I was told it would be $1300 to replace the whole charge. 2 days later my 8 year old son took a flashlight and found a pin stuck in the mechanism. He pulled it out with pliers. It took 5 minutes total. I called to tell them this and ask for my refund. I had to bring my car in so they could verify it was fixed. They verified it and was told I had to wait for the manager to get back from vacation to get my refund. 2 weeks later, no refund, no call. I called today and because it was a Saturday no one in accounting was there to process my refund. Now I'm spending my time calling and running around to fix their mistake. Also, the same thing happened to my friend's car, but his was a Lego. I guess they didn't learn from this mistake!

Since picking-up my car, I've taken the car in for servicing a defecting driver's side mirror twice, only to be ushered away without being seen by a service assistance, being made to feel stupid then angry. Upon visiting the second time even the service manager admitted it was defective and told the service assitant to order a whole new mirror. For eight days I played phone tag with the dealership, even though they knew I was a teacher and my availability. On my return messages I said when I could come for service (I live an hour away in MA). I was NEVER able to make contact to schedule the third visit to get the repair. I finally said I'm done and my last message said to cancel any future service, that I would no longer do business with the dealership. I then received a voicemail the next day.....while teaching, from the Service Manager, asking me to call him. Nope.....I'm done with New Country Lexus of Latham. I've put in writing to them that I want my 75,000 mile maintenance agreement cancelled and refunded, that if I had to pay out of pocket for my local Toyota dealership to do my servicing, then having this maintenance package was useless. I'm also considering just taking the loss and trading in the 7 month old car for the car I wanted originally (a Toyota Grand Highlander Max Platinum). I'll lose a bit in the process, but if this is how I feel after 8 months, I don't want to continue.

They do the work quickly, generally stand by it, and are friendly. The waiting room is large and clean with a great selection of drinks and comfortable chairs unlike other places that pack 40 people into an average living room. On top of that they have checked out basic issues for me without a cost, a light here, a piece of rubber there, and for this reason I continue to go to them. A good dealership should not nickel and dime you. If you have a Toyota, I would suggest this deal for warranty work, or if you are the type of person that wants the dealer to do everything. Even their prices on tires are fairly close to on-line places once you add in balancing and putting them on. I hate dealerships, but this one is at least passable, even when you are checking a car out, they don't immediately pounce on you, or at least it has not been my experience. The hourly work rate is about $60/hour if memory serves me right which is comparable or below other dealers.

I took my car in to my trusted local mechanic of 20 plus years this morning for an alignment, when they went to start the alignment they discover the left rear control arm had a broken bolt, so they couldnt start. I took a look at my warranty and suspension parts like this are covered, or so I thought. After a very rude conversation with service, I was told its not covered because there have "never" been failures of those parts not caused by inferior mechanics. Their final response, "you can bring it in and we will look at it, but we will see tool marks and not cover any repairs". So much for that amazing warranty. We had planned on replacing my wife's Kia with a second outlander in the spring, but after the conversation never again. My Outlander on has 37,500 miles, I am dreading the future.

The Bad: Sold me a car that was supposedly owned by an employee and taken good care of. I purchase the car only to find out that the touch screen is half dead. I cannot connect CarPlay, I cannot connect my phone via BlueTooth. I cannot change the sound settings other than the volume. Either the employee lied when he traded it in or the dealer lied when selling the car. Either way it is not a good look and either way I still don't have a working car.
