Who tried to get married in 2020 and then couldn't because of covid? Me. Yay... not. Luckily, we had Curtis to make things go smoothly. We booked GrooveTek in 2020 but because things couldn't proceed further, we pushed our wedding and got married in South SF in 2023. Curtis couldn't have made the process any easier. We used GrooveTek for the following services, and each one exceeded our expectations: DJ, MC, and photobooth. His quote was very reasonable considering how expensive vendors have gotten since after the pandemic. Curtis was the main point of contact, he was also the DJ. We had our wedding in Roseville on a Friday, so I was a little nervous about our vendors hitting traffic, especially since this company is based in Fairfield. Our attendant came extra early and was set up before we knew it. The photobooth was an absolute hit, and Curtis worked with us beforehand to design our photo strip exactly how we wanted it. The props were fun, the attendant let us retake photos when the camera went off before we were ready, and guests loved that they got to keep both the printed photostrip as well as a digital copy to their email. The guests loved the dance floor songs -- someone even marveled to me that it was mixed so well that the whole night all sounded like one long song! We had never hired a DJ before so we really had no idea what we were looking for. Luckily Curtis did. He sent us a very detailed list of suggestions, popular songs, and do's and dont's. My wife and I chose Groove Teknicians for our wedding August 18 in Walnut Creek. Curtis DJ'd while Nick was our MC. Before the wedding Curtis and I were in constant email communication about song choices and timelines. We had a meeting about two weeks before the wedding to finalize everything. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! 20 stars if I could. Curtis was personally responsible for making our wedding reception a raging success. 1) SUPER TALENTED - great ear, great sense of the crowd. He knew exactly what to play and when. I totally (accidentally) threw him under the bus and after we gave an impromptu speech, turned to him and said "hey pick a song and start us off dancing" - complete jerk move on my part since I gave him literally NO notice and no direction. But wow. Did he deliver - playing Hollywood (original Kool and the gang version) which he smoothly transitioned into the Mase/Diddy version (one of my favorites). It was PERFECT. And totally on the fly. Every single guest was amazed at how good he was/complimented him (including one who is a (retired) DJ - super impressed). I think the true measure is that it's now Monday, the party was Saturday and my husband's feet still hurt. AWESOME. 2) ORGANIZED/ON POINT. I had 1 conversation and a couple of email exchanges with Curtis. And because of other details occupying my brain just let this one go. Curtis took care of everything. My husband and I hired Curtis for our wedding June. He was incredibly responsive from the beginning and sounded amazing during the initial phone conversation. We had spoken to a few other DJs prior to him and didn't get the right "feel". One thing that we immediately loved about Curtis was that he was very upfront with us.
