We decided to try the pancake Sunday. We arrived around 11:20. We got through the line quickly. Their food is always delicious, but I feel like they pre-make everything so it was a little soggy/cold. I would say I was mildly disappointed. I get they're trying to cater to tons of people, but maybe there is a better way to keep things warm. I still wouldn't turn anyone away from trying them out. It's always a good time for the whole family. The new barn where you eat is also nice.

However they seem to be known more an more for every year their sunflower fields! With thousands covering the area, so many people stop to take photos and admire these beautiful flowers. Named after Alexander B Lamberton who was the president of the parks board from 1902-1915. Constructed I 1911. Lovely warm escape.. especially In our cold winters. The humidity is perfect for growing and maintaining plants and cactus.. loved the flowering cactus! Poinsettias are beautiful, and set up like a tree. Keep your eyes open for the animals throughout, careful where you step! Turtles and quails. Prices are so low, $4 for adults. Kids under 5 I believe are free... seasons passes available. Such an amazing time that exceeded my expectations…read more Again this was a random activity that I thought would be fun and warm and would pass time during my trip to Rochester. There is a $4 admission fee to enter and they take card and cash. I love turtles and was so happy to be greeted by 2 aquariums at the entrance with turtles in them. I was definitely surprised as we walked through the conservatory and saw both turtles and tortoises. It was a great surprise. The traffic of visitors seemed to ebb and flow but there's no guide and it's not timed so you can go at your own pace and even circle back as we did. There are also other small animals such as quail and chipmunks that you'll see walking through as well. It was a good reminder for me to find the beauty even in the midst of chaos, you just have to stop and look. If you just need a soft place to clear your mind and reset, this would be a great start.

The first time I visited, I don't think there was any security check at all and the sebsequent times, until this most recent visit, it was minimal. The security line was long when my mom and I visited on a Monday morning. After getting through security, we walked through the concert and vendor food truck areas and went over to the farmers market. After going to the farmers market, we had to go through security again to go back to food trucks & vendors. I went through the line and was waiting for my mom (they made her dump out her water bottle) and the man I was standing near while I was waiting tried to tell me I had to go through security AGAIN even though I had just gone through. Ultimately I moved farther inside the vendor/food truck area to wait for my mom and he was ok with that. After seeking the food we wanted, we were ready to take a walk through the lilacs, which was across the street. The lilacs and other flowers were beautiful and smelled wonderful! After going through the lilacs, we would have had to wait in line and go through security YET AGAIN to get back to where we had parked/entered the festival. Rather than doing that, it was faster for us (and less aggrevating) to just walk the large block around the outside of the festival to get back to our car. If you have never been before and don't mind waiting in security lines several times then, sure, have a visit... Or if you just want to see the lilacs and not visit vendors, food trucks or the live music area, then I'd also say go for it. For myself though, the aggrevation and wasted time of having to go through security multiple times is not worth it.

Great trees again this year. I have been going for 10 years. There is no reason to go anywhere…read moreelse. Don't go to a chain or a home improvement store. Those trees were on trucks for weeks. These trees are cut daily. The staff is really knowledgeable. They will tell you every you ever needed to know about the different tree types and what to do with them. The bail the tree for 2 bucks and have twine to tie it to your car. They will even toe it for you if you want. They even volunteered to follow us home and help carry it in before. Please remember to tip the guys carrying and tieing your tree for you! The trees hold up well into january. Never have issues with needles falling even though we buy the tree mid November. They make you wear a mask because of covid. I understand it's outside but you are really close to groups of people. Please just wear the mask for everyone else's sake.

I stopped into The Lodge Bar on both visits and got to hear live music! It really put me in a festive and fun mood, having a drink while watching the musicians play Christmas songs. They have games and plenty of seating available in the lodge bar. We also tried out the free ice skating. You have to wait in line to get your free skates. The line moved quickly and we were skating in no time. They have skate mates available which helps to makes the rink accessible to all experience levels. I needed some help and used a skate mate. The city backdrop just added to the overall experience. The Roc Holiday Village was beaming with holiday magic and warmth. How lucky we are to have this attraction in our city. Some food and beverage options around the shopping village too. Chai, hot cocoa, pizza and donuts to name a few. Lodge bar is huge and open to the public. Grab a table or seat fast. Inside stage with live music and karaoke. A bunch of free games to play as you enjoy a tasty drink at the bar. Cash and credit taken. There are a few bar tastings events.. check their website. My favorite area is the outdoor seating area, scattered with fire pits, chairs and stumps to sit on and enjoy the atmosphere. Nothing beats watching the snow come down with a beverage in hand by a warm fire. They have igloo inns to rent, they seem to sell out way ahead of time. Cozy igloos sit 6-8 people, for 90 minutes. You can preorder food and drinks. You get a server that will bring you drinks and food too. Larger igloos available for 30 or 40 people. All igloos are heated. I was super excited to see one of the monorail cars from midtown mall on display. A great throwback to so many of our childhoods.
