While we…read moreended up deciding to go with a locally owned company, I have to say, inspector / salesman, Kent Tysinger of '58 Foundations & Waterproofing, was thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and BY FAR the most professional and courteous of any of the people we've had out from any of the bigger, national chains. I was impressed by the fact that he gave us a few different options of what could be done, and explained the pros and cons of each, rather than just fearmongering and pushing the most expensive one with all the bells and whistles. '58's quote was definitely higher than the local companies, but generally on-par, if not a little lower than, their big national peers. And true to the promise they make on their website, they didn't do any kind of price matching or marketing gimmicks; they just gave me the price. '58 was our 2nd choice behind who we decided to go with (out of 6, yes SIX separate inspections/quotes), and I would definitely use them for other work, should I need it down the line.

We had several estimates done and no one (other than Alberto) suggested waterproofing the wall surrounding our basement as well as the inside. And his price was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the other estimates we obtained. The entire project was done in a week and they left the space clean each day. Communication was top notch with quick response to phone calls or text messages. We really felt comfortable with Alberto's team completing this project every step of the way. They even graded a sloped area in our back yard that was problematic and replanted and watered the bushes that were displaced during the project! Their attention to detail is so impressive! The project started first of April should have been finished in two to three weeks by their estimate. The room was complete with a few areas of touch up needed the first week of June. I never heard from the owner until July 4th and he finally made his way out second week of August two review the work, now as we head into September 11,2025, we are getting the project wrapped up. It would be very difficult to recommend a company whose owner does not care about your project, honestly, I am not sure if I hadn't made calls and threats, we would have ever gotten the room complete. Total incompetence and unless you have a lot of patience you should shy away from this company.

Their team was not organized as the job took them 3 weeks to complete on a relatively small job. There were multiple days that they simply did not show up. We believed that one of their employees was drinking on the job because they spilled a drink in our garage freezer that smelled like beer. They damaged our gutter by backing up a truck into it and did not pay for repairs. After the job was finally completed, it rained the next weekend and we were still getting water in the basement. This company claims a 100% lifetime guarantee on their work, but this was not upheld. They would not and have not come back. I spoke with the owner Scott a number of times over 6 months trying to schedule them to finish the repair. He promised multiple times that he would come out, often saying he'd be out the next week, but he never came. As the months progressed Scott continued this unprofessional behavior of stringing us along. All the while our basement continued to have water problems that we paid in full to be fixed. Scott gave a number of excuses and we tried to work with him but it became very obvious that he was never coming back. I'm honestly not sure this company is even doing business now, but if they are I suggest extreme caution when considering them. They may have been a good reputable company at one point, but now they are unorganized and unable to deliver on promises.

He didn't meet any deadlines, was in breach of both mine and the banks contract. He was fired. A structural repair company that flat out says "you paid for repairs, you don't pay for the work to be up to code" says a lot.

The water issue is during heavy rain water will run into my basement garage area and the building where my dog kennels will be. We wrote the contract and I paid half the money upfront $4500. After the job was completed I paid the other $4500, but there were still things he agreed/needed to do such as: paint the border on the patio and seal it. The weather was not cooperating at that time and the concrete needed to set up first. After not hearing from him after the final $4500 was paid, my husband called and Mr. Sullivan said he needed to wait until the weather was warm to complete the job. The weather warmed up and he never came to finish the job. A big part of the job was to resolve the water issue. Me and 4 other people expressed our concern that his plan was not going to hold up under heavy thunderstorms. Mr. Sullivan insisted it would. Unusual for N.C. weather, we had major thunderstorms on Sat. Jan. 11th and the 13th. As expected, my basement garage and building flooded on both days. This water could have seriously injured my dogs if occupied but the building is not ready for them yet. I contacted Mr. Sullivan and he said he would come that day at 3:00. He did not call and he did not show up. He called 3 hrs. later and said he would come the next morning. He did show up for that and when we talked he was argumentative and defensive. He didn't even remember telling my husband he was going to paint the border nor anything in the contract. He did say he would " try" something to resolve the water issue. After paying $9,000 I told him I was not paying any more money for a job that was not done correctly. He asked for money for the supplies and stated he would do the labor for free. I did not agree, but he said he would call later with quotes and be here the next day to fix it. He never called or showed up. We did communicate via text after this and he did propose to fix it with the most ridiculous, cheapest way out idea just like the first time. His plan would have never held up and I was not going to risk my dogs getting hurt. At this point he had already proved he does things the fastest, cheapest way, is unresponsive, dishonest and does not stand by his work. He did not even pour the concrete pad correctly for the dog kennels so instead of being able to house 5 rescue dogs, I can only house 4. The new contractor I have had to hire did a laser test and the concrete Mr. Sullivan poured is actually turning the water towards my basement and dog kennels! IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: I filed a complaint against this company with the Better Business Bureau and Mr. Sullivan FAILED to respond. The case was closed as UNANSWERED. If he is not going to respond to them, what is the probability he will respond to you when the job is not done correctly and after he has taken your money?
