No matter what day of the week or time of day I come in here the service is always excellent. All…read morethe store staff there from the cashiers to the people at the customer service desk are friendly and courteous. There isn't any of that "I hate my job, I'm having a bad day so I'm going to take it out on you" kind of attitude here. The cashiers are very pleasant and I've gotten to know a couple of the veterans there over the years. No matter what, they always seem to have a smile on their face, even when dealing with a bitchy or rude customers at times.. and there are some there! Some of the lines can be a little slow-moving at times, but if your not in a huge rush then its not really that big of a deal. For those of us who are retired or even semi-retired like I am, we don't have the urgency of rushing in and out like maybe some people might. Of course there are always sales on a variety of different items. Last week, it was all of your standard Superbowl Sunday foods. Next week it will be something different, it all varies by week. The one thing which I do not typically buy here though even if it is on sale is produce, for a couple reasons: a) I have found that similar fruit (and veggie for that matter) items are actually cheaper at another store I shop at. and b) there have been a couple of times when I've found fruit which appears like it belongs in the trash instead of out for sale to the public. In all fairness however, whenever this has happened, the store staff have always been obliging and very apologetic. Nothing is perfect 100 percent of the time and there are bound to be a couple of 'rotten apples' (pun intended, lol) which do occasionally slip through. The one thing that really makes this store stand out for me though, (actually any Stop & Shop location) is their meat and poultry products. Whether its ground beef, chicken or when I can afford it, seafood, I feel like there quality is in unsurpassed. When I compare there ground beef or steak products to other stores, I feel like Stop & Shop quality is better. The meat actually taste like meat, instead of other stores where it can sometimes taste like your chewing on sponge or ever rubber for that matter. I've also found there is more actual meat product instead of just a lot of grissel or fat, which means you essentially are getting more bang for your buck. When your buying sirloin steak, prime rib or whatever else, you are actually buying exactly that and not just something that looks like it, but instead you have to trim all the fat off. The same could be said for their poultry, I feel like in general its a lot more tender and just a better quality overall. Last, its also refreshing to know exactly where everything is when your in the store! Everything is clearly labelled in all of the aisels and the layout of the store in general is pretty organized. You have similar type items, i.e. paper products and cleaning supplies grouped together in one part of the store and everything else has its own designated aisle or space. That really does make it much easier to find certain things. Although I've been coming here long enough now that I should already know where everything is by now, to the point I could probably grocery shop blindfolded and still find everything. LOL The only improvement which I would suggest is newer shopping carriages. Badly! Some of the wheels on some of them are either really squeakey or just don't swivel and steer well and it makes it very difficult to steer your cart. But overall I like this location, even if a few others here on Yelp seem to disagree with because of there own experience which they have had

I don't understand why people want to work in such deplorable conditions. Just wondering is there a store manager? Is there a maintenance person? Do you think the Bloomfield community want to shop at a clean store? Do you value your customers? Each time I go there it is just dirty and then I go to other Stop & Shop stores there is no trash, stores are clean and neat. In Bloomfield, the store is always crowded and this is how you treat loyal customers. I was there today and yes it is filthy.

"Walking in the wild west end Walking with your wild best…read morefriend" (Dire Straits) We found the West End Farmer's Market behind Farmington Avenue between Clemens Place Apartments and the Mark Twain House. There is excellent signage on Farmington Avenue that leads you to a big lot behind the market. We saw a smallish number of eclectic vendors - a Jamaican food stand, a bakery, a few produce stands, a jewelry stand, an artwork stand, a Hartford Library on Wheels truck, and more. We made two purchases - a Nutella babka from Manchester's Wicked Good Bakes and a Jerk Barbecue Mushroom Patty Panada from Hartford's The Ital Juicery Company. I had an absolute blast at the Ital Juicery stand. They had three generations of charming and delightful women behind the counter. That Patty Panda (sort of a cross between an Empanada and a Jamaican Patty) was a good-sized portion, somewhat justifying the hefty $10 price tag, but the flavor was amazing. Smoky, savory, and spicy, I mean sneaky spicy. Not sure what kind of peppers were in there, but if you told me they were Jamaican Scotch Bonnets I would not be surprised. That afterburn lasted over half an hour. I'll definitely be on the lookout for The Ital Juicery Company when I make the rounds of upcoming Farmer's Markets. As for the West End Farmer's Market, they're open on Tuesdays between June and September from 4pm-7pm. The hours change slightly to 3pm-6pm in October. PRO TIP Five stars for their community service vibe. "The West End Farmers' Market of Hartford believes that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy and delicious food". To that end, they match SNAP/EBT spending, effectively doubling the amount a buyer can use there.

The West End Farmers Market is the best Farmers Market of all CT!!…read more I went to 3 Farmers Markets today. This is truly what I have been looking for. Native healing herbs. Friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share suggestions with the community. Kind and supportive. Every table I touched was so passionate about what they have grown, or made to offer. To future customers I would like to share don't ever judge a book by its cover. The road work did not stop me. So glad I found my way. From the freshest fruit of the season all the way to the Maple Syrup, Sour Dough. Micheal and his abundant happy herbs, jewelry and soap. The comfrey plants were such a joy to my eyes. Healing through herbs is the way we're supposed to heal. Coexist with the plant kingdom. The community at this market was nothing but love Looking forward to my next return back to CT
