I have wanted to make a quilt for a long time. My first attempts were done by watching YouTube…read morevideos, but I was not quite getting the hang of things. I gave up in frustration. This year I found sewing classes at A Needle and Thread in Old Town Spring. Working with Erica and Lee Ann has been a pleasure and I am lucky to be able to count on their expertise. We worked on preparing, cutting and, squaring the fabric, sewing a consistent quarter inch seam, piecing the blocks, quilt top, and backing. This is my first finished quilt top. I was also able to find a coordinating fabric for the backing of the quilt right there in the store. Coming up will be lessons on the long arm sewing machine to quilt a design and then wrap things up by doing the binding. I am looking forward to the finished product and onto the next quilt.

I had actually visited on Good Friday and they were closed. I live in Katy and it was a 30 minute drive. I was upset but kind of my fault because you should always call a new place first before visiting. I pulled up and saw no cars and was surely disappointed. I politely got back in my car and decided I would visit another day. Well the following week I decided to visit because I needed to drop shoes off at the shoe shop. She then proceeded to talk about her mother's 50th birthday. It was funny because I am preparing for my 50th birthday and I was sharing with her that I don't mind sharing information with her as well to make her mother's event a success. What impressed me the most is all of the staff are welcoming to all ages and race along with being bilingual. I am always disgusted when I walk into an establishment and no one speaks ENGLISH which is the first language in HOUSTON. They are all nice and helpful CLAUDIA, stood out to me because she helped me personally. She was absolutely amazing. She gave hands on expertise and was very patient and kind.
