I couldn't be happier. Had a clog in my tub, mainly due to my cat throwing things down the drain, and gave Grumpy's a call. I got a call back within 45 minutes APOLOGIZING for not calling me back sooner. And an appointment the next morning at 9 am. (It was already 3 pm that day.) Both the woman on the phone, and the man who came out to do the work (husband and wife) were efficient and helpful, the work was done quickly, and he even showed me how to pull some parts off my tub and take a look myself next time so I don't have to call him. I honestly don't know what unclogging a drain costs, but Grumpy's charges a flat rate to "get it done" however long it takes. Knowing the cost up front made this far more pleasant for me. read more

I was really pleased with their service. I called to schedule and appointment early in the morning, and they were able to come out that same day - in fact they came 2 hours after I had made the call. The technician really knew what he was doing and fixed the blockage quickly and ran my water for awhile to make sure it was all clear (which I totally appreciated). They were really well priced, it was a fixed rate. I had called other plumbers in the area, and either they didn't have time in their schedules until next week, or they had to come out to assess the situation before doing anything, but the ending costs would have been close to $300, which I was not about to pay. Another plumber referred me to them after he replaced a utility sink. The drain to the sink was clogged and my plumber didn't have drain clearing tools. They quoted me a fixed price of $178 to clear the drain and came out on time a couple of days later. You can obviously find less expensive services but I was in a hurry to get this done so went with the plumber's recommendation so I have no complaints about paying a premium. read more

Wow! Where to start? Chronologically I guess. Grumpy's was quick to respond to my request to clear our kitchen drains - same day response (that was impressive). They gave me a noon to 3 pm arrival window and said they would call 15 minutes before arriving so I could leave work and let them inside. About 1:30 I had not received a call, but decided To go home and wait. Good idea - their truck was parked in front of my house when I arrived home. The tech was a very friendly, polite and nice guy (I was I impressed!). He accurately concluded the blockage was in the line between the sink and the main sewer line. He up sold me on jetting the line instead of snaking ($315 instead of $180) and loosened a rubber coupler to the sewer line running horizontally across the basement ceiling - sewage ran from the pipe, down the basement wall, around the roughed in window frame, splattered on the freezer and a shelf of packaged food, pooling on the floor. Gross and smelly. The tech attempted to catch sewage in a bucket - maybe 75% successful, but still sewage running out all over the wall etc. He moved a stored coffee maker, dropping the glass carafe and breaking it. He was genuinely apologetic throughout this fiasco. After the sewage had quit flowing, he jetted the line saying he could hear the blockage release at an elbow and the job was done. I asked if the blockage might just move downstream and get caught at another joint before the larger sewer pipe. He reassured me it would not happen (spoiler alert!) - he was wrong. He left and I proceeded to begin to cleanup the disgusting mess in our basement. I did, however, start the dishwasher before starting with the cleanup. About 20 minutes later the dishwasher began to pump out the first wash cycle water. Yes, the dishwasher drain line is connected the sink drain. As it turns out, the blockage moved to a very low point in the line (just before the main sewer line) and the dishwasher water and other crud in the line shot out of the washing machine drain, soaking a wood wall and pouring out sewage across the floor on the other side of the basement. I called Grumpy's Drain and they sent the tech back (after 5) and he cleared out the blockage and my drains wear finally working properly. He apologized, said I would not have to pay for the service and I would get a call the next day from the office to confirm this. I never got a call about the charges or a call to apologize. My family (wife, 2 kids and me) spent several hours cleaning up the disgusting mess, bought extra cleaning supplies $20) and finally, exhausted, went out to eat dinner ($90) at 8 pm after showering. What Grump's should have done after creating this problem was: Cleaned up or helped to cleanup the worst of the mess; hired a cleaner to do a thorough cleaning; and had the owner call me to apologize and make sure we were okay. Oh, and finally, paid for our dinner out (the cleaning supplies will get used). Mistakes happen, and I understand that. But to basically just cut their losses and move on without taking care of the customer was just plain crummy and wrong. Given my experience, I suggest you might consider another option for drain clearing. read more

I'm feeling just a bit grumpy about my drain cleaning today. With all the Yelp "5-Star ratings" and glowing testimonials, I gave GRUMPY's DRAINS a call to clear my sewer line today. I explained the problem carefully to the office lady, who seemed rushed to just get my name and address and send out a service technician. Keith arrived ahead of schedule (great with me). But, when I explained the situation to him -- the over-the-phone estimate of $115 immediately grew to $211. Keith did find roots in the line, the cause of the problem. He showed me a clump of roots he said he cut out of the sewer line. And, he claimed to run the TV camera "scope" down the line -- but although I was working in my office 10 feet away, made no offer to show me that the line was now clean. I take him at his word; that he looked and it was clean. Then, he pitched a Root Killer application -- injecting a foam in the sewer line for another $145.00 to keep the roots from growing back -- but for only a year. I can expect to pay at least $145 a year in the future to kill 'em back Well, who the heck wants nasty roots growing back in their sewer line? I bit. He cleaned up the work area well, and I paid the invoice by check: I had to, they don't take DISCOVER, only take VISA or MASTERCARD -- no others. Removing a clump of roots just outside my home ended up costing $356.00. Let me be clear: Keith DID check in with me on the "ups and extras" in advance of providing treatment. It does seem he did a good job (must let the root killer work for several hours) so I can't flush and try it out). But get ready to pay more than the low-ball price, quoted on the phone. read more

Grumpy's had great reviews on Angie's List and another company referred me to them as an excellent company for clogged drains, which is exactly what I had. After waiting nearly two months, and trying every possible home-remedy on the internet, I gave in and decided we needed to call a plumber to fix the clog in our guest bathroom toilet. As a first time homeowner I always seem to assume that calling anyone, to fix anything, is going to cost me a fortune. I was silly to wait to so long in retrospect because after I called Grumpy's they were there two days later (a little ahead of the scheduled time) and had my toilet fixed up and ready to go all for a very cheap price (as quoted over the phone). I was warned there could be an additional charge, but apparently my toilet didn't need more than expected. What brought the quality of service over-the-top was that the man who fixed my clog also told me what caused the clog and how to avoid it in the future - which was so appreciated! Apparently my expensive toilet paper is to "fancy" for my cheap toilet and old pipes so he recommended I either (1) buy a new toilet or (2) use cheap toilet paper. So far I haven't done either, but if my toilet clogs again at least I'll know why.... read more

Scheduling was super easy. The plumber called to see if he could come a couple hours early. I wasn't available and he was understanding. He was running a little behind due to traffic and called to let me know. Both the people who came where very friendly and polite. They fixed my tub even though I could tell it was a challenging job. My only complaint was they left a bit of sludge on my bathroom walls, bathroom floor, bathtub, and floor just outside the bathroom. I would use them again, as well as recommend them, but ask first is it's customary to clean up after they are done. read more

Grumpy's was able to come to my house within a day to remove a toy phone from the drain that my child had flushed. Conner showed up and was really friendly and quick with the removal. They provided me a quite before arriving and stuck with that quote, unlike some places who told me that couldn't give me a quote without being on-site first. If you use Grumpy's service it will be you who is grumpy. I had them come in September to clean my drains. Soon thereafter it rained and the drains were plugged again. I thought perhaps it was my fault because some moss was left in the drains when I had the roof cleaned. That was not the case. I called them again, but this time I observed their attempt to blow the drain out. Their technician, the same one who performed the first service, could not even get his equipment down the drain where there are 90 degree turns. He tried for 30 minutes and could not perform the service. Now I was confronted with digging up the line and finding the obstruction myself. It took significant time, but it did find the problem and it was extensive. Years of fir needles were compacted in the pipe right before it entered the drain field. When confronting Rita at Grumpy's she assures me that the drain was clean in September. That was impossible. I observed that they could not even get their equipment to the site of the clog and when I removed it the blockage was extensive. Advise - save yourself the aggravation and use someone more trustworthy and honorable. read more

Absolute rip-off! They told us the could remove to large size root balls from our sewer. They came out and ran a small probe of sorts to clear the roots. We had two problem areas. The first was at 25ft the second at 35 feet. Unfortunately, he did not clear either root issue and told us it was due to the fact that we didn't use his Root-X root killer (Up-sell). The neglect and mishandling of the job lost us the buyer for our property. We even sent him the buyers video showing that both root issues were still intact. This place has no conscience and should have refunded our money immediately. SHAME on you GRUMPY'S Drains!!!. After a wild rain storm last night we woke up to some muddy sludge coming up from our floor drain in the laundry room. I tried calling a couple of other companies but they didn't answer the phone. Tried Grumpy's and the woman picked right up. She was so polite and patient, was very reassuring when I explained the problem. I called Grumpy's at 9:00 this morning, they were at my house fixing the problem before 10 o'clock! Wow! While this was probably just luck, it sure was awesome. Secondly, the prices were exactly what they said on the website, which took a lot of pressure off me. You know how when someone is billing you hourly, you never know what you're going to get? Here is the experience I had today.... im quite upset so excuse and lack of diplomacy, its not deserved.I just spent 1hr and 30 minutes or more bleaching and cleaning fecal matter, toilet paper, water and a trail left by their jet-line on the carpet. and there is more to do. why no drop cloths? why no preemptive measures to make sure things like rugs, shoes, and other objects in the way would not get shit on them? how is this even okay? There is no excuse, none. If you arent able to be sanitary and or clean up with sanitary standards you shouldnt be doing the job. If you know that there is potential for a situation that you are unequipped to deal with then you shouldnt do the job. Not very happy with the service result from Grumpy's drains. The technician was very nice and pleasant (albeit 30 minutes late to the appt) but I gave him a pass on that. Being that my husband and I just bought our house we weren't super familiar with what was a drain and what wasn't so I asked him to unclog one outside drain for sure and look at 2 interior ones that looked like they drained as there was water pooling there. He blew out the outside drain and that is draining now. But he looked at the two interior ones and ran a cable through to see if they were connecting to the water mains and accessed that they were not in fact drains at all but just floor plugs. They wanted to charge me for those drains as well. I told them that was ridiculous that I would be charged for a service that was unclogging them when in fact all he did was verify they weren't drains. When the office manager called to collect payment I contended that fact and she contended that they did provide a service as I "now know more about those drains than I did before". We ended up splitting the difference of the quoted price to unclog the drain but I still ended up feeling ripped off. Bottom line - unless you KNOW it's a drain and you KNOW it needs to be unclogged, then don't have them even look at anything else because they are charging a premium for knowledge I could've gotten for free from someone else. THE BEST!! I have had a complete blockage in my pipes for 4 days. I am a single Dad of two young boys so this has been a terrible time for us. I had another plumbing Company out to inspect and fix the problem. They informed me that my main sewer line had collapsed and I would have to pay $15,000 to $16,000 to fix it!! Perhaps the least appropriate name in business. Grumpy arrived on a Sunday morning and was as ungrumpy as it gets. He even let me look over his shoulder and explained exactly what was wrong so I could deal with it in the future. Then he did a free camera examination of our main line. When all was said and done he charged considerably less than I had been quoted on the phone the previous day and half of what another quoted as a "dispatch fee."
