WE LOVE GROOMINGDALES! The secret's out--my partner and I love Groomingdales, which is a gem of a grooming shop north of the bridge. We couldn't recommend this groomer enough. Our Aussie comes to the shop regularly for his grooming and he never fails to come back looking supremely handsome. We are always so happy with the groomer's work and are always impressed by her attention to detail! The groomer is extremely attentive to our requests and mindful to our needs when we ask for a cut, making sure our pup is groomed exactly how we want. It's clear that she has a wonderful temperament with the dogs she works with (and I can only imagine she has to deal with some very challenging dogs and owners...). Groomingdales' prices feel totally reasonable for the service they provide, and I've seen other groomers in the area charge much more for the same kind of service. The great price and the better service make it a no-brainer for us to keep coming back here. Treat yourself and your pup to some wonderful grooming, and make sure you take advantage while you can. I'm sure it won't be long before it'll be hard to get appointments at a gem of a shop like this one! read more

Do not leave your dog alone with these people. I'm thankful I didn't. I brought my dog here for a nail trim. There was only 1 lady working which is fine, but my dog resists nail trims as she doesn't like them. She took my dog to the other side of the fence at the front door and chained my dogs head to the fence. Let me explain. I completely understand needing to restrain the dog but she had my dogs head chained so tightly to the fence she couldn't move her neck at all. I was shocked and wasn't sure what to do at the moment. She started trimming my dogs nails and my dog started to freak out as she couldn't move her head and was panicking. My dog started yelping and crying so loud I had to walk out of the shop for a second to process I guess. I've never seen this before and I had no idea how to handle it. I could hear my dog started yelping and crying again and went back inside and told her to stop I don't want to do this anymore. I was in complete shock that she was willing to do all of that in front of me. I'd hate to know what they do when the owner isn't there. My dog now has really bad anxiety when she has to get her nails cut after that experience. I now take my dog to Classic Tails in Petaluma, the lady is great and my dog has never cried once going there. read more

This place is expensive and I am not sure of their qualifications quite frankly... if you have a dog with long hair, go somewhere else! Our Golden Retriever came back with a botched cut with dents everywhere in the fur and several visible lengths. No undercoat brush, no trimming in places where it was needed... read more

We don't recommend this shop, especially if you have a Schnauzer. They cut off his skirt, didn't trim in ears, his tail was untouched and frankly, we don't think they even brushed him. The cuts/trim on his body are jagged, not straight and are different lengths. Very disappointing. This $88 groom for a 15 year old, 13 lb. mini Schnauzer was not worth it. We now need to take him to a real groomer to fix the cut. read more

First, this place is EXPENSIVE! I'm kicking myself for not asking how much it would be when I dropped off my grand doggie for a bath, nail trim, and to trim the stinky fur around his mouth and to cut off his "Mohawk". The sign had the prices separated by size of dog, S, M, L...please know that this is THEIR interpretation, not yours! My boy is a 20 lb schnauzer/terrier mix and she told me (and charged me) for a medium sized dog ‍. They charged me 83.00!! I paid a measly tip because I felt pressured having her stand there watching to see if I would tip, and I'm also kicking myself for tipping... Once home, I got a better look. Not only is his Mohawk still there, his nails are still long, his mouth hair is still gross, and he doesn't even smell clean, like "bath clean". Extremely disappointed that I paid on the upwards end of a hundred bucks for that!! The last photo is what he looked like BEFORE I took him...see much difference? read more

Oh my goodness - NO! My partner and I are new to town, having come from an area where things are pretty expensive. Yet we were flabbergasted when Groomingdales charged us OVER A HUNDRED BUCKS for a simple wash and trim of our small-mid sized, 28-pound golden. Worse yet, it wasn't even a good wash and trim. He smelled like 'wet dog' when we picked him up. We used to pay sixty bucks for a wash, trim AND glands. What's more, when we picked up our sweet lil dude Bodhi afterwards, the piercing, nonstop YAWPing of a huge Labradoodle echoing off of the bare walls made it painful and nearly impossible to hear or concentrate on settling up on our exorbitant tab. There are no separating kennels, cages, or other divisions in the big room, only one large pen where all of the dogs run back and forth, whipping each other up into a frenzy. (Contrary to another post, there were approx. 6 dogs in the pen when we returned to pick him up.) Prices were NOT clearly stated up front. Had they been we would have walked out immediately. Yep, we were kinda foolish in this regard, though in our own defense we've never encountered prices as high as these -- not ever -- and we are in our early fifties. IMHO, this place needs to perform more work, do a way better job at it, and renovate that space to create a saner, quieter and ultimately safer environment. Then, after all that remedial work, they need to reduce their rates by around 40%. I am befuddled at how there are two five-star reviews here. And if there's just a shortage of groomers in the area, and/or this is the prevailing rate, then consider that elsewhere there's no way one hundred dollars is a good price, even for a good groom... read more

After ongoing issues with a past groomer we are so happy to have found Groomingdales. The rates are more than reasonable and our dog came out looking great and VERY happy. The space is clean and it looks like they limit the number of dogs to maybe 3-4 in the facility at a time - a benefit for our dog who gets anxiety around a lot of dogs. While the dogs are waiting their turn for grooming, they're given a cozy dog bed to lounge on. No cages anywhere. Both groomers were very friendly! read more

Groomingdale's, who took over after we lost Michelle and Casey's Place, is worth the visit. Owner is incredibly sweet, she did a great job on my 12 pound Havapoo and has a great attitude. Pleasant attitude goes a long way for me, given an unnamed rude groomer across town who decides how your pet should be groomed rather than following the owner's request. We have had our Aussie Dean groomed by Groomingdales since it opened. Yes, it's more expensive than some other groomers but our dog loves the owner. When we walk past Groomingdales our dog wants to go in to say hello. Since Dean is our 3rd Aussie, his reaction to this groomer speaks volumes. read more

I don't mind the prices. This is an expensive town, and washing/grooming a 68 lb dog is a big job. Paid something like $110. But we were not thrilled with the quality of the cut, and I had trouble understanding the front woman because of her accent. Couldn't really get my preferences across. First time customer and the nice lady did a GREAT job on my 1 year old Australian Shepherd! I was so hesitant to take my pup anywhere due to her being so hyperactive and extremely shy/scared of strangers. Her hair is very beautiful but difficult to groom with her lion looking fur around her neck and chest. I was NOT disappointed! She got a de shed, bath, grooming for $85. For the way my pup turned out that price was really reasonable for me. I was surprised at how much my pup liked her when I arrived to pick her up, rare thing to happen with people . This is my first review but I am so happy with Groomingdales and I rely on reviews so much I figured it was time to add my opinion. My 1-year-old cockapoo was in need of a wash and a trim. I love our groomer in SF but I was staying in Sonoma and had X-mas photos looming so I gave Groomingdales a try. The owner was friendly and took the time to get to know exactly what style of cut I was looking for. My pup came out looking beautiful and she came out right on time. I have taken my terrier here on several occasions, and was always a little suspect of how I was able to get an appointment so quickly. The first two times, our dog did fine in the cut was good, no problems. The last time, however, despite having an appointment, when I brought my dog in, there were seven unleashed dogs milling about in the holding area. That was concerning for lots of reasons, and the one person doing the grooming, who am I assume, as the owner, was on her own. She was frazzled, but took my dog and I left. I was really unsettled, so returned five -ten minutes later and saw that several of the dogs have been picked up and now the inventory was down to about four loose dogs. None of the dogs were aggressive. When I went to pick my dog up at the appointed time, my dog was still being worked on and the minute she saw me started to lunge off the table. The groomer did not have my dog tethered, and was trying to keep my dog on the table by holding her by her hind leg. Horror show. I'll never go back there and don't recommend her. We were damn lucky our dog wasn't injured. Be forewarned. Worst experience ever with a dog groomer and we've been getting our dogs groomed for the past 10 years. read more
