Since moving to Columbus in mid-2017, I hadn't taken my car to an actual garage, preferring to just…read moreget my regular oil changes at the usual drive-thru chains. But with an aging car that is starting to get leaks and other wear and tear, I knew it was high time to finally get an inspection. Fortunately, Yelp recommended Tom & Jerry's, and after taking it in and getting some substantial service done, I couldn't be happier with my experience. One of the great things about T&J's is that they text you a link to your inspection report, which lists urgent, not-so-urgent, and recommended items to address...and pictures of all of the problem areas. I was actually quite relieved that my car's main leak was from cracked transmission lines and not an actual failing transmission. Even if I didn't have some basic mechanical knowledge, it would have been obvious from the pictures that the lines needed to be replaced. Likewise, images of battery life, ride quality, and other factors all helped me opt to fix the more urgent service items. When talking to the technician over the phone, he never tried to sell me on the less urgent items (such as a loose sway bar), and the prices quoted were very reasonable. Ultimately, I spent $1200 on four tires, a new battery, a replaced passenger mirror (labor only -- I'd brought in the part), an oil change, the inspection itself, and the replacement transmission lines. It would be an exaggeration to say my car feels new, but there's something to be said for the peace of mind that it's been thoroughly inspected, and the key issues have been addressed. Given that I was dreading having to potentially shop for a new car, I'm especially glad for T&J's service. One minor negative that is nonetheless worth mentioning is that they don't have much of a waiting area, and there aren't any decent places to sit for awhile nearby (the Starbucks, five blocks away, is drive-thru only!). After wandering around the area for awhile, I wound up just getting a Lyft home. Not a big deal at all, but just be prepared to drop off your car and have a pick-up option ready.

At 110K miles I've had one every 5K miles.I've paid an average of $40-$60 over its lifetime but.. never $140. There was no quote online or in person I was ever given, I was in no way expecting $140. I told them this at the counter, and they said they quoted other shops around and they're all there. Ok.. uh no. Regardless I'll never be back. No communication, drop off 8am, vehicle was ready at 4:30(not a problem necessarily, but an opportunity for sure).

I called and asked how much they charge to test drive and with their hands try to shake my steering gearbox and tell me if they feel that the gearbox may seem a little loose. They told me 35.00 is their look at fee without putting any tools on the truck. So I made the appointment to bring it in. On drop off they said so you want us to work on your front end and I said no remember your just test driving it and looking at the gearbox with your hands. (just a week before this our furnace went out and on the day I dropped the truck off we were putting in a new one thats why i just wanted the 35.00 test drive so if they felt the box was loose i could save to get a new one put it and still have the truck in the mean time to get to work) well they said come back later on this evening and leave the truck with us we'll call after we test drive it and you can come pick it up and we'll let you know what we think no tools will touch it. I get a call hours later saying we'll sir we had your truck on the lift working on the front end and we broke your control arm bolt inside the frame and you need to come down here. I get their and their acting like well who cares and they gave me a paper saying they want 650.00 to fix their mess up and tried to make me keep my truck there fighting me over getting my key back then they try and say well sir your front end is old to and needs parts. really?? because everything on the front end is new with only 4,000 miles on it. so they still made me pay them 35.00 for looking at it and breaking it doing what i told them not to. they messed the bracket up so bad and the control arm trying to get the bolt out that they had no right to touch that i had to baby my truck home with risk of really getting hurt. now the truck sits in our driveway unable to move and in bad shape when it was in good shape the day we dropped it off. ive missed work because of not having a ride. now I cant finish the furnace for my family to have proper heat because i'll have to tow the truck to a real shop to have their mess up fixed and as bad of damage as they did it wont be cheap!!!! but i have to have a truck to get to work for my family. And Lines treated this like a sick joke to them they were laughing. well lines my family isn't laughing!!!!!!!
