I contracted out Grounded Electric to install an EV charger for my electric vehicle. I had done my research and had purchased the parts needed for the install. I ran the heavy gauge wire myself, along with purchasing the proper breaker for the panel. My panel was full already, but a triplex breaker would allow me to squeeze this in. When I had requested quotes from various electricians, the responses were all over the place. One place refused to come out at all because I ran my own cable and they don't work on other people's work (rudely might I add). A few didn't respond at all. Other companies tried to upsell me into a bigger panel or a sub-panel. When I questioned why my breaker wouldn't work, one got very defensive and argumentative. I wasn't insinuating anything, I truly just wanted to know why my plan wouldn't work. That same person also man-handled my brand new EV Charger. He opened my brand new, sealed charger (without permission) and proceeded to take the thing a part. I very concerned he was going to either break it with the force he was using or scratch it up with the knife he was using to get it out of the plastic wrap. Speaking with Barret was a breath of fresh air. Not only was he very professional, he was very accommodating as well. He was supposed to come the next morning, but later called to inform me he would be tied up. Instead of rescheduling, he was able to give me a quote when I described to him what I needed done and sending him some pictures. He asked if I was an "engineer" by the way I was describing everything to him and it sounded to him like I did my homework. On the day of work, his crew showed up and we went through the game plan. They were very professional and their craftsmanship is superb. I'm very particular about cable management and how things are done (which is why I ran my own cable), so I can really appreciate how clean and tidy everything is. My husband and I bought our first house this past July. Two nights ago, half of everything in that house that was electric started flickering, turning on and off. PSEG came and let us know it was an issue with our electrical panel located behind our meter. As someone who lost their childhood home to an electrical fire, this did not bode well with me, and my husband and I were petrified to say the least. First thing yesterday morning I drove to work and put a call into Grounded Electric. My call was returned within an hour, and two electricians were dispatched to my house immediately. I work 10 minutes from my home, and was plesantly shocked to see the two gentlemen waiting for me. Both of the electricians were extremely professional and automatically put me at ease. It was evident that they knew what they were doing and assured me they'd fix the issue. Both men checked every single breaker, switch, panel, light bulb - you name it, to correctly diagnose the issue. They spent hours in my home tightening what needed to be tighened; replacing what needed to be replaced; and making sure everything was functioning, and would continue to function throughout the years. By the time they finished all of the work, my husband and I were sure it was going to cost us an arm and a leg. It did not. These guys are highly selective about the types of jobs they want to do. I have a job to upgrade an electrical panel, install a few new outlets and convert some cabinet lighting from halogen to LED. Seems like a pretty straight forward project, right? Nope! Barrett, an owner, was all talk on the phone but afterwards he never returned a call or offered a quote.
