This place is amazing. We just moved here from SF and initially went to Old Towne Resort. My Bodhi hated it and so did we. We tried Groom! For the first time and the staff was EXCELLENT! They are a no cage (kennel/crate) salon. There's a playpen in the middle where the pups can chill and relax. A tall man greeted me to begin with. He was open to any notes we had from a previous groomer and pictures. Irene groomed him And she did excellent. She was so kind and communicative. They follow social distancing and there's only one pet parent allowed at once. It was safe. Notes- there's no parking and it's on a busy street so kind of hard to find parking. Ahhh-MAZing work. I can't praise the stylist, Irene enough for the wonderful haircut she gave my babe! I needed to find a groomer for my 3-month-old Bernedoodle so I immediately went on Yelp. After scrolling for awhile I came across the wonderful reviews of Groom Salon. The reviews weren't wrong! Jennifer, the owner, was so friendly! And she gave great care and attention to Hamilton. I have used GROOM! in the past maybe 3 times while I lived in Virginia. I came from San Diego for the holidays and figured why not take my dog while we were in town. When I dropped him off it was very unwelcoming, I confirmed his groomer (Mirna) because in the past I choose a groomer and he was groomed by someone else.. Jennifer looked at me like I was crazy and I repeated myself and she stated "yes, we've already talked about that". I asked for a 20 min call ahead but instead received a call stating he was ready. I only ask because my dog is completely blind and didn't want to have him extra time in a stressful environment. Upon coming back home my dog kept shaking which prompted me to check him and he had the cuts that are attached to this post. Additionally, it's $100 for a bath and cut for a 16 pound dog. However, when I picked him up, he looked exactly the same from when I dropped him off. With such high ratings and so many customers, I thought they would care and make it right, not even an apology. I'm pretty disappointed with the haircut my standard poodle received on Tuesday. He has been shaking his head nonstop and his ear has been bleeding. His hair was cut uneven and it looks like the collar wasn't taken off to cut his hair. His hair is uneven on his legs and paws. Also, he did not smell clean. I am wondering if he even was washed. It's frustrating when you pay $200 for this haircut and still have to take him to the vet to address his ear. Not worth it. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Not only did I love it there, but my puppy (Bama) did as well. He was happy and waggin his tail when I dropped him off and picked him up. The salon is in a nice location, I love the way it looks in there, and everyone I came in contact with was so nice. Specifically, I want to brag on Jenifer. We got to talking when I picked Bama up, and I shared with her a few details on how Bama was a gift from my father before he passed away last month. She gave the sweetest condolences, and even spent some time just talking with me for a few more minutes about my daddy. It was heartwarming, and so very special to me. At such a hard time in my life, it's really nice to be in such a warm presence with great people and the cutest pups. Not to mention, Bama smells GREAT and I can tell that he feels great too. I can also tell that he is happy with his bath, and finally being able to see without pushing his bangs out the way. (He's a puppy, this was his very first groom.) GROOM! lived up to the hype. Pros: 1. They don't stick your dog in a crate or stuffy room in between service. My doggie was roaming around in a gated area, which lowered his anxiety 2. No use of super perfume sprays. My dog smelled clean without the overwhelming sweet scent. 3. Friendly and helpful staff. I immediately felt safe leaving my fur baby for service. 4. Very clean space. Masks on, clean floors, wide-open space, and no funky scents. 5. Great grooming. My doggie's tear stains were cleaned up nicely and the cut was perfect! He also got a cute bow. Cons: None, really. Run don't walk. I was running behind due to a ZOOM meeting and the owner was so incredibly rude and obnoxious. My dog was finished at 1:15 pm I picked him up at 2 pm. She stated policy says pick up within 30 minutes. I get that but there is a way to communicate with clients. At first I thought she was joking she was so aggressive. Not one to review on Yelp but Groom is excellent. I've recently moved to the area and found great things online about Groom. I have a 70lbs Bernedoodle who is deathly afraid of crates (she's a rescue) and doesn't trust men. She had a bad experience at her old groomer (in NJ) who decided to pull on her matted fur. I gravitated towards Groom because they have a policy of not crating the dogs and allow them to roam the location. The location is large, everyone is super friendly, and both times I've been there so far the owner is at the front desk and answering the phone. They are kind, understanding, and they do an EXCELLENT job. Bernadette was in dire need of a grooming as we hadn't been able to take her to the groomer for months because of the move. She came back with a summer cut, trimmed nails, clean ears, and they even brushed her teeth! The first grooming cost a bit extra because she had some matting, but the second cut now that she is on a good grooming cycle, was about what I expected. I'm happy we found a great groomer that we can trust. Bernie is not nervous or apprehensive like she used to be going to groomers. Looking forward to her next visit! read more
