I am so pleased that Gruman's has opened a new location close to home! The Reuben and Latkes are delicious and well worth the price. You can taste the value of the ingredients in the sandwich, compared to other deli's in the city. HIGHLY recommend. I think a couple of the reviews on here are from customers who don't necessarily understand the concept of the new Gruman's location. This location is meant to be a delicatessen, not a restaurant. So if you're expecting table service- the downtown location is more your pace. However, the employees at Britannia are super accommodating for dine in and are always cleaning up tables for the next customers. If you're expecting fabulous food for take out, or to have a casual "no frills" lunch- the Britannia location is a great location with quality prepared meals and sandwiches, soups, etc. I have been greeted warmly and professionally by the employees and owner of the establishment, every time I have been in - I have never had issue with any "attitude" that has been described in past reviews (rants).

    Review Highlights - Grumans

Having been to Gruman's before, I wasn't expecting the Dagwood-style sammies of New York Deli's.

Picked up a couple sweets and croissants from here. The croissants are colorful and filled, which…read moreis appreciated from both an aesthetic and taste perspective. There's some seating inside and a couple small tables outside; casual place. Most people seem to get their orders to go.

Subs 'n' Bubbles - Beef Sate Sub (no cucumber by request) there is Beef in there, in my opinion for $10.25 could use a bit more Meat.

I remember when they were running these Subs out of Midnapore, and I discovered them, going through the Sub Menu. Every other restaurants sub was compared to Subs 'n' Bubbles!! Now, finding my self hungry after a D & D game and only a two minute drive from S 'n' B I decided to visit them at the Vision Center. (It over looks the sports areas, depending where you sit). I ordered to go, the staff were friendly, the order was quick. I had ordered the Beef sate sub no cucumber (and lo and behold it had no cucumber!!). You would be surprised at how many times I have ordered the above and gotten cucumber! So excellent attention to detail there. I also got the appetizer Goyza. Got the order paid and went home. Ok the sub was tasty, not as good as I remembered, and for the $11 price, I thought it was a little stingy on the topping and meat. You can pay $3 for extra meat, $1.50 for cheese. The Goyza was $14 I counted 10. These were some of the best Goyza I have had, even after a 15 min drive home the crispy bottoms were crunch and the top soft. Excellent flavour and even better with the dipping sauce. My wife had a couple and really enjoyed them. She was even looking for them the next day for lunch (ha ha). Now I listed the prices here for one good reason, it's no surprise, you can see it on their website. It is a cost difference for lunch and dinner for the same items. Goyza is $8.95 for lunch $13.95 for dinner. Subs are $8.95 for lunch $10.25 for dinner. So if you want to save some money, lunch is definitely cheaper. I plane to return there one day and try the lunch there. Also for you Beer Heads, they have a Suns 'n' Bubbles beer on tap, will definitely report back on that. Since this is at a sports complex, parking can be very hard, though you can now park in the parking lot north of the complex. South now has signs up warning about towing vehicles.

What was really awesome though, was the homemade gyoza. Un-Freaking-Believable. On top of the order for subs, we ordered two of the ten piece orders of the gyoza and they were, by far, some of the best gyoza we have ever purchased!!! If you are in the neighborhood, or if you're willing to drive for some of the best gyoza in town, this is where you should be going!!

Although I've had tastier brisket, this offering is very good and well worth the $13 for a large sandwich with a side of baked beans, and as you wish, many other compatible sides. The brisket is tender and quite flavourful, and the beans are full-bodied with lots of molasses and onions. Yummy.
