What's the point in a trip of Belgium if you don't stuff your face with a waffle at some point?…read more
With this in mind, I demanded to be taken somewhere that was serving fresh waffles. Not that there's a shortage of these places, especially close to the old town where they have them sitting in their windows to entice people. It works too, often these places have queues out the door and down the street.
Anyway, after queueing here for only a short time I chose I waffle topped with strawberry sauce, whipped cream and fresh strawberries, while my partner (with an unexpectedly less sweet tooth) opted for a plain, sugar dusted waffle. We took a seat in the small cafe area in the back, but could just as easily taken them to go.
It was great. The fresh waffles here always are. Probably they could have gone easier on the strawberry sauce, but that's just personal preference. The waffle was delicious. I've been wondering if I can get a waffle iron and make my own ever since.
Oh, and if you're not feeling waffles they also do crepes, as well as juices and milkshakes.
