Good menu for a hotel restaurant/café. Covers all the proteins, theres something to interest…read morepretty much everyone. Gluten Free options are available, and the servers seem aware. The gluten free bread is a good bread but in the spring was priced at $4.95. I'm happy to report good news! On my most recent September 2015 visit it's now only $1.95 extra! Better deal. Reminder to self: ask for burger with a little less char - ordered one (the B&B&M) my spring visit. Could have been because it was really late that night. :) Stuff happens. Dining this time in the Café was reliable and gluten free available. The gluten free bread is nutty, seedy and tasty, I had a BLT for supper and the eggs, toast & bacon for breakfast. Fastest breakfast ever - literally 2 minutes. Going in at 10:45, 15 minutes before they stop serving breakfast when it's not busy is ideal! Perfect basted eggs. Bacon wasn't cooked fresh to order, but in a hotel that size, understandable. Next time I'll ask them to crisp it up a bit. Last visit in June, of course I dined at the restaurant. Lovely, friendly staff, ordered wine & a tortilla soup - without the tortillas, apparently they use flour not traditional corn, and they were helpful and concerned with my gluten-free needs. Note to the wise: soup was HOT. Spicy and the temperature kind of hot - burnt my mouth. (Oops.) I'm guessing they pass the food safety inspection there. Get the sour cream if you order the soup - ai Chihuahua! I like it spicy, and the chilli/chipotle bite was there. Meaty, almost stew like. I took the leftovers home, snack for supper next day! It was good value for the money. Gluten free desserts now! Two GF cheesecakes - Turtle (looked awesome) and strawberry. I had no room, and forgot to order it to go the next day. :( Oh, and did you know you can take the rest of your glass of wine up to your room? Yup. No more guzzling before wandering off to finish the work of the night. Great tip!

When I was told that Wonton King was bought out and the original Kings Restaurant was closing I…read moredidn't believe it. But it makes sense to sell a business when it's at its absolute peak. That peak has officially ended. Not only have they changed their recipe and their menu, they've reduced the amount of wontons in each soup. They've also "lowered" their prices but since its not proportional to the amount of reduced wontons then they've essentially raised their prices. (Basically they offer way less soup for a little lower price). My soup with just broth, vegetables and 5 wontons would now cost $15.95 instead of the $11 that I used to pay. Why on earth would anyone change an award winning recipe at a booming business is beyond me. But considering I just went there at 12:30 and it used to be lined up out the door...this time I walked right up to order which leads me to believe that I'm not alone in my complaints. Too bad....Calgary will now return to the dark ages of watery Wor Wonton that seems to plague most places. Boooooooourns

Ah yes, the king. The undisputed champion of the wonton ring. I've been coming for lunch here for…read moreover 18 years and there's one thing that's plainly obvious; they didn't take going into franchise mode half assed. With increased fame and new locations has come a significant drop in quality. It's not as though you ever got real service. That's not what the king was about. They had simply the greatest wonton dish in history. But my how things have changed. The super wonton is what the old school patrons get. We have no time for pasta noodles. If you come to try it, just try to tell me you've ever had anything remotely close to that good. Then, as you think about how great the pepper oil tastes on your dish, know in that moment that it only tastes 60% as good as it used too. Oh well. Still worth popping in if you're in the area but don't even think of tipping. This isn't the sit down restaurant with cheery serving staff it used to be back in the day. It's fast food. Treat them as such.

I have visited this Restaurant/Lounge Multiple times since the current owner (amazingly nice lady…read moreand awesome cook!), bought this business. I have gone here for Take-out, Dine-In, and also for the Lounge. I have tried many things off the menu and EVERYTHING I tried was FANTASTIC...Like your Mother used to cook quality (THE BEST)! I ALWAYS get pizza here as it is the best, along with trying out different things. Every time I have come here, the Owner has greeted me/us, made sure to have some conversation if not too busy, and Always made sure I/us leave here full, satisfied, wanting to come back again. She has to be one of the hardest working people I have ever seen in a Restaraunt/Bar...as much as she stops to talk to her clientelle when she can, it is only to be matched by her busting her ass in the kitchen plus making sure everyone is taken care of. We recently were displaced from our home for some Insurance repairs, staying at a hotel for almost a couple of weeks. We were sick of take out, until we called up GUSTO'S, asked if we could customize a platter for our family, and of course were obliged to. We didn't even realize until we went to pick up our food, that we had called at closing time, yet the owner went to the kitchen and made us everything we asked for, and stayed past closing to do this for us! Try it out! You wont' be disappointed! Amazing Food, Fantastic Atmosphere & Personality! Johnny G.
