Been using them since 1994, got a quote on my Lexus that seemed way high. Checked the internet and yes the quote was above the highest costs quoted. Always liked them so went anyway. Also had a sound I wanted them to hear before i dropped it off. Then was told they were professionals and charged $169 diagnostic fee. I balked, he told me they don't work for free. I went to the local lexus dealer, got all the work done for less than my original quote from GT. They diagnosed the noise as a normal thing for FREE. AFter 32 years- I've moved on. Not going to pay more than a Lexus dealership to get my car worked on. read more

It is after a lot of time spent talking to GT Imports regarding my vehicle that I say this. I do not create this kind of review lightly. I took my car to GT Imports for one specific problem. It was hard to start when cold and needed multiple crankings to stay running. Then ran unstable for about a minute, then it would even out and run good. It would run great after that and would start fine after it was warmed up. A bad fuel pump was the assumption. They ran tests and confirmed the fuel pump was bad and needed replacing. He also informed me it needed new spark plugs, spark plug wires, brake master cylinder and brake booster. I told him the spark plugs had just been replaced a month before, but he insisted only a specific brand of plug would bring my car to its factory setting. I agreed to all the repairs since I wanted the car to be running as good as possible. The 1st fuel pump that he put on was DOA and would not work. A 2nd pump was ordered and installed. This took a couple weeks. Picked the car up and the original problem was still going on, but a little improved. He recommended replacing all fuel injectors and doing a fuel system cleanout to further address the problem. I agreed wanting the problem fixed completely. After these 2 repairs were made, I picked the car up and drove off. After driving for 20 minutes, the car went dead and would not start up easily. It ran unstable and seemed to be flooded. I got it back to GT Imports within an hour of picking it up. They checked it out and found the new injectors were malfunctioning feeding too much fuel. So they were replaced again and charged me a 2nd time! I have over $4000.00 invested in the car thru GT Imports. The car is still running poorly after all this work and they have now diagnosed something completely new. I will take my car to a new garage for repairs. read more

GT Imports has been servicing and repairing my Honda Accord and now, my Honda Fit. Their expertise is beyond compare. They have kept my cars running very well for 25 years. I would never go to any other dealer/repair shop. They are honest and cost-effective. Also quite polite and knowledgeable. John, the owner, is especially involved in running the business. I had 2 separate situations arise with my 2006 Toyota Tundra. 1. I had a universal joint in my drive shaft going out. I took it to them and the said I needed an entire new drive shaft for $1500. I asked them what was wrong with the drive shaft and they said they do not replace universal joints as it is not the recommended solution. Had it fixed somewhere else for less than $400 where all three U Joints replaced as well as the drive shaft hanger since it's a 2 piece drive shaft. 2. Had an oil change and it was recommended that I needed a new power steering unit to the tune of $1800 because it was leaking. I had need seen any leaks or had any need to add fluid so didn't have it done. Here we are 2 years later and I have not had to add any power steering fluid or had any leaks at all. This place will recommend work that does not need to be done and if minor work is required will make it like it's 3 times worse. Any shop that cannot do a simple U-Joint replacement and wants to sell and replace a whole new drive shaft is unethical and ripping people off. Do not take your vehicle there, you will be better off going to a high priced dealership for repairs. I am sure they will have all sorts of excuses to this review when in reality their is no excuse for ripping people off. read more

After all, they prevented me from purchasing a car with sawdust in the engine! That's a win for me! I found GT imports through a friend I read great reviews I did not find it comforting when I had asked them to address key issues and I was charged just labor to completely inspect the entire car leaving those concerns un-tended. Even though I had my 8000 $ estimate for repairs I got an abridged charge which is in my perspective sneaky. Overall I'm happy with the information but when you bring in a vehicle with electrical issues and you get a receipt full of parts problems and the electrical issues were not even attempted like changing headlamps? My feeling is this garage has been recently acquired and is taking the flow Hondas runoff on the frontage. read more

I had heard good things about this shop, and had purchased a used Honda from a private seller who had the car serviced here. We had some repairs we wanted done after we bought the car and wanted to have them done here since they had history and we aren't fans of Flow Honda. Unfortunately after a couple times trying to get in touch with them to schedule the repairs, they told us they wouldn't work on the car because it was too old ('97 Honda Prelude). Apparently they've had issues with older cars being difficult to repair and costing them money. Our car is super clean and had less than 100k miles on it which is unheard of for a 97 Prelude, and we just wanted routine work done that shouldn't have been that difficult. I'm sure they do good work, but it's disappointing to not even have a chance for them to do it, and to have to take it to the big shop in town instead of supporting this one. read more

Do not do business with this shop. They will do everything they can to get out of their "warranty". They took almost 3 months to complete the repair. They Tried to say we were at fault. I took my car there 3 times for the same problem before another shop told me what the problem was. A blown head gasket, the same problem they "fixed" a few months earlier. All of the parts that were blamed for the issue were parts they installed. They never even ran the car to see if in fact that what I told them was true or not. How can you charge a diagnostic fee when you won't even run the car. How can you say what is wrong with a car when you won't run the car. A lot of money was spent with this shop. Not sour grapes. This shop is just crooked. Go to a dealer. They are probably cheaper also. Probably will honor warranty work. read more

This review is not only documenting a bad customer experience, but also includes recommendations to keep other customers from having this experience. I do not like calling out someone else's problems unless I can give a potential solution. Had a vehicle with 35% window tint on door windows/rear glass. GT Imports failed the state inspection only because of "30%" tint. After paying $40 I showed them the invoice from the time I bought the window tint and had it professionally installed over 2 years ago from a reputable shop. They did not believe my invoice was legitimate/correctly documented for the tint installed on my vehicle. The service technician told me the tool he has could have low batteries but that is the only way they can test it that is trustworthy for them. He also told me "if we could find some batteries" we could test again with new batteries in the device, but did not get new batteries for a second test. I said there must be a better way to prove to you it is NCDOT legal in every way. Technician assured me he has been inspecting cars for over 20 years and knows how to do it properly. He also stated he cannot assume the risk of passing a non NCDOT-approved vehicle because of fines, shutdowns etc. I fully understood the situation and simply wanted to prove it was legal in all aspects so I could be passed. The GT Imports technician told me the only other option for me to get passed by GT Imports is to go to another shop and take a picture of their device with a NCDOT-approved tint measurement (that means 32% or more). The other shop was the only other shop they trusted according to receptionist. I did exactly as told, and got a photo and a verbal confirmation from the different shop that my tint was perfectly legal (37%). Took my car back to GT Imports. Receptionist stated they must inspect the car again. I said, with this photo as proof are you guaranteed to pass the car now? GT Imports receptionist said he/she cannot guarantee that it will pass and they will have to take my car to the same other shop to verify my photo of their tint meter is telling the truth. In other words, telling me to go there to get it tested by someone else must have been a funny prank to pull on me, since they still didn't believe the photo they instructed me to take. When I brought this to the receptionists' attention, they simply blamed the technician. The receptionist instructed me to leave my car for a second inspection. Receptionist tells me "we can't let you con us into passing your car" after I ask if they understand that this is frustrating, since I am wasting valuable time from my own place of business. A few minutes after leaving I get a call from GT Imports saying my car has passed. I did not get the slightest explanation or even an apology for all the time/gas/money I have wasted because of GT Imports' poor ability to measure window tint translucency. This all happened within a 24-hr period, during my working hours. I was also given a large list of maintenance items (over $2400) recommended for my car. I asked "how do you figure?" about the list, and was told "we just go by the mileage." That's very nice that I was informed of any possible maintenance needed, but I did not ask for this report, and find it a useless business practice when I can just look at the manufacturer's shop/service repair manual. Maybe the shop was just fishing for any extra work, and that is fine, but after they knew I had a bad experience over their own faulty equipment I see what may be their standard procedure to be an insult (insinuating I do not know what my car needs after the employee did not know what his/her inspection report needed). If you are going to simply regurgitate to me the manufacturer's maintenance schedule based on mileage, then why were so many items not on the list? What happened to the other items that the MFG recommends at my mileage that were excluded from the list I was given? Based on this, I can only assume that these are GT Imports' recommendations, not by the car's manufacturer. If followed closely without a doubt, they surely would have left many important items out on my vehicle. I would think if I was the person delivering this list of recommendations, I would at the very least ensure my list is comprehensive. The worst part about that list is that every single line item has already been completed by a reputable shop in the past 6 months. If I had been obtuse enough to agree to authorize that repair work, I would literally be burning my own money for nothing. (over $2,400). (shop is aiming for the easy money work it appears, and not what is actually needed) If any business administrator see this, my recommendation is to provide a second tint meter, spare batteries, and replace if necessary so that other potentially new or even lifetime customers do not have to go through the same experience I have. read more

I wrote a review a week ago for the poor way in which GT Imports went about taking care of me for a car repair. John, the owner, called me and was so apologetic for the experience, was thankful for the review, and wanted to fix the issue. He went above and beyond to change my experience to a positive one. They did the repair for which I had initially brought the car in and said if there were any issues to just bring it back and they would take care of it. I never thought anyone would even look at the review but am thankful I wrote it. How is a business supposed to know when things go wrong if it isn't brought to their attention... I now am looking forward to a long and trusting relationship in the future with GT Imports. Thank you for caring, GT Imports (and especially John), not only for caring about your company but your customers and, even more impressive, your employees. That is huge in this day and age. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Fast, courteous, and trustworthy. Chuck went over and beyond to get a part and install it quickly so we could drive to back to TN. We live in Memphis, TN and visit my mother-in-law in Winston-Salem twice a year. This summer when driving in our 2008 Honda Odyssey, our car started making a sound like a motorcycle. I took my car to GT Imports to have the brakes inspected. While there I requested a diagnostic test be run. After I dropped the car off I remembered that the registration is due this month so I called back to ask them to do an inspection. GT Imports knowing the car had an issue with one of the items on the registration inspection (from running the diagnostic test) still did the inspection and failed it. I am shocked at the lack of integrity! I truly do not know how anyone would do this to someone. Blows my mind, but I guess there are people lacking good character willing to do unjust things to make a few dollars. Sad, really. It was an easy way to take advantage of a repeat customer to make $23. On a side note, that was $10 more than I have ever spent for an inspection. That is on me; I should have asked, but I had two other cars at two different places over the last couple weeks inspected so I assumed the price was the same everywhere for a state inspection. Why would you take advantage of a customer and do the inspection when you already know from the diagnostic test (that the customer paid you to run) would have an item on it that would cause the car to fail inspection? When I spoke to John he argued for a bit, but then said he guesses you can't please everyone. You definitely can't please everyone, but you can choose to make the morally right decision and do the right thing by everyone. That is a choice. Excellent place to have your Honda/Acura worked on. I have a 2005 TSX. They are always honest about what needs to be done, what can wait and what you shouldn't bother with. Once I asked about having a $500 repair done and John said that he would do it if I thought I wanted it done, but he wouldn't spend the money as it may never cause any problems and if it does, there are no safety issues or anything it could mess up that would cost any more. He could have easily said "Sure, Ill take your $500" My only wish now is that they worked on Lexus since I have an RX as well! read more

They only deal with Hondas as far as I know but they are very helpful whenever the dealership makes my wife upset or quotes ridiculous prices on her Honda. GT has never been anything but fair and helpful. I have always heard good things but was very pleased when we went there. They have a reputation of being honest which is really important in the car business. They quoted about $1000 less than the dealership to replace a transmission (we still went to dealership because warranty covered part of it). We are going to start going there more instead of the dealership once the warranty is totally out. It is right off the highway in Clemmons, you can get lost though without a GPS or good directions so call ahead as it is a bit confusing off the exit. read more

I have been customer of GT for well over 15yrs. Recently decided to trade in my 2009 Acura MDX. I test drove a couple of different makes of SUV's. I settled on 2019 Acura RDX. It's a fantastic car BUT one of the driving forces for me to stick with Acura was because I could continue to use GT Imports for service and repairs. Their customer service is the best I have ever had in the 45+ years of owning cars. I trust what they tell me is going on with car. Given that cars have so much more advanced technology than in past years you have got to be able to trust your car mechanic is KNOWLEDGEABLE and HONEST. I had a great experience with GT Imports Limited. I called in advance for an appointment and spoke with Daryl. Based on the information he provided, he said it would be best to drop the vehicle off the evening before so that they could more easily replicate the issue the next morning. Later the next day, Daryl called me to let me know what he felt was going on with my Honda Pilot and recommended a solution. Daryl is very patient and a good listener. I have no doubt that Daryl is very knowledgable about Honda and Acura vehicles and it would be easy for him to talk over the customer given his knowledge, but no, he listened. Daryl is a huge asset to this business and the reason I will be back and I will bring my wife's car also. This business stands out amongst the local dealerships. There was no pushy selling or scare tactics to try to get me to have service performed that may not be needed, rather, even though I opened the door for Daryl to do whatever was needed to make my auto run as good as new, he was cautious in performing service that may not be needed. I love this place! I have a '98 Honda Accord, and the folks at GT Imports help me keep it in good shape. These are the only folks that I let touch my car. They made some recommendations of things to keep my car running well, but they were honest in saying that the work didn't need to be done "right now."
