My boyfriend and I were in downtown Geneva checking out some of the shops before dinner when I noticed there was a plant store. I am so happy I found this place! Their plants look really healthy and they have an amazing selection. I had been looking for a scindapsus pictus (often called a satin pothos, but I learned while I was here that it's not actually a pothos). The nurseries I'd been to never had one and so I was pleasantly surprised they had quite a few to pick from! Laura was super helpful and kind! They have a really pretty setup. They sell adorable decor and plant pots as well. As someone who is new to plants, I appreciated Laura's expertise and advice. She answered all my questions thoroughly. I was advised that I could buy soil for my plants from them in the future whenever I need to repot. She gave me a plant card with information on how to care for my plant at checkout. I also joined the plant points program. I live kind of far but will drive out here again to buy another plant, soil, or anything else I may need in the future! I stopped by with a friend when I was in town, and I hadn't been to their new location. This one is so much bigger than their old shop, so it's great to see that they're doing well. They have a good mix of common and more rare plants, and prices are reasonable for the most part. Their $5 Saturday in store and online plant special is always a good deal (the day I went it was a 4" peperomia frost in store and a 4" lipstick plant online). Their new store has more homewares, jewelry, and gifts/trinkets than their previous location, since this one has more space. They had some cute things. Definitely a fun place to browse, and for plant-lovers like myself it's extremely hard to walk out empty-handed. read more

Not a bad shop. It's more than just a plant shop, though one... wing, half?... of the store is dedicated to plants! And it's LARGE! You'll enter and the front section is sparsely merchandised but there's lots of space. A few plants were in the front section when I stopped in. As you walk further in, you'll come to a section with jewelry, candles, cards, and other gift items. toward the back and to the left, that's where the plants live. Lots of light bathing a whole bunch of plants! There were a great deal of snake plants, and I saw some really pretty pothos. I didn't see a lot of pots when I visited but I'm sure their inventory changes from time to time. They get new plants on Tuesdays, so check their Instagram! The staff member was helpful. I'd stop in if I was in Geneva; it's right in the Third Street shopping area, so in and amongst many other shops in Geneva, down the street from the Metra station, and near the Herrington Inn. Their plant selection was smaller than I anticipated, both in types of plants and number of plants, so while it's a nice gift shop there are other plant shops I prefer to this one. But for gifts, for wandering, it's great--and I wouldn't mind visiting on a Tuesday! read more

They provided me with detailed instructions on the care of each plant I purchased. They were able to answer all my questions on my prior plant issues and provided so much guidance. I even had another customer look at me to see if we both got that vibe and she walked out. Husband bought me a pricey tree there (including the overpriced pot it was in) and when he brought it home I realized it had bugs all over. Well, plants get bugs, so I cleaned it up, then noticed where the tree had branches cut off and other things like spotty and browning leaves. I tried everything to take care of it as that kind of plant needs. (Full disclosure, I have another plant of the same species not from Grow and it's thriving. I do fairly well with plants in general). The plant just kept dying. After a few months, I felt that I had done all I could, so I reached out to the shop via message. I was essentially told they wished they could help but it was outside of their guarantee policy. What a disappointment--I felt like they didn't care about the plant or my experience with them. It's a cute shop, and I appreciate what they're trying to do, plus I love to support local business, but I won't be shopping there for plants again. read more

Great to have a plant store in the tri-city area. I've been in a few times but my wife goes in often and always comes home with something unique. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Great selection of pots, plants and accessories. Plants are VERY healthy and we've never had a problem with anything we've bought...unlike buying a plant at one of those "big box stores". Overall I had great experiences visiting this plant shop and enjoyed looking around at all that they offer-which is a lot! And they do bring in new stuff/switch up inventory which makes returning visits fun. My last visit was a little off putting because of staff and overhearing conversations of them not wanting to work..I work myself and am in my late 20s with a lot on my mind too .. I've been to dozens of plant shops in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and Grow is by far my favorite. I regularly travel 45+ minutes to go here, instead of the much closer plant shops by my house. It's a fairly large shop, lots of plants (especially after their delivery day), and lots of variety. They have different "rooms" setup, so if you're looking for a low light or bright light you know exactly what will work out in your home. I've seen some comments about staff attitude, and that has never been my experience. The staff has always been super friendly and very knowledgeable about any of my plant questions. Their IG is also really helpful, they constantly post tips for plant care. Highly recommend this shop! read more
