respectful to my family and neighbors as they worked. We just had our long-neglected chimney repaired from the roof line up to the top of the chimney. Guardian ground out the mortar around the entire chimney and rebuilt the top number of rows of brick with new brick and put a new cap on the top to replace the badly cracked cement cap that was there. The tuck-pointing that they performed on the chimney and another area above a door all looked well done. They completed the job in one day, in spite of a short downpour that halted their work. They cleaned up all evidence of their work afterwards and left our yard looking like they never were there. Joe, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. He did most of the brickwork himself and repaired a part of the chimney that was unexpectedly in bad condition without charge. He was clear in his communication with us in a written proposal and priced the job more reasonably than others. When rain was predicted on the original date of work he called and let us know he had to reschedule and rescheduled for the next day, showing up on time. Joe patiently distinguished himself from the other bids I entertained in that the other two operations suggested I do a complete teardown and rebuild (the easy option). Joe on the otherhand knew how important it was for me to have the integrity of the brickwork on the chimney and around the house to be integrated and authentic. He was more interested in doing it right even though my choice of pluck and replace and tuckpointing involved a higher level of difficulty on his crew. In March 2021, I reached out to Guardian Chimney Solutions for some help repairing our chimney. I also reach out to a few other companies. Guardian was the first to reply via email and offered to inspect the issues within the first week after contacting them. The others did not even respond. The owner came on-site, took pictures both inside and outside of the chimney. Then he thoroughly explained what needed to be repaired and send me a detailed estimate along with YouTube videos explaining our issues. I would definitely recommend this company. Joe and his assistant Jack were both very professional and polite. Joe sent jack out to do the initial review of the problem and they both communicated to me (and showed me pictures ) of the issue at hand, which is exactly what Joe suspected when I first talked to him on the phone. Guardian rebuilt our chimney from the roof-line up, installed a heat shield and damper, and completed other repairs to make it safe to use our fireplace again. The crew worked really hard, clearly having experience with a system to set up scaffolding on an uneven slope and a method to get buckets of debris down and new bricks and mortar up. And, they seemed to get along and work together really well. It was a long day that takes commitment and energy! Joe was very patient with our long decision making process, always responding in an amazingly timely manner. He also did a great job finding an assortment of brick colors to blend with the original. I called Joe and he came out and looked my chimney and provided me with a quote. He said that they could repair it but the problems would crop up again in a couple of years. I can't say enough wonderful things about Guardian. First of all, they RESPONDED, I was ignored by almost every other company I reached out to. After that, they continued to be responsive and so helpful as we worked to figure out the project. We had a problem with our chimney leaking and needed it to be torn down. Cannot recommend this company enough. They provided our chimney inspection and walked us through several pricing options to get our fireplace into safe, working condition. Repairs and construction took one day and the two employees on site were phenomenal. They maintained an extremely high level of safety and professionalism on a very windy day working about 35 feet in the air on scaffolding, which they erected and tore down. We had two chimney caps replaced, a new heat shield liner put in our flue and tuckpointing done in our main level fireplace. We knew we had some problems with our chimney, so we called three chimney service providers to get estimates. The estimates were all different with three different solutions to the problems and three different cost estimates. I called an urgent house chimney inspection last night (around 8:30pm) since today is the deadline to close house inspection and was able to get a quick turn around schedule this morning. Hunter (the owner's son) showed up early and performed the exterior inspection before I came. The crew came on time, about 6 workers, they conquered and cleaned up when done. GCS provides pictures of completed work, which was icing on the cake but should be considered the new standard. 5/5 stars! A great value, we got every penny worth out of the cost.
