In addition, as I was finally escaping away for a short vacation for the first time in years, they very kindly agreed to keep the desk and stool safe for me until I return next week to pick them up. I thot that was immensely kind of them. Their premises are neat and tidy, parking is comfortable and well-lit, the office is clean and well-organized and so is the shop. The people who work there are also very professional. No bare bellies, scraggly beards, or saggy jeans here! Their paperwork is easy to read, forthright, and up to date. I would have no difficulty entrusting my things to them for excellent repairs. I have been treated so nicely by them, even tho I can't afford them. Imagine my horror and disappointment when I open and find it damaged in shipment! Luckily the honest seller refunded my money and I set out to find someone who would repair it. I found most antique places want bigger jobs, bigger furniture. When I found Jeff Johnson's website and read the reviews I thought.... I have nothing to lose.... Flash forward to the after photos (I uploaded so you can see for yourself) and it is beautifully restored. Not only is the chip fixed but he refinished everything so it looks better that ever. I would not hesitate to bring even my most prized antique to Jeff. Quality work, fast. tips - he seems to communicate best via email. This works for me but heads up if you are used to a voice on the phone. he has an arrangement with another company so that if he is out of the office you can leave things or pick up things. This is super convenient but struck me as a little odd. I guess I am just a cynical transplant from the north and I worried about security but it seems to be de rigueur here so I guess I just need to chill out and adjust! The BMW E39 5 series never came equipped with BMW's "cinnamon" interior- only European examples received it. Well, I somehow got my hands on a 2003 525iT wagon that had this exclusive "BMW Individual" Cinnamon interior- possibly the only one in the country. I currently have a 2000 528iT in alpine white that I'm rebuilding from the ground up and this was my ideal interior to swap in. Though it was rare, it was also very beat up (15yrs and 195k miles would do that). The front seat had the most wear. As you can see in the photos (check Google reviews for the photos unless), the front thigh bolster had some huge rips in it and the black threading (which looks fantastic against the cinnamon interior) was wearing/getting dirty. In addition, there was massive wear in the side bolsters. Also, the driver's side door panel was very worn. I was concerned this wasn't salvageable and that I was back to square one with my build. This is where Brian came in. When he saw my seat, he laid out what he could do and what he couldn't. Every good salesperson understands the importance of managing expectations. Brian did just did- but managed to exceed what I thought could be done to restore these super old seat. My seat looks like new, has that "new leather feel," and the door card looks just like it came out of the factory back in 2003! Special note on the door panel- Brian noticed the special black stitching and didn't just spray over it carelessly. Wanting to keep the original look and protect its exclusivity, he took the time to hand paint it with extreme attention to detail and it shows! It looks perfect. I'm extremely excited to install all the new interior into my car and drive one of my "dream builds." It's all thanks to Brian that I get to experience it "how it was" back in its former days of glory. If you're in the Triangle and looking for leather/vinyl restoration, give Brian a call. On the day of service, Pater and Mark called to see if they can come earlier due to weather. They arrived on time and explained the whole treatment process to before doing the work. I was a little cautious as the leather is a Porsche tan color seat and worried of discoloration. They basically removed the stain spot and also repaired a worn out area of the center console where the material was 'peeling'. The process was actually quick and took about an hour.
