I took the blame for that because I didn't inspect the painting properly when I picked it up (it was behind a plastic cover so it wasn't super easy to tell)-- otherwise I would have declined the charge. Luckily I had only paid ~$35 for it. More recently, I purchased another oil painting for $55; there were several in the lot by the same artist, so I felt comfortable bidding on the painting, and I knew to inspect the painting in person before accepting it. When I picked up the painting, it was indeed a real painting, I could see the paint textures and it looked as expected. On the drive home from the BRG warehouse, I noticed the painting was actually a print that someone had painted over randomly with real paint. In the daylight, it was clear that the background canvas was pixelated, and someone had covered up a lot of the print with real paint, and then signed the artist's name at the bottom. I hadn't noticed this when I picked up the painting because the inspection area under the awning was poorly lit. So, I guess I can blame myself for not giving these paintings a more thorough inspection, but I can also place some blame on BRG for misrepresenting these paintings (either purposefully or by not having a more rigorous process for the descriptions of these lots). And for those reasons, I can no longer purchase anything through BRG. I won another painting last year, which I believe is real, and that is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Also, the website and pickup process work reasonably well.

Gayle Cooke, the owner of Triangle Senior Moving Services, LLC., preys on elderly people who need…read morehelp with moving. She claims to specialize in organization and downsizing for seniors. Her rules are that adult children aren't allowed to be part of their parent's/parents' moving process and that she has to be in control of every aspect of the move. This might sound desirable at first, but these are the key strategies used in her scam, which includes looking very busy and professional (name tags!) while not getting the job done. She hires unprofessional/unvetted men (no affiliation with a licensed moving company) to physically move things in a truck, and then overcharges her clients for their work. When you press her for details about what she's doing or why, how much things will cost, how many hours she's racked up, what her plans are, what times/dates she plans to do things... or hold her accountable in any way for her mistakes she gets extremely defensive, threatens to quit the job immediately, and/or makes up lies to placate you or divert your attention elsewhere. The more desperate you are for help, the more at risk you are for losing thousands of dollars as you're bullied and intimidated into paying her outrageous fees. She says she's giving you the high end of an estimate when she finally gives you a ballpark price, but that number is likely what she wants to charge you in the end. So, you can expect her to rack up those hours by "performing" in a purposefully inefficient and disorganized manner. Gayle's helpful persona is deceiving; I share this as a warning for anyone considering her services--young or old.
