Chicken not cooked

I tried to like this restaurant. Not authentic Haitian food. There is nothing au gratin about the macaroni. My chicken was raw. I waited 1 hour additional after I ordered ahead.

One word Amazing loved it 10/10 of course you have to wait the longer the better craft mesi

The empanadas and fried plantains were our favorite part. We ordered the Jerk Chicken and the Griot. The Jerk Chicken had great flavor but was over charred. Service was slow, took us 90 minutes door in door out. If you go, I would call ahead and do take out. Definitely has a new restaurant feel to it. I can't tell if they are going for a casual feel or a sit down place. The lights weren't on, they were using natural lighting and A/C wasn't great. Definitely worth a try and has potential to be 5/5 someday!

One of the few underrepresented cuisines in Houston is Haitian, and that's a shame. When we visitef Miami over 30 years ago, we sought out Haitian food even more than Cuban food. A Haitian spot in Los Angeles called T'George's sold what I still think is the most succulent chicken I've ever eaten, cooked on avocado wood. Haitian food involves a mix of Africa, France, indigenous Caribbean, and some hot voodoo thrown in for even more magic. I love the use of spices and the always present base sauce of herbs and garlic called epis and the kimchi-like side salad called pikliz. A couple Houston Haitian spots have operated on the far westside of town, but our favorite is a brand new spot in Spring Branch called Griot Gardens (6806 Long Point). One reason is that the menu features an extensive selection of vegan dishes! The sweet owner's daughter is vegan, and she felt challenged to veganize most of the classic dishes of the country. Griot is like masitas--fried pork. But the vegan version here is remarkable, making a creative use of powerfully flavored mushrooms. The "epamamas" here are the chef's take on empanadas, and the veg one is fabulous, as is the perfectly crisp fried yuca served with a mojo-like garlic sauce. For an entree, there is the coconut-curried chickpeas, which paired sensationally with the rice and peas and pikliz. There were oxtails in a savory gravy, downed with a Haitian Prestige beer. It might be because of the newness of the operations, but the time from ordering to actually receiving food was pretty long. We were happy to be patient, but other tables weren't. Hopefully, service will be more efficient in the future. We loved our food and will definitely be returning.

Griot was great good and authentic wish they had simple version but the complete was great

9/10. I just moved to houston from NY and I was getting tired of cooking haitian food, so I searched for a place and found Griot Gardens. The only reason I did not rate it a 10/10 is because I would love my Pikliz to be 1000% more spicy and it got a little pricey but thats okay, it was worth it. Service was amazing & the ambiance makes you feel like you are home in haiti

A friend has been raving about this place so I just had to go. The food was very flavor and plenty full. I really enjoyed eating here and want to come back soon!

Great service and our first time here. We did a to go order pick up. The menu looks great and we will have to be back for Jerk chicken and ox tail next time. The lady that helped us was really nice and friendly. Great customer service definitely makes us want to visit again!

The best Haitian food I had since I have been here in Houston. The staff is awesome and welcoming. My friends who are from other islands in the Caribbean were also very impressed. One of them said that she felt like she was for a moment transported in the Caribbean. The music was mellow and the decoration added a positive vibe to the atmosphere!

I tried the sauce and it was so flavorful and savory. Would definitely get them if I ate beef. Now that curry mash! O my goodness, I never had it before but it was so good. It's not just mash potatoes and curry. The onions, peppers and other fresh seasonings set it off and I would get it again. The plantains were good, soft and sweet. The steamed veggies were so good and sautéed perfectly. I don't like them cooked too long and they had the perfect bite. The rice and peas were also good. They went perfectly with the meal and the seasoning was on point. The chicken curry patty I could've passed on. The outside was so flaky and good! I never had a patty like that but it was kind of cold and I had already gotten the curry chicken and thats exactly what it taste like, just in patty form, although the curry chicken meal was better. The chicken curry was sooo good and flavorful. I got a roti skin to sop up my curry but didn't care for it to much. It tastes like its made with wheat flour or germ flour and was a bit too thick‍ no shade to them. To be honest, I'm a 'bust up shut' roti kinda girl and everybody's is different and that's fine. Now, if they made the roti skin like they made the Jamaican patty, I would be in business. I ate quite a bit and STILL had a whole meal to take home with me and was full after finishing it. When I see people of the culture eating their own food its a good indication to me the food is good. There were a couple tables with a few Jamaican's enjoying it. We went the Saturday after Hurricane Beryl so the lights in the dining area were out probably due to heat, which I'm fine with. It wasn't too hot or cool even without the air on. It was a good time. Next time I'm getting the jerk chicken

Authentic Dominican/Caribbean food in Willowbrook. Who knew?…read more I remember this place from a birthday party decades ago. The space was a bit bigger (they've since redesigned it smaller), but the crowds were smaller. Success hasn't tarnished their food. It was a very rainy and soggy afternoons and the place was packed. We managed a table and ordered. Can't go wrong with the delicious shrimp mofongo. I honestly think the sauce is the icing on that cake, made all the more delicious with a squeeze of lemon. Whew! Service was fast and dinner came out at a reasonable pace. The owner is so friendly and stopped by our table to make sure things were good. Better than good! If you're in the Willowbrook area do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. Prices are a little steep, but what's isn't these days?

I ordered the pollo guisado and moro, both were good and we have a little left over. My partner ordered the pica pollo and the fried chicken was decent. The food does take some time, and servers did not check in too often so I would recommend ordering ahead of time (unless you have a long lunch break), There are plenty of tables, but it is a little dark inside, 2 bathrooms inside. The juice was on the sweet side so just watered it down (wish they have smoothies), but they get 5 stars overall for the flavor and the price point. Plenty of parking as it's in located along other stores.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!

Our final destination was Jamaica, and Caribbean Hot Pot brought the culture to life through bold, authentic Jamaican cuisine. They graciously donated a large pan of jerk chicken, large stew chicken, rice and peas, and perfectly seasoned cabbage--and every dish was prepared with incredible flavor, care, and authenticity. The jerk chicken was smoky and tender, the stew chicken was rich and comforting, and the sides tied everything together beautifully. It was a true celebration of Jamaican culture through food. What truly set this experience apart were the owners, Marquisha and Vaughn Watkis. From day one, when I first spoke with Mrs. Watkis, her response was simple and powerful: "We've got you covered." There was no hesitation, no uncertainty--just immediate support and commitment. And they delivered exactly as promised. Their follow-through, professionalism, and genuine heart for the community were evident in every detail--from clear communication to a seamless pickup and beautifully prepared food. Caribbean Hot Pot didn't just donate a meal; they stood in partnership with our mission and showed up for our children in a meaningful way. Watching our children enjoy authentic Jamaican cuisine as we closed out Winter Camp was incredibly special and impactful. It was the perfect way to end a program centered on culture, connection, and care. If you're looking for authentic Jamaican food, outstanding service, and owners who truly stand by their word, Caribbean Hot Pot is the place. We are beyond grateful and highly recommend them to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience rooted in community and excellence. By the way, they also have another location just in case you can't get by FM 1960; they are also located at 12005 Veterans Memorial Dr., Ste A., Houston TX.
