I called and left a message (they didn't open until 9M on Monday) and I called again the next morning. I was able to get the car down to them and spoke with Danny and Will. Will drive me back to our hotel, stopping at a grocery store on the way back to our hotel so we would have some food. The next day he picked me up and drove me down to Athens to pick up my car. This is the kind of service you hope for in our country, but is so rare. I thought the cost of the repairs was more than reasonable. I have always liked Athens (I grew up in Youngstown, but moved 8 times with my jobs) and if I was beginning retirement I might consider moving here, but I am almost 78. He gave me a quote of $3,000+ to replace the engine. However, he recommended that I junk the car. He said he'd give me $350 for it and would haul it to the junk yard. I agreed, thinking the car wasn't worth another few thousand dollars since I had already put in over $1,000 at his shop. That was a few months ago. Today I drove by and saw the same car for sale. I stopped in and asked him how much he wanted for it. He told me, "Whatever I can get." The point of the story is that this guy either lied to me or he's trying to sell a hunk of junk. Steve and his shop are not trustworthy. Avoid them.
