I have wanted to make a quilt for a long time. My first attempts were done by watching YouTube…read morevideos, but I was not quite getting the hang of things. I gave up in frustration. This year I found sewing classes at A Needle and Thread in Old Town Spring. Working with Erica and Lee Ann has been a pleasure and I am lucky to be able to count on their expertise. We worked on preparing, cutting and, squaring the fabric, sewing a consistent quarter inch seam, piecing the blocks, quilt top, and backing. This is my first finished quilt top. I was also able to find a coordinating fabric for the backing of the quilt right there in the store. Coming up will be lessons on the long arm sewing machine to quilt a design and then wrap things up by doing the binding. I am looking forward to the finished product and onto the next quilt.

I had actually visited on Good Friday and they were closed. I live in Katy and it was a 30 minute drive. She then proceeded to talk about her mother's 50th birthday. What impressed me the most is all of the staff are welcoming to all ages and race along with being bilingual. I am always disgusted when I walk into an establishment and no one speaks ENGLISH which is the first language in HOUSTON.
