A couple of things have changed about groundhouse as it has established itself as an independent business.
It now has an alcohol licence, and will be serving a careful selection of wines, bottled ciders and craft beers in the near future.
More staff have been hired, staff training has been undertaken, and there is a general feel of teamwork and community in the coffeehouse as a result. Usually the groundhouse has a fair amount of staff on. Some of the new staff are particularly good in the kitchen, I should mention Laura here - she makes perfect scrambled egg, amongst other things.
People I know who don't go to coffeehouses in stirling are always surprised by the range of food on offer when I tell them about this one. Quesadillas, pizzas, sandwiches, paninis, soup, hummous plates, hot dogs, chilli, baked potatoes, various nacho plates, cheese plates, and a full cooked breakfast are on offer. the menu will be modified in the near future - but this should extend the range of attractive options on offer rather than limit it. All the foods are customisable, so ask the staff if you want something on a sandwich that isn't on the shelf, and someone will custom-make it for you. Quesadillas are really nice (i'd never had one before!) and the pizza with two toppings for £6 is particularly good value (topping range is extensive).
This is starting to sound like I work here - I don't, I just happen to be here a fair amount, so I'm 'in the know', so to speak.
Basically the range of food and drinks in this coffee house is tremendous. Loose leaf tea is on offer too - White Monkey and Organic Oolong are my personal favourites. The staff have really pulled together as a team in the last few months and put in a lot of effort to make this a business with a difference.
Waiting times can be fairly long if there are a lot of orders on at once, so do be prepared to wait.
Wifi is free and despite some initial issues, these have been addressed and the service is now quick.
