They will put their own lenses on the Oakley's you bring BUT they don't tell you that Oakley doesn't allow any other lenses but Oakley to be used in their frames, it nulls the warranty and no authorized Oakley reseller optometrist will touch them after those lenses are put in or they'll lose they're license to sell Oakley's. When they were confronted with this, their response was that they'll gladly put new lenses in if I came in and paid for a new eye exam and pay for new lenses. So you're telling me you messed up and you won't fix your screw up without collecting more money. Lastly, they also lie about what your insurance covers. My insurance covers the eye exam but they lied and charged hundreds for the first exam that my insurance actually would have fully covered! Santa Barbara was never a place I'd expect to be ripped off, for such a "prestigious" city. Can't wait for the city to get through with their unethical business practices! Great customer service, knowledgeable. We tried different contact lenses until the third pair was tried, and that was the best one. Very patient and not rushing the exam, answered questions I had. I chose optometry care on a whim and it is the best place ever! Dr. Santizo really takes the time to understand your lifestyle, habits, and your overall health. She truly looks at you as an entire person, and explains how your eye health is reflective of that. When I noticed I was getting headaches, she gave me some eye exercises that could help my focusing ability, and a year later I went back in and it had improved!! I'm an active person and often wear contacts. Dr. Santizo asked me about what I like to do and introduced me to a different contact brand that was more breathable and suitable for longer wear. As a grad student, I also spend a lot of time at my computer and Dr. Santizo considered that as well when writing my prescriptions for my glasses. It's a bummer I have eyesight that keep getting worse and worse with age, and I know that contacts and glasses aren't cheap, but the staff have been SO HELPFUL in finding me the best deals. I ordered contacts through them and they provided me with all the paperwork for a rebate so I could get some money back from my purchase. At the outset of the appointment I was told that my co-pay would be $10 and, additionally, I opted to pay an additional $20 for a retinal scan (versus dilation). All good. However, at the conclusion of this appointment, Dr. Katsev Ruck indicated that I was being charged $85 to receive the contact lens/eyeglass prescription (of which she had provided a hard copy at this point). When I objected to this, she literally took the physical prescription from my hands. Withholding a person's contact lens/eyeglass prescription is a clear violation of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Eyeglass Rule and Contact Lens Rule, which states that prescriptions must be provided to all patients without request and without additional fees. I have filed a complaint with the FTC.
