Amazing customer service. Gualala Building Supply is my new go-to whenever I have a home-repair question. I've called and visited in-person a number of times to ask about supplies and what time of year to undertake various projects. As a new homeowner, I am realizing that home ownership entails constant upkeep projects! Most recently, I needed firebricks to line my wood burning stove. When they did not have enough in store, Gualala Building Supply promptly ordered more and called me directly when they arrived. I appreciate their employees making themselves available for recommendations, as well as their follow through on orders! read more

Good helpful people. Great to have a building supply place here. They've got most of what I need.

We're just up here camping. And came into an emergency situation and needed something that basically didn't exist. Not only did Joe and Isaac go out of their way to help us but they also help us create the thing that we needed. And the really nice woman named Jody let me go to the bathroom no questions asked before my husband even came in the store. Such wonderful friendly people in this town. read more

Friendly, professional, and fast. Thank you Isaac for helping us with getting our project started.

Today I needed a tarp and line and looked for a hardware store in Gualala, CA, a tiny seaside town of 2,000 souls. While reading reviews I was taken aback at one review by a woman customer who encountered some disrespectful sexist male employees...she was rightly very unhappy. Management responded appropriately. Curious, I did my shopping there this morning. All female employees out front, excellent service and I was treated well. I highly recommend this store and it's management. read more

Lifesaver in the area. We'll-stocked TrueValue. Super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Went into the gbs looking for a special tool, asked for assistance from the the girls, very efficient and I was on my way back to work!!!

Isaac was really helpful in the yard. I needed a large quantity of high quality lumber and Isaac helped me look through the stockpile to find the best boards. He was very friendly and professional. He is truly an asset to Gualala Building Supply. Natalie was also great as a cashier. Delivery woman was also great. Prompt delivery, accurately filled. Highly recommend. read more

A negative experience. My wife and I have been visiting the Mendocino and Sonoma coast for the past 30 years and we have enjoyed or stays so much that we finally purchased a home on the coast 2 years ago. The ambiance along the coast and especially in Gualala had always been friendly, warm and inviting. ...until today. Upon my request of my lumber needs at Gualala Building Supply, I was instructed to simply go around to the lumber and saw area and relay my request to an attendant who would then write me a tag and begin to fulfill my request. The attendant was finishing up an order with another patron and when he was done, I approached him and told him my needs (a few 6ft sections of 2x4s). Standing right next to the power saw, his first response in an angry tone was, 'I ain't cutting anything for you!' I was at a lost for words and then he made a second statement in a patronizing manner, 'you've got to pay for things. That's how it works'. At that point I simply got back into my truck and made my way Sea Ranch Supply, who fulfilled my needs in an extremely helpful and friendly manner. I will not be returning to Gualala Building Supply. read more

Good service in the yard. I needed siding that I'd later cut into 4-foot segments for a fence replacement. The yard crew help sort through their stack of siding and pulled out the pieces that would add up to the total board feet needed. I also appreciated the itemized receipt on 8 1/2 by 11 paper that can be easily stored in my book of receipts. read more

Great service. Will order anything that I could need if not in their inventory. Nice to have a county hardware store that will serve our needs in this remote coastal environment. I have found the staff there to be very agreeable and willing to help whether you spend thousands of dollars or pennies. read more

Purchased over $1K in redwood lumber from this company and you'd think we had done something wrong by the way we were treated. Employee in backlot not helpful; got less than half the order because this employee mislead my worker into thinking the whole order was there after confirming with him four times- only got 100 linear feet of a 350 foot order. Called company to find out the story, asked for them to deliver balance of order, and got a "we're short-handed and can't get to it until next week" answer. Also ordered 30 bags of 60 pound ready mix which should have been forklifted onto truck but instead was left on ground so that my guys had to hand lift them. Mis-ordered a screen door, and attempted to return it for a credit but was told "the packaging was damaged" and they COULDN'T return it! Really? This store is owned by Healdsburg Lumber, so lumber comes from this mill by way of truck. Apparently this order had been sitting at Gualala Building Supply for awhile, as I had not received any phone calls to come pick it up. I was told they tried to call me three times but since they did not leave any messages I had no way of knowing my order was ready. Add up the entire transaction and you've got a retail company that does not know how to take care of their retail customers, and either does not care or know how to treat a customer fairly. We got neither a thank you for our business or an apology for screwing it up. This is the way many stores treat their customers in The Big City, so to experience it up here on the coast is pretty disappointing. read more

GBS good job!! I just felt the need to give the guys and gals at GBS a shout out. I have lived her my whole life and I shop here first! I am always greeted with a smile when I walk through the door and I always get a helpful hand by the yard crew. They all have awesome personalities and it appears they love working together. Fun and Family Feel Business!! I cant believe anyone could have a bad experience with this crew. Everyone has a bad day, but I have to admit I live here and shop there a lot and haven't seen it with this crew. I have NEVER had a bad experience. Thank You Raenie, Rikki, Matt, Joe and the rest of the crew for always treating me with respect and a "Happy" to serve attitude!! I make several trips to Santa Rosa and I would rather pay more to shop local with the "Local Vibe" than shop in town where you are just another "dollar". Keep up the good work!! read more
