Creative custom glass art interior sign!!

Mmmm the dark roast is rich, smooth, and hits at every sip! No cream, no sugar you can just enjoy a fabulous brewed coffee as meant to be! The place is great, friendly knowledgeable staff, good playlists, roomy interior but the design and furnishings make it comfy no matter what seating style you are in the mood for! The chocolate vegan donut was a knock-your-socks off kinda experience! I appreciated the custom art glass sign inside, wonderful and creative touch! Happy I googled "coffee near me" when I was down in the Manhattan area for an appointment. I will be back EVERY week for sure after my appointment. Don't sleep on this delicious coffee spot full of day time ambiance!

The ambiance is kitschy and fun. The coffee is superior. The sandwiches are elevated but inexpensive. The people are courteous and pleasant. This place is next level excellent and I cannot think of a single downside to it. Highly recommended. My wife had hummus toast which she enjoyed. I had a ham and cheese bagel with egg that was the best bagel I've ever had. Ever. I cannot say enough nice things about this place.

Cute and cozy coffee spot. This is my third time here and I'm loving it. Previously, I've gotten the ham and cheese croissant and it was great! This time I got a pumpkin chai and it was fabulous. It was a nice balance of chai and pumpkin. Neither of the flavors over powered the other. As always, the barista was polite and friendly. I'll keep coming back for sure.

It's a cute bookstore. It's very clean, and really quite spacious. But I confess, I was pretty…read moresurprised by the dearth of books! I guess that's where the "and more" part comes in (and does a lot of heavy lifting). Of the books on display, they had only a single copy (at least out on the floor). And the books were displayed face out, which makes sense when you're trying to catch the attention of young children many of whom can't read, but then when only half of your shelves hold books it's fairly sparse. They also had some stuff from some local purveyors and gifts and stuff. I got some bath stuff to try with my little one to shake up bath time a bit. They have some stuffed animals and stuff. They have some benches and pillows, spaces for kids to hang out and play; one was a wardrobe that was really nicely arranged as a reading nook which my kiddo really enjoyed. (I wish I had the vision to see something like a wardrobe and find that if I take the doors off and anchor it to a wall, it could be a fun place to cuddle up!) Something that's really cool is that they have a fishtank with a couple of axolotls, which my babe was astonished by. The bookstore seems to have a cool thing where you can arrange to have your kid feed them. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our visit here was the reason we came. I saw on Instagram that they were having train day, mentioning train books and crafts. My daughter loves trains, so we headed down. I think there were three train books on display. And the "craft" was some half-sheets of paper, crayons, and sheets of stickers that had trains on them. There was another family that had come in at the same time as us and I couldn't help but wonder if they were as let down as I was. I'd been really looking forward to visiting this bookstore--I wanted to about a year ago but hadn't been able to get here. I don't know that I'd come back even if I was nearby, because there are so few books that I don't know I'd want to just stop in to take a look since I'm not sure we'd find anything. Depending upon what's happening I'm not sure what parking is like; there's a good deal of parking down the block near the train station, but otherwise limited street parking.

This is supposed to be a child friendly place that makes children excited about books. Unfortunately that's not the case in this store. The employees glared at my granddaughters while they looked around ready to pounce if they touched anything. Unfortunately my second and last visit had the same awful vibe. 0 STARS

I've had nothing but great experiences at Roscoe Books! There are many lovely local bookstores in…read moreChicago, but this one has become my home base. I pretty much always have a book on order from them at any given time and they're always speedy and communicative. Every time I've placed an order for a book I've gotten a response within an hour that it was on its way and a time frame in which to expect it. (And I'm not talking an automated response, but an actual typed response from a human being!) There have been times when my book has somehow miraculously arrived within 24-48 hours of ordering! The only time a book has ever taken longer than expected to arrive and when I called to ask why they informed me that it had arrived damaged and they opted to order in a fresh copy for me. As a lifelong comic book collector, I've been conditioned to be a condition freak when it comes to my books and I'm so glad to know that instead of being put in an awkward position of coming in to pick up an order and seeing it's not in good condition and being anxious about saying anything that they went this route instead. Amazon could NEVER. If I ever move to a different neighborhood for whatever reason, I'd be happy to go out of my way to continue supporting Roscoe Books after so many stress-free, friendly experiences there.

Myopic books is stuffed to the brim with gently loved books found across three floors. Sometimes, the flooring can be a little uneven, or even a piece of lumber as if from a hardware store, but it is all part of the charm. It's such a pleasure to explore the nooks and crannies of the place and see what kind of books they have. Whether for yourself, as a gift, or just to see what is out there, it makes for a fun experience! The staff is friendly, helpful, and happy to help you find what you're looking for! The space is also inviting for those who'd like to relax with a book for a bit, rather than get, buy, and leave... and they do this without having a coffee shop on-premise. Final verdict: I am working on being more of a reader. If a bookstore is to help me do so, Myopic Books may just be the one. It finds itself on many of those "Explore IL" Facebook posts, and for good reason!
